An excellent collection of short stories. I’m guessing that because this is an organised anthology, using various authors, the publishers had the pick of a good selection of work to choose from. Every story is very different, and each one is beautifully written and edited. Well done to the organisers.
I could write a short statement about every story because they were all good, but I’m going to highlight my two favourites. The first is The Orchard by D E Fox. The author hit on a clever premise; it’s something that you don’t read about very often, but we should all be terrified of… sinkholes. They can get you anytime, anywhere when the earth decides to open its mouth and show its teeth. Excellent story
The other one that touched me is Lilly’s Story by Helen C Kelly. The letters within the story are just beautiful, especially the final one.
A great read, perfect for dibbing in and out of if you’re short of time. And perfect for public transport commuters. I read it on holiday. Brilliant. Never underestimate the pleasure, professionalism, and power of a well-written anthology.
A great idea taking an eclectic mix of talented writers from the first Jupiter Cloud Book Festival and throwing together a variety of short stories and poems in an enjoyable anthology. A read for all tastes, romance, scare, humour, history a little tear or two and even a quiz show. Well worth a hour or so of your time and good to support this venture. Check out the website too for future festivals to visit.
