Based upon the award-winning series, Magic School Bus Scholastic Readers make learning an adventure!
Ms. Frizzle always takes her class on cool trips. This time, they head to Animal Land Park, and the bus turns into a bear. When it starts to get cold, the bear goes to sleep. What should the class do?
Hop on the Magic School Bus and learn all about how different kinds of animals survive through the winter.
This is really a spin off series not written or illustrated by the original people. Nonetheless, it is a decent quality title, solid science being taught in a fun way to beginning students. This has always been a superb series and the publishers seem to be trying to maintain the quality of the work. Presumably this was ok'd by Cole since her name was on as advisor or something. I'm doing this review without the book in hand so cannot check on specific position Cole had with this book. We can always use more books on hibernation and this one covered more than most books for kids on the subject, including fish for example. Definitely recommended.
1. It's fall time in Ms. Frizzle's classroom and the children are interested in learning about hibernation. Ms. Frizzle knows exactly how to teach them about it. They take a ride on the magic school bus where the bus becomes these different animals. While the bus hibernates, they exit the bus and get these magic glasses. They end the day with a parents night. 2. I'm not sure how much of a connection I can make with this book. Except for when I was in elementary school learning about how certain animals hibernate and what hibernation actually was. It probably relates to different books, not only Magic School Bus books, but others too. 3. I thought this Magic School Bus book was kind of cute. I like how instead of having pages written, they actually show the different students talking through the pictures. This book is fun and easy for children to read, while teaching a great lesson too.
This is a fun story about what different animals do during the wintertime. It depicts how some are active, some hibernate and some are dormant, lightly hibernating and able to get up for brief periods during the winter. The illustrations are typical for this series and the narrative is short, perfect for beginning readers. We enjoyed reading this story together.
As all the Magic School Bus this book won't fail in entertainment plus education. The listener-reader will enjoy what they are listening to-reading and won't have a second thought about learning about how animals hibernate for the winter. It goes into details about a bear primarily but it does point out other animals and where they hibernate and also points out that sea-lake creatures hibernate as well. This has a story to follow but also has small paragraphs at the bottom of each page telling more details about true simple facts.
You simple can't go wrong with Magic School Bus a very fun way of mixing reading with learning Science. And this one incorporates animals simply a good book.
