The Mystery of Scripture, Volume 1

Rate this book
This is the first in a three-volume series that will eventually explain how and why Moses and the other Prophets of Israel intentionally concealed “The Mystery” of the Word of God behind the parabolic imagery and Hebrew idioms of the Hebrew Scriptures. It also begins to explain why “The Mystery” that was revealed to the Apostle Paul and the other Apostles is no longer understood today. The Mystery of Scripture, Volume 1 does not attempt to explain “The Mystery;” it merely demonstrates some of the ways that Moses deftly concealed “The Mystery” of the Word of God in the Pentateuch. It also shows how a careful reading of the text discloses Moses knew exactly what he was doing.

Ten Commandments finally explained! Well, just the beginning of being explained but the Old Testament I finally enjoy reading! Before this book and other teaching materials by Larry Harper, I only read psalms and occasionally an Old Testament "story" but with no real meaning or significance. This book opens up the Bible! So great!

Take a look at what's discussed in this book (a glimpse from the Contents page):
The Testimonies
Statutes and Judgments
Torah and Mitzvah
Torah as Teaching
Moses, Prophet of God
Aaron, Prophet of Moses
The Judges of Israel
The Teachers of Israel
The Testimony of the Scriptures

Not a quick read or a quick study, but well worth the time and effort to digest! The same can be said of all of Larry D. Harper's works... with one exception. "God Called; I Answered," Larry Harper's most recent book (and biography) is a fascinating and quick read!

"The Mystery" was just that "A Mystery" to me until I read the works of Mr Larry Harper and insured I was "Born Again"? I knew Jesus said He spoke in parables and he gave His reason for doing so but at the time I was one of those who heard but did not understand or saw but did not perceive. This book explained to me The Mystery, The Riddles, The Parables etc.. Then I started to slowly hear and see!!! An amazing experience. Highly recommend!!

This book was to me, one of the most difficult to read, because of my own limitations with the English language concepts. But after reading it 2 times, I can say it is well worth the effort because it has improved my ability to understand the Hebrew scripture. If you are looking for a good teaching on understanding the Hebrew scripture.... this book is for you.
