Broken Road #1

Losing Her

Rate this book
Love. I’d hated love for most of my life. I saw how it destroyed the one person I thought I could count on as it sucked him under, leaving him not to care about anything else in the world—including me. But when I didn’t close myself off, I let love consume me. Love and hate, two words that don’t often go together but that’s what I felt for him. Beneath the prince lurked a monster.

Lawson Reynolds fell in love with Campbell Wynn the minute he laid eyes on her—even though he was clueless to the fact. Maybe if he had realized it sooner, he wouldn’t have lost her. Campbell Wynn had no interest in becoming another one of Lawson Reynold’s groupies. She thought she found her own happily ever after when she didn’t think they even existed. But the perfectly painted picture soon turned ugly behind closed doors. Will Lawson’s unconditional love be able to save her from the downward cycle that she refuses to break? Or will she reach the point of no return?

***4 "so many ^god damn^ mistakes" stars from me***

Wow!!! I think i'm speechless right now and i'm pretty sure that i need the next book... YESTERDAY????
What was that??? That book drove me nuts...

I was in a constant emotional rollercoaster and i didn't know where i was standing and why i was feeling like that!!!
I probably felt every god damn feeling that exists in the universe...

This book was full of angst that after i finished it still linger inside me and cletch painfully my stomach...
It had suspense especially in the prologue and the epilogue... From the prologue i reach a nice course in my mind about what will be following next with the plot and i was so damn sure about it, but then came THAT end and THAT epilogue which twisted everything around...

What the hell was that and what will happen next??? And why in the name of God happen that???
Why he lost her??? And where she went??? With whom and why she did that???

Phew!!! I'm full of questions and i will go crazy until the next installment of this series...

Well, Lawson fell in love with Campbell from the first moment that he laid eyes on her...

But Campbell didn't aloud him to come closer to her even though that she was having feelings for him too...
You see, Lawson was in a band and Campbell didn't want to become one of his groupies...
So Lawson agreed to be her friend with the hope that one day he will succeed to make her his... and in some point, they came closer (many times!!!) but the timing was always bad...

After a while, Campbell thought that she have found her happily ever after with another man and Lawson lost her for good. But as the time was passing Campbell discovered with ugly way that she didn't really know her husband...
So, what was going to happened from now on??? And what about her friendship with Lawson???

I liked Lawson very much... He was very sweet guy and he loved Campbell with all his heart from that first moment, but he was young and he wasn't thinking straight. He made a lot of mistakes... Mistakes that kept him away from Cammie...

But he was always there for her, by her side, looking after her... and i liked how devoted was to her even though the hope that one day could be together was slipping away from him!!!

As for Cammie??? I really don't know if i liked her or not!!!

I think that i felt both while i was reading her story...
She had a lot of baggages in her back and that was stopping her from reach the true happiness... I think that she never realize that Lawson's feelings run so deep and her feelings toward him wasn't strong as his until much later.

She made also many mistakes and i think that her biggest of them all was that she draw that line between her and Lawson which forced them away from each other and turned them into friends...

That was the first piece of the domino that led in the complete disaster that was... her marriage!!!
I really don't know how i felt about that fact... and I don't know why she was tolerating all those things. I also didn't like that she willingly abandoned her dreams and even her friends... And i despised the fact that she was forgiving so easily unforgivable things!!!
Oh! And i really hated something that she did near to the end to Lawson. He wasn't deserve that kind of treatment!!!

But i would be unfair if i will not say that i understand her reactions, even though that i do not agree with her actions.

You probably wonder why i rated this book with 4 stars since i was having serious issues... and i will say to you that even though some things really bothered me, i really liked this story...

The pace of the book was quick and direct and the plot was very interesting with many twists...
The prologue was very intrigue , but it confused me so much because i was trying like a madman to find the connection between it and the rest of the story and even though i was a little bit slow to get inside the story because of all this back and forth in the beginning, i really enjoyed it!!!
I was all the time on edge and my feelings were ruling me!!!

Please, somebody have to give me the second book immediately. I'm dying here from the agony!!!

Lovely story with an unexpected turn of events! This book surprised me, as things happened that I really wasn't expecting, but it all worked!

 photo tumblr_nda767ej3i1r7eta3o1_500_zpsdwhbv8of.jpg

This story was about Campbell and her bad choices in love. When she was young, her friendship with Lawson had turned into an erotic affair. Lawson always had strong feelings for her but Campbell had no interest of becoming one of his groupies. Lawson did not fight for her and put a distance between them. They continued to be friends, leaving their past behind. Life continued, and Campbell fell in love with and married Conner. When Conner started drinking, the effect on their marriage was dramatic and damaging. He became abusive and often raped her. Lawson, who was still in love with Campbell saw the cracks in the facade and tried to help her. One thing led to another and the old flame was rekindled.
 photo tumblr_n9t6spy2Gl1r7eta3o1_500_zpsvs7zaprg.gif

The only problem with this book was that it had time frame issues so the outcome was at times confusing. The story's structural flow could be more simplistic and intuitive, and so more interesting. The plot though was fantastic and the character development satisfying.

In life, we always have a choice: do we drown in regret over what never came to be, or use our energy to create what can be? Campbell and Lawson accepted the consequences and chose the latter. Campbell found the courage to escape from the monster that was her husband, but Lawson was too late to start anew with her. Will their relationship finally find its way to love and happiness? Can't wait for the next book!

Change was sometimes good, sometimes bad, but inevitable nonetheless. Inevitable change.”

Losing Her follows the story of Campbell, Lawson and Conner. Their story will take you on one heck of an emotional journey. You will get angry, and frustrated. At times, you may swoon and wish things could be different. But, in the end, you will be dying to know what will happen next!

One of the things that I loved about this book was the prologue. It pulled me in and captivated me. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I had to know more. I fell in love with the characters and my heart went out to Campbell for everything that she was going through. Did she frustrate me? Yes. Did I wish she would wake up and see Conner for who he was and that he would never change his ways? Yes, Definitely. I wished for so many things and that Lawson could have seen what he wanted from the very beginning!

As much as I loved this story, I did have one really big issue with it. The timing. I can’t really go into a lot of detail about it, because, I don’t want to give anything in the story away. Here’s what I can say: The timing confused me. The whole time I was reading, I thought we were going into the past; to how Conner and Campbell met, leading up to what happened in the prologue. All I can say was that I was wrong. I don’t know why it took me so long to figure it out. Maybe I wasn’t paying as close attention as I should have been or just missed some very obvious clue. I will say that once you get to the end of the story, everything will make sense to you and you’ll have a big “Ah Ha” moment.

Other than the timing issue, I did really enjoy the story. The characters and story-line was intriguing. I will tell you that this story does deal with some tough issues of domestic abuse and I thought the author handled it well. I will also warn you that this book does end with a bit of a cliffhanger, so while it will clear up any confusion you may have had while reading the book, you will definitely be excited to see where the story will go next. I know I am!

This book was an emotional rollercoaster set on high speed. Campbell and Lawson's relationship was so heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time. I hoped and crossed my fingers that they would end up on the same page at the same time but life had a different plan for them.

Campbell to me seems so lost, broken and searching for love in all the wrong places and that includes with Connor. She makes mistake after mistake and when something amazing is right in front of her she runs. Campbell has a hard time seeing what is real and dealing with things that are uncontrollable.

Lawson is a rocker who enjoys his lifestyle yet has found the one for him but holds back every time. His mistakes are many but his love for one is strong. He tries to move heaven and earth for her but her scars run too deep.

This book was a wonderful read, I did however got a bit confused at the beginning of the book with the time frames. But once that passes the book moved at a wonderful pace and kept me captivated throughout the book.

This is a story that is very easy to get carried along with, the pattern and flow are smooth and the characters are charismatic.
The story was sharp, on the outside it may have appeared that it going to follow a fairly standard pattern but I am delighted to say that this had more tricks up its sleeve than that and the author was well prepared for a slow and deliberate build-up of both angst and drama.
Lawson and his band are playing a county fair when he first meets Campbell and he really should have known then that this woman was his love at first sight but being a typical guy in some respects, he is slow on the uptake when it comes to actually realising he loved her and by the time he had it was too late, he was back on the road with the band.
Now had the guy I was seeing up sticks and taken off without a bye or leave, I would have been less than willing to remain friends but Campbell is a better woman that that and whilst he is away they build a really close friendship.
I was glad that Campbell didn’t put her life on hold while Lawson was doing his thing with the band, and I liked the fact that although Lawson was aware of the fact that she was dating, she didn’t hold back from finding herself a new man. She started dating Connor and while Lawson was having to deal with the fact that he let her slip through his fingers, the relationship that Campbell and Connor had wasn’t quite what I think she had in mind.
Because now that they are living together she is beginning to see a different side to than she fell in love with. Now Connor was irrational, I didn’t take to the way he made Campbell feel, he was riddled with jealousy and he under mined the very essence of her being, he seems to relish in encouraging and captivating her fears. He was an angry man and was just hoping that she would see sense and call it a day but then again I was apprehensive as to how Connor would deal with it is she did.
Lawson loved Campbell and never truly expected anything back from her, after all it was his mistake leaving her in the first place but I was soon praying that he would see that his friend, the woman his heart longed for needed his help, she needed him to be her knight in shining armour and to show her exactly what loving someone means. Her life with Connor was a rope around her neck, it was just a question of whether she would be able to release herself from it strangle hold before it was too late.
With a second book to follow in 2016, I wasn’t surprised that the book ended with a cliff hanger, I would have been more surprised if it hadn’t but the journey that this book took me on was one that if it can be matched or surpassed in book two I have to say Cori Williams will definitely be on my go to authors list.
This was a great story, packed with twists and turns and more than few surprises along the way, you cannot help but get absorbed by the story and the characters.

I’ve always been a fan of Cori Williams and with the way she blew my mind in this book, I will always be one. The twists and turns in this book were very unexpected. From the prologue to the epilogue and every page in between, I was hooked. By the time I was finished with this book, I was thinking ‘what the hell did I just read?’ I had to let things sink in and still had a book hangover the next day.

Lawson and Campbell met one night while his band was playing locally at the fair. Once meeting, you can feel the pull they have toward each other, but Campbell has no intention of being one of his groupies. She’s so torn between her feelings of what she should do and what she wants. Deciding to put her heart on the line, she has one passionate night with Lawson.

Unfortunately, Lawson runs and shreds her heart in two. Picking up the pieces, she meets Conner. What can I say about Conner? Hmm, nothing nice that’s for sure. He’s a cop who is a controlling ass who tries to remove Campbell from her family and friends. He wants her all to himself. Even though Campbell and Lawson have patched their friendship and stayed in touch while he’s been on the road, you can definitely tell Conner is not happy and with his controlling ways comes punishment for her.

I loved the relationship between Lawson and Campbell!! They start out as friends and even though they had that one night, their friendship still lasted throughout it all. I felt so bad for Campbell for the fact that Lawson realized a little too late that he wanted her to be his and she was already with another man. Like they say, you snooze, you lose. Lawson definitely lost because as much as he wanted Campbell, he knew Conner wouldn’t let her go that easy.

My emotions were all over the place with this book. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the story veered off in a different direction by the epilogue, and that’s another thing I loved about this book. It was never boring that’s for sure. I love the feelings that were brought out in this story. I was happy, sad, angry, and left needing more of this 4 star book ASAP! Don’t make us wait long, Cori!!

I received an ARC for an honest review & am so glad I read this one. I think I found another author to love. Cori Williams is a new author to me, but the synopsis to this book really drew me in, so I gave her a try.

I must say that reading the prologue for this book kind of threw me a bit when I got into reading the chapters, so I decided to stop, go back to chapter 1 and start again without reading the prologue. Awesome idea! I flew through the chapters after that and loved every minute of it.

Campbell Wynn was a sassy, funny high school graduate who had a hard time believing in love. Her mom cheated on her dad and left, so she stayed with her dad, who took the divorce quite hard.

Cam met Lawson Reynolds after one of his concerts. She liked him, but wasn't going to be one of his groupies. They ended up hitting it off and became great friends.

Lawson is a guitarist with the band Jensen Outlaws. He doesn't like the attention, but it comes with the job. He instantly fell for Cammie, but couldn't do the relationship thing. He figured it wouldn't work out with a girl like her and he being on the road all the time could be a problem. So friends it was.

The connection between Lawson and Campbell was beautiful and loving. I felt the flutters whenever reading about them together. However, other love interests came into the picture to shake things up a bit. Sometimes sweet and sometimes frustrating. There were a few times I wanted to shake Cam and Lawson to wake them up. I needed them to be together. They were meant for each other, damn it!

I absolutely loved this story! Loved that it was sweet, funny and romantic. Loved that there was tension and fighting too. However, Cori Williams left me stunned at the end. Literally I didn't know what to say. Mouth dropped.....speechless. I do highly recommend this book if you haven't read it yet.

Thank you Cori for giving me the opportunity to read this book. Looking forward to the next one.

This is a review for Losing Her (Broken Road Series Book 1) by Cori Williams, on behalf of A Book Lovers Emporium.
4 Stars.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the story line and the book was very well written, the words flowed well.
Lawson Reynolds is in a band called Jensons Outlaws, whilst playing at a county fair one night in Carolina, he meets and falls in love with Campbell Wynn. The only trouble is he doesn't realise it until it is too late and after one glorious night together, he takes off on the road again with his band and doesn't even tell Campbell he is leaving.
Although they remains really close and good friends, Campbell has to think of her own life whilst he is constantly away on the road with his band and she meets Conner and slowly falls in love with him, much to the disdain of Lawson, who finds himself with an attack of the green eyed monster. But while everything seems sweetness and light and picture perfect on the outside in Campbell's life, on the inside things are starting to get ugly. That wonderful man she met and now lives with -Conner is turning into a jealous, angry and bitter man. Can Lawson save her from from herself with his unconditional love for Campbell or will she decide to drown in her own self doubt ?
This book has lots of twists and turns and hold you breathe moments and a wonderful little twist at the end that I didn't see coming at all. I was willing Campbell along and routing for her all the way, but in the next breathe i wanted to grab hold of her and give her a good shake !!!!
Be warned this book ends on a cliff hanger and Cori Williams will be releasing the second book in this series called Shattered Laws in early 2016, and I for one will be one of the first in the queue to read it. !!!!!
A really really awesome read.

So I was super excited to read this book by Cori because I love her writing and this book did not disappoint. I was hooked right away from the prologue and my mouth was hanging open and I couldn’t wait to see what happened. This book is told through both Lawson and Campbell’s POVs so we see what both have been through throughout the book.

This book takes place in the past and present so it was a little confusing at times with the time hops. Lawson and Campbell have known each other since they were kids. Campbell never wanted to be just another girl to Lawson she wanted to be his only girl. Lawson also wanted Campbell to be his only girl but sometimes life has different plans.

Over the course of the book, we get to see the struggles both Campbell and Lawson went through. Lawson traveled a lot so he wasn’t home much. Campbell couldn’t really handle Lawson’s career at times so most of the time they were apart from each other. There bond was strong from the get go whether lovers or friends, both knew they would always be in each others lives.

Somehow things would always get in the way or life would never go according to plan. Campbell finds herself in a horrible situation and doesn’t want to believe it and Lawson is doing everything he can to save her. The ending of this book from the very last chapter to the epilogue is MIND BLOWING. I actually had to re-read the last few sentences of the book and so NO WAY!!!! Congratulations Cori you got me good and let me hanging. I can’t wait for book 2 now.

Well Ms. Williams did it again. She wrote a story that will mess with your heart, break it to pieces, and try to put it back together again. Just reading the prologue I was like what just happened. So let's take a walk down the Broken Road.

The first time Lawson sees Campbell he wants her. She is not going to be one of his one night stands. This starts a great friendship. And this is when the story starts to get to me. I wanted to shake Lawson. You can tell he loves Campbell but he can't act on it. He pushes love to the side. Even though he doesn't show his love to her, he makes sure she is taken care of.

"I have been living without her but I haven't been surviving."

Campbell has had a tough life. Pretty much taking care of herself as she grows up. Her friends as always there to help her. When she meets Connor she falls fast and hard. They have a good life for awhile and then things take a turn. Will Campbell be stuck in this horrible life or can she break free?

So this broken road will leave you stumbling. As Lawson denies true love and Campbell deals with a happily ever after that turns ugly this story takes so many emotional turns and twists. Even though you fall in love with the characters there are times that you will be yelling and them. As my heart shatters and I start to put it back together I will anxiously be waiting for the next book since this does end in a cliffhanger. That is ok I will just message Ms. Williams about how she messed with my mind and my heart and beg her to write faster.

Speechless – Losing Her has hooked me big time – The Ending - Wow, I am going to go back to the beginning and read this again before the next book comes out as I cannot believe it was twisted that way – brilliant!

This is going to be hard to review in words without giving anything away so here goes….

Firstly, Lawson and Campbell and their young romance, it was frustrating for me at the start of their initial friendship and subsequent physical attraction, I did find parts of explaining how they met and their emerging love story a bit long for me but then I wanted to get to when they were adults – you cannot blame me when you read the start of this book.

Their passionate scenes were hot and horny and they obviously underneath loved each other but you can understand why Campbell chose her husband, she needed some serious stability after her childhood.

I really enjoyed the second part of this story more than the first but I suppose after the way the story started we needed to go back to the beginning. The scenes around the violence I thought were written well and compassionately expressed without being too over the top.

The friendships and support group that surrounds Lawson and Campbell is amazing and I just keep going back to the beginning of this story and the ending and my mind is boggling with what is going to happen next.

Oh how I wish Shattered Laws will be released early 2016 – I have so many questions now I want answers to.

I was given a copy by the author to review.

Losing Her -the 1st book in Broken Road series left me a little speechless.. This is the 1st book I have read by Cori Williams and definetly will not be my last! I loved it and can't wait for the second book.. I definitely was not expecting some of the twists in this story.. The characters were well written in dual point of view giving you both present and a little bit of back story of Campbell and Lawson's past friendship and history and the closeness they shared with refraining from crossing the line. Lawson had only been on tour for a little over a year with the up & coming Group- Jenson's Outlaws when he met Campbell after one of his shoes. The girl different than any other girls, just finishing the end of her senior year in high school.. Not wanting to be another one of the usual hook-ups.. Campbell refused to allow things to go any further after a first kiss. Both of them young they built a close friendship over time, both of them living different lives. The want and chemistry is always there but to many barriers are in between. This book has a few twists and turns you don't expect. This is a bit of mild abuse in this story, as there is in true life.. Not all things are sweet.. As I got closer to the end I was a little sad because I didn't want the story to be over.. Well with that bit of a twist, I was left speechless. It's not so much as a cliffhanger as it is something that keeps you intrigued to read the next book. That I can't wait for!
I don't want to give any spoilers so I'm just going to say.. This is a Must Read..

I'll be honest and say I was so confused when I read the prologue and then chapter 1. I didn't know if Campbell was the person who stabbed her husband but then you figure out that she's not. The epilogue clears that up. Losing Her is a fast paced novel that I wish was a little more organized. The time jumps are confusing and once you figure out what time frame the characters are in, you're thrown somewhere else. This book does involve domestic violence.

Campbell and Lawson meet at a show where Lawson's band plays. Campbell is feisty and not looking for a one-night stand. Neither is Lawson when his eyes land on Cam. She's different and he's instantly hooked. Early on we're introduced to Connor, Cam's future husband and if you already guessed who he is from the scar then you know he's not what he seems. Campbell's past becomes her future, and Lawson is left somewhere in-between.

With a little bit more depth to their story, this would have become a favorite of mine. Be ready to be hit in feels though. This isn't a light book.

Once I started, I couldn’t put this one down! The prologue will suck you in and leave you with enough questions that you HAVE to read this in order to figure out what’s going on, it’s not even an option. But as soon as you think you have it figured out, you’re hit with the epilogue to beat all epilogues…what the hell?! Definite cliffhanger here and I’m very anxious for the next book in the series! That epilogue is definitely setting something up for the next book.

This book covers several very sensitive topics and it gets pretty intense at times. I was happy, fearful for Campbell, frustrated, angry and devastated…all in one story. Overall, I loved Campbell but I will admit there were times where I hated her, too. I absolutely loved Lawson and while there were times I just wanted to scream at him to get his shit together, you can’t help but love him and empathize with him.
This story is very well developed and thought out, definitely not a surface read!

Wow! Yes, that one little word sums it up perfectly! WOW!

Cori Williams is a new author to me. I adore reading new to me authors especially when my first impression of them is simply mind blowing.

Losing her is a riveting tell of love, lust, pain, betrayal, loyalty, addiction, and abuse. The main female character finds herself unable to trust and love after a life of betrayal and abuse. That's until she meet's Mr. Perfect.. or is he?? Torn between her heart, her mind and an overwhelming need for loyalty she is faced with life changing decisions.

All along the way the plot twists and turns never allowing you to get complacent or bored. The characters are very complex. Some you love, some you hate, but either way you are passionate about your feeling for them.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read. I can't wait to read more by Cori Williams.

I loved every part of the book. It was a page turner from the first chapter. I could not get enough of Lawson and Campbell. Lawson was a famous player who would never settle down. He constantly had girls throwing their selves at his feet. Even though he could have any girl he wanted, He only had eyes for one girl and that was his best friend Campbell.
Campbell had a rough life growing up and thought that was all behind her until she met Conner. Even though Campbell and Lawson have two separate lives something always brought them back to each other.
I love best friend romances and thought the book flowed perfectly. I felt so many emotions and never wanted this story to end. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. This was my first book by Cori Williams and will definetly be added to my one click list. Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Leandra

I will admit that I spent several moments of this book totally confused. The prologue and the constant time shifts had my head spinning. It was hard to follow. Even with that, I was drawn to the central story. Lawson and Campbell took me on quite a journey. I loved her in the beginning. She was sassy and independent. Lawson was an up and coming country music star. the timing for these two was never right. They had too many distractions and just when things start to click something would get in the way. It was hard to really tell how many years the story spanned which was a little frustrating. there are a few twist that I saw coming and overall it was an entertaining read. However, we are left with a cliffhanger. We will have to wait to see if these two can get on the same page.

WOW this was a powerful read. This reminded me of a Nicolas Sparks novel. In some ways I hate this story because I am sitting waiting for a happy ending a nice pretty bow. This book shows the struggle is real, they don’t instantly fall in love get together and have perfect musical babies. They take roads that lead them on paths that are sad, lonely, heart breaking. Through it all they always find each other. That was what the story is about finding happiness in each other. AND HOLY CRAP that cliffhanger was GREAT! Now I am not a fan of cliffys but this gave you just enough closure to feel satisfied and then just enough of a spin at the end to say “Can we ride it again” Can’t wait for the next.

Losing her is the first book in the Broken Road series. It has so many twists and turns that your in warp speed trying to read it. Campbell met Lawson at a show his band was playing at. Campbell is sassy but has lousy luck in the dating department and not looking for a one-night stand. Turns out Lawson can't take his eyes off of Cam and know that she is different from all the other girls. Campbell's past becomes her future, Will Lawson be left behind? The cliffhanger has you wanting more now.

This book…wow. Not at all sure what to say. I really enjoyed it and there was a twist at the end that I really did not see coming. I couldn’t believe that was the end of the book. I think I actually shouted at the end. I needed more.

I am really looking forward to the second book, I need to find out what happens. I feel so sorry for Lawson.

This isn’t normally the kind of book that I read.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Goodness what an emotional story. There are so many ups and downs throughout this whole story, I truly loved the ride we took. Lawson and Campbell both struggle through some tough times. I loved both characters but at times I wanted to smack them both. While this does end in a cliffhanger I am truly happy that I read it. I can not wait until the next one comes out, I have to know what is going to happen.

I thought this would be a great book to read, but I found that I just couldn't keep interest in it. I tried to make myself finish reading this book but I kept skimming through it. I don't like to write bad review. I'm just going to say this just wasn't the book for me. What I don't like someone else might love. I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

While the warning was right it does have a few triggers. I was pulled into Cam's life and everything she went through. But then I also rooted for Lawson, especially for him to finally pull his head out of his rear to see what I had from the beginning.
This may not be for everyone, but it should be given a chance to pull you in and hold you tight.

Lawson was a rising country star with his band. Lawson enjoys his life style until he meets Campbell. They had been on tour for about year and were playing at a country fair when Lawsom met Campbell. Lawson fell for Campbell at first sight bit doesn’t realize it at first. He just knows she isn’t like any other girl he knows. Campbell pretty much took care of herself growing up. Campbell is finishing up her senior year in HS. But campbell wouldn’t let Lawson get too close to her as as she didn’t want to be one of his groupies but the id have one great night together. Lawson leaves without goodbye but when he is back on the road he realizes he loves Campbell and she is the only girl he wants. but it is too late. Lawson agreed to be her friend and they became best friends. But he also hoped one day she would be his. At times they became close but the timing wasn’t good. Than Campbell falls in love with Connor and she marries him as she wanted stability in her life. But once they move in together Campbell finds she really didn’t know her husband that well at all. In reality the man she fell in love with and married is irrational, very jealous, and undermining. He encouraged and captivated Campbell’s fears. Campbell wonders if she will be able to break free from Connor.
I loved this story and it was a strong four almost five until it ended in a cliffhanger and I just hate those. This puts you on an emotional roller coaster. I enjoyed the suspense. I loved how Lawson was always there for Campbell. This had a fast pace and a good plot. I was a little confused at times while reading this though. The author handed the domestic abuse well. I didn’t like how Connor made Campbell feel. This book has: lust, love, betrayal, mild domestic abuse. loyalty, jealousy, addiction, lost chances, friendship, and so much more. I like the characters and the twists and turns of this book. But with cliffhanger and a few other things it was just a three for me.

Losing Her is mainly set around two characters, Campbell and Lawson. They meet when Campbell is in her last year of high school and Lawson is just getting famous with his band, Jensen Outlaws. Campbell is dragged to one of their concerts and then to a Meet and Greet. They hit if off and become friends right away. This story spans their friendship and deeper feelings through the years.

I enjoyed Lawson and Campbell's relationship. The banter between the two was fun, easy, and very natural. It was soon apparent that Lawson was in it for more than an easy lay, especially since Cammie didn't give in. There were several times that I just wanted to bop both of them in the head to wake up and quit being so stubborn. Lawson was so bent on protecting Cammie, even from himself. Campbell was also trying to protect herself. GAH! They just couldn't see past protecting her. Even when they are adults, they were in their own way to the road of happiness. Lawson gave and gave and gave. Campbell, to me, seems to take and take it for granted that he would always be there ready to pick up the pieces, to protect her, and for anything else she needs, all while trying not to take from him. I know that sounds contradictory, but Campbell is very proud and independent. It is hard for her to accept help, so she tried not to, but sometimes, she just really needed it. She had some tough times from that last year of high school.

My main feeling while reading this book is frustration. I was just so dang frustrated with, mainly, Campbell. There were bits of annoyance in regards, Lawson, but mainly just Campbell. I honestly can't pinpoint what about her rubbed me wrong from the get go, but she did. I respected her decision to not spread her legs as soon as she met Lawson, but I think maybe her attitude. I just don't know. The prologue pulled me right in to the story, but I'll be honest, I had a hard time relating it to the rest of the story. It kept floating in the back of my mind... "What did it have to do with what is going on?" It was always there, nagging at me. I will say that the further I read, the more it started to make sense. I was very curious to see how it played out, though.

There were some twist that I didn't see coming, which, in hindsight, makes total sense. The overall flow of the book and the dialogue is what kept me reading. I could understand some of the decisions that Campbell made, and they made her relatable. As an outsider looking in, you want to fix situations and of course you know the best way, because you're objective. I couldn't help to root for these 2 characters. I just wanted everything to work out in their favor.

Keep in mind that this story is so far from over. A cliffy? Yes. This story kept me reading especially towards the end. I had to know the outcome. I still NEED it! I cannot, Can. Not. Wait for more!

The blurb was the first thing that sucked me in. The second thing was I had never read a book from Cori and was happy to read this story.
The prologue had me in a 'WTH', 'OMG', give me more type of mood. After the first 3 chapters I am not sure the book would continue on the same way it began.

The characters Lawson Reynolds and Campbell Wynn had a very interesting relationship. Throw in Conner and all the additional obstacles between the trio and you get a whole lot of drama. There were so many things that came in the way of their friendship/relationship but I always appreciated how Lawson was always sweet, loving and caring.

I like Lawson more than Campbell because I felt like I saw a side of him that I really like. Campbell was just well...Campbell. I wanted her to wake up and man up to her feelings but instead she always chose her head and not her heart.

What didn't work for me in this story.

I didn't like how the story jumped. Most of the time throughout the book I was left feeling confused. I thought I missed a few chapters and would often have to go back a few pages. I wished that each chapter had the name of the person whose point of view it was. Again, I found myself confused as the story would be told from either Lawson's or Campbell's point of view and it would take me a while to determine which person I was reading.

The Prologue was so intriguing that I thought the entire story was going to lead up to what the hell happened in the beginning. You kind of get what happened all the way at the end of the book but the story leading up to it wasn't really leading in that direction.

Besides these points, the story was OK. I didn't love it but I liked it.I need more to fall in love and find that emotionally connection.
Overall, Losing Her was an OK story with interesting events and characters.
