Mitch is back in the second Baxters book. Her ability to dabble in EVERYTHING and make money at it keeps life interesting for the two alpha males. Her pure heart and unconditional love naturally draw people to her. Sometimes not the best people. Applying logic to situations works to everyone's advantage. Until it puts her in the danger. She falls into situations that require rescuing on a regular basis. With life moving at warp speed it is tough to keep up with where the threats are coming from. Through it all, Mitch keeps finding new and innovative ways to keep her husbands happy, testing her new robotic hand turns out to be a dream for her men. Their steamy sexual exploits stem from testing old theories and new, thanks to Mitch's logical way of thinking she has her men begging to be guinea pigs. Keeping Mitch safe is a challenge Jamie and Kevin never expected. They look to their old SEAL team for help. Surely a team of SEALs can keep one little woman alive. Can't they?
L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference. The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal. L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers. With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet
I enjoyed the book and the family concept it presented. The MFM dynamic has been a fantasy wish for me. The only issue I had is the unrealistic perfection of the characters. The book is sexy, romantic and totally unbelievable.
L. Ann Marie does it again with another wonderful story. Mitch is this kick butt woman that always has something going on in that brain of hers. I love her men. They know when she needs it and is always at her side. This book has a lot of action, love and family. I highly recommend this book.
What an extraordinary group of characters. Loved this story. With a powerfully driven young woman, with beauty and brains and the very hot men who love and support her on every level.
I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale
OUR WIFE L. ANN MARIE Book 2 of THE BAXTERS starts 1 year after book one. The relationship between Jamie, Kevin and Mitch has only gotten stronger as has her knowledge of technology that will help the company grow along with helping others. People respect her abilities and others want to steal her from the company so she can make them money. This results in the need for better security. The author has developed her characters nicely. She has also built a community for these characters to interact and watch out for each other and inspiring the motto “FAMILY FIRST.” The story is written in such away that the reader will root for the characters when the are in trouble. For those who like explicit intimate scenes involving the loving threesome, buckle up as there is plenty of that to go around. I do caution however; due to explicit language and sexual situations Our wife is not recommended for people under the age of 18. I think fans of romance and action/adventure novels will enjoy this spicy action packed novel. Needless to say I give this 5 thumbs up
A committed polyandry ménage story, with light BDSM play. I loved the continuation of Mitch's story. She and her men are settling into married live. Nothing is smooth. Jamie is injured on a !mission. A long held family secret is brought to light. Mitch is kidnapped. Someone she through of as family, turns their back on her. Traitors are found. Mitch become a target for her abilities. When all she wants is to be with her family and friends and create things that make people's lives earlier. Mitch maintains her positive out look. The Baxter family has three new additions. Her friends are finding are starting their own families, band she couldn't be happier. Looking foreword to the next book.
'Our Wife' (The Baxter's Book 2) by L. Ann Marie is an awesome read. This is an excellent addition to this series. I loved this book. This story is full of passion, action, drama, moments that touch your heart, and loads of entertaining characters. I'm anxious to see what happens next! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, hot former military men, and menage.
Great book in the series. I love how Mitch is not all about money but about people and family and making life better and easier for those who need it. I can't wait to read more of this series, and I hope the story continues.
This is the second book in this series and it just gets better! things have settled down and the crisis is over for now. their married and committed and new adventures await. we still get a wonderful story as the first book just better. more characters come in and you fall in love with all of them.
I devoured The Baxters series back to back, so I clearly enjoyed it. However, by the end of the third book I was kind of annoyed by everyone and everything.
Let's start with the good: Mitch is sweet, Jess is adorable, the boys are sexy, the steamy scenes are just that. The overall storyline is good, but I have a bone to pick with L. Ann Marie that I'll get to later.
The bad: 1) To steal a line from the book: Mitch is just too much. All of the characters say that about Mitch in an endearing 'you just don't know how amazing you are' way, but seriously the character is apparently supposed to be some mega-genius (which isn't even hinted at in the first book), who just seems to magically be able to churn out billion dollar ideas on a dime as the books progress. 2) I know kids get in the way of the sex in an erotica story, but Jess goes from being the center of Mitch's world to NEVER being around. She's constantly spending the night at a grandparent's or friend's house. The guys take turns taking care of her, later there's a housekeeper and a nanny and a bodyguard. Like - what happened to mom-Mitch? 3) Mitch's freaky-genius is paired with a child-like demeanor. I've never seen an adult character literally jump up and down, clap, and say 'yay' so many times. 4) There are just too many (insignificant) characters. The author will drop a dozen new names on you at once and give no context to who the people are. I get that it fits with the story in the sense that the business is growing rapidly and they're bringing in tons of new security, etc. But come on, help a reader out - if you're going to give a character a name rather than just "a dozen new bodyguards" then you need to give us some sort of intro/context. This is never more evident than in this, the second story. WHO THE FUCK IS MIKE?? I swear there's a Mike tossed in like we should know who he is either later in the first book or early in the second and context clues tell us he's somehow related to Mitch (brother? cousin? I honestly don't know). But he's just name-dropped like of course we should know who Mike is. Then suddenly Mike is popping up all over the place, but again context clues tell us he's part of the company's security. Did brother-Mike get a job at the company? no. There's a second character names Mike, who also gets dropped in with NO introduction, and
Bottom-line: it's a mostly enjoyable read. I'm not sorry I bought and read them. But I definitely won't be re-reading.
I really like this series and love that the characters are pleasantly flawed. I love the dynamic between Jamie, Kevin and Mitch. They are so sweet as a trouple and are loving parents to the kids. I will admit there were parts of the story where I was totally confused about who the new characters were and not sure what happened to a few old ones, as there were so many being introduced and coming and going. I am not sure if it was from the lack of editing, if I missed the intros into the new characters or my paid copy was missing pages?? ***Lack of editing is one of my peeves about paid books - this book was not too bad - occasional missing words, wrong words used 'they're' instead of 'their'. And lastly, a chow mein sandwich sounds kind of gross.
This book just keeps going, full of intrigue, adventure, advancement, and love. You have to concentrate at times to keep up, but it's worth it. All the characters are well developed and grow with the storyline. You do have to read the books in order to make sense of everything. An awesome read.
This was really slow going for me until about the last 40%. And although I love seeing more of Mitch, Kevin, and Jamie, there’s a little too much detail. That being said, I’m off to book three.
As previously I am retesding the serreading dont want to stop.ies L Ann writes with passion & love. Highly recommend her books. I am starting her books all over again just love how she writes . Hate it when I go to work & cant read except at breaks.when I start I dont want to stop. 10 stars.
I have read all of this books and the ones with the mc, too. I can't wait to read Alex , Terry , Judy and the other kids stories. Please keep up the good work. Thank you your books have helped me with my anxiety and depression.
I love this books.I ghost ave stated up all night reading and I bff ave re-read them alot. I can't wait bbq to read about Alex, Terry, Judy and bbq the others.
Another powerful story that brings love and hope to the reader. Mitch is definitely one of those characters you wish you could meet in real life. The story builds on all the great things we saw in the first book and makes you want to keep these characters around. As we meet more of the people in Mitch's world we become more vested in their story too. Great book!
Well, re-read yet again in May, 2017. Again, too much explicit sex for me but I liked the plot itself. Re-read again in September,, 2018. Yeah, lots of explicit sex but I adore the characters and dialogue.
