Book three in the Delarosa Secrets series
When the truth comes out, Victor and Bieito must decide how strong their love really is.
Victor Delarosa has been the head of the Delarosa cartel for most of his adult life, and Bieito Perez has been there by his side the entire way. Yet Victor has secrets he’s kept hidden, even from his long-time lover, and when those secrets show up on Victor’s doorstep, he struggles to find a way to explain while hoping he won’t lose Bieito.

Being Victor Delarosa’s right-hand man and his lover is difficult at times for Bieito Perez, but he wouldn’t have his life any other way—until the day he realizes Victor’s been keeping secrets and he has to re-evaluate their relationship.

Between dealing with a rival cartel, law enforcement and everything else being a drug lord requires, Victor and Bieito need to redefine their lives and find the courage to say the word ‘love’ out loud before it’s too late for anything other than goodbye.

The Delarosa Secrets series

Every family has secrets, but the Delarosas’ run deeper than most. Three brothers struggle to deal with the sins of their father brought to their doorstep. Each hiding something from the men they love, yet fighting for the joy they’ve been denied all their lives.

Victor and Bieito have intrigued me from the first, you can't get much more anti-hero than the head of a drug cartel and his personal muscle. There's a lot of testosterone floating around but make no mistake these two are very much in love. It's a sweet love made all that more intense for the fact that it must remain hidden. Theirs is a long standing affair and if I could characterization the relationship with one word it would be loyalty.

I have to say that I wasn't to sure how events were going to pan out. It was hard to imagine how things would work out safely for them but I must say that the end surprised me. I wasn't expecting the twist that happened with regards to Victor. I like the unexpected so that was a bit of a treat.

I can't say that I was initially a huge fan of the time jump in the epilogue but thinking back I can appreciate that it just reinforced the loyalty that the men have for each other and the depth of emotion they shared. I was glad to see what happened with these two men. I think out of all of the pairs I've been rooting for them to be happy and safe together so this was a win for me.

Original Blog Post: Review: Cold Truth (Delarosa Secrets #3) by T.A. Chase

My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

Oh damn. I cried. I really, really cried. And for two anti-hero lovers????? TA Chase, what have you done?

With Cold Truth, we finally get Victor and Bieito's story. These two men have been with us since the beginning of the Delarosa Secrets series and there were times I found myself truly hating both of them. At the same time, the growing love for them and anticipating when they would next come out of the pages of the first two books warred from wanting to find out how they were, how they were going to get their chance to redeem themselves. Well, we finally get it and this read is just plain terrible.

Terrible for my heart. This is a story so strong, I have to admit, this is my favorite of the series. Victor is just who he is and more while Bieito is revealed to be the strongest. The love these two hold for each other, they will cross paths with a bullet and more to keep each other safe.

Why do I love these two deadly and criminal minded men? If you decide to pick up this book, you will find out the why's and what's of it. Only in this book does the whole truth come out and it is cold and it is brutal. It is also incredibly brave for these two men to live a lie for more than eighteen years. This is the book that made me realize: TA Chase now belongs to that favorite authors list of mine.

Love. Love. Love.

4.5 Heart Review by Carissa

Victor Delarosa and Bieito Perez have lived a life of secrets, crime, and passion. Not that anyone can ever know that they are lovers, since both of their lives depend on that secret being kept. But their affair is not the only secret that Victor has been keeping these last couple decades, and very soon many of his secrets will out. And it is very likely that heads will roll as a consequence.

Caught between what they want and what they have to do, both Victor and Bieito have very little chance of a happily ever after. With a war brewing between Victor’s cartel and the Cortez cartel, they will be very lucky to even have an ever after. Still, there are very few things in life so precious to Victor as Bieito, and he will no let any of them go with out a fight.

First off, it should be stated that these guys are not good guys. They are good characters, but they should be in no way anyone’s role model. They are both killers, and drug pushers. They make their livings off of other people’s pain and broken hopes. And if you were to look up the definition of an unhealthy relationship, there would be a picture of these two guys. They’re. Not. Good. People. Got that?

They are some fucking awesome characters, though. I have been waiting since I first read Borderline (book 1 in the Delarosa Secrets series) for these two guys to get their own book. They have an extremely complicated, yet simple relationship and I loved all the quick scenes we have had with them over the course of the last two books.

Victor and Perez have both lived incredibly hard lives–both of their own, and their fathers’, making. You can tell that they both wish they had taken different paths, but Victor really didn’t have much of a choice, and neither did Perez–especially when he came back from college to find himself falling in love with Victor. They would both do anything for the other–except give voice to the feelings that are very real between them. And when, after 18 or so years, Victor finally says ‘I love you,’ I will have to admit that I was crying. Because of course, of course, he couldn’t do it before his life hung in the balance. Dear gods, but that hurt–and I’m not even the one he loves.

There is quite a bit I love about this book. We finally get some answers to who the fuck is leaking secrets all over the place. It’s not exactly who I assumed (sort of) but good anyways. And a new character is introduced–and though they don’t get much page time till later on in the book, I really like them.

The plain fact is that this book was everything I was hoping it would be. It gives answers, lets us have a few resolutions, and while not everything is perfect or wrapped up in pretty bows, I like it. A lot. This has been a really interesting series and I’ve grown to love the men who star in these books. I especially love how right and wrong are never as clear as you think they should be, and the some of the best characters are those who are not good guys. These books don’t sugar coat the realities of what these characters are and do, but Victor and Perez are by far the most interesting because of it. I like them because they are not what you expect, but exactly what you are craving.

This book was between Victor and Bieito. I truly loved how devoted to each other they were. Victor was able to withstand Bieito's unwavering love, even in the face of not wanting to show weakness.

The love between these two characters is seen throughout each of the stories in this series. However, here, you get to see it on a much more personal level. You see how they react to each other - constantly worrying about each other, wanting to protect each other and their families.

Despite this story being sequential, it felt a little too long in some places. That is why I gave it 4 stars. I really enjoyed the action parts of the book, but it seemed to constantly mention Victor's behavior or outwardly wanting to show his men who was boss, while also reiterating that Bieito was stern and just as mean at times.

In the end, I loved the result and I hope that it shows that there might be a "in the future" book for some of the characters.

This one was harder to read because it’s about Victor and Bieito, the men as well as the Drug Lord and right hand man. Even though the book mainly focus on Victor, the man. You never forget that other side so it’s hard to feel sorry for him, for what he is going through. Except maybe good, one more Lord off the street. However, I do have to add the author does a great job not just in this book, but in the previous ones setting ground work, that leads us to believe that maybe Victor is starting to feel, it’s time, that he wants more, and he want’s it with his long time lover, Bieito. I did like the introduction of a son, and how that could have rocked the foundation of this relationship. But I still found the overall story predictable it still was entertaining, and the ending has left us with enough opening that we could have another one?
