Sierra Team didn't see that coming!
Ryssa and Rivers had their future stolen when Rivers had to enter Blackout, but when Ryssa walks into the compound, he knows it's the second chance he never expected and this time...he will fight for her, for them, for their future. It's not the future they planned, but life has already crushed that dream, this is a new future, for the people they have become, the people who work in the darkness, those the public don't know exist.
I love seeing this second chance romance, the love is very obviously still there, it's why the loss still hurts six years later. And the passion and chemistry is very definitely still there, they just need to regain the trust. And Rivers knows it's very easy to break trust, but so much harder to earn it back!
A great addition to the series, I love all the Sierra Team and especially the women who steal their hearts. I can't wait for Connor to find his soul mate, she will be super feisty and explosive! I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

It's great that after the years, the protagonists could reunite; they went through tears, pain, ambush, and love and its various exposures, while gaining friends and family.

🖤❤️ Six Years Apart Couldn’t Erase What They Had ❤️🖤
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars
I have really been enjoying the SEAL Team Blackout Sierra series, and Deep Cover was such an emotional addition to it. This one had the action, suspense, conspiracy, and danger I expect from this series, but what really pulled me in was the relationship between Reid Rivers and Caryssa Lane. These two didn't just have a little history. They had a whole future planned together, and then it was ripped away from them.
Reid was supposed to be dead.
Caryssa spent six years believing that the man she loved was gone. She mourned him, rebuilt her life around that loss, and threw herself into her work as an FBI intelligence analyst. She never really moved on, though, and I loved that the story didn't pretend six years was enough time to erase what Reid meant to her. Then she walks into the Blackout Sierra compound for an investigation and comes face-to-face with the man she buried.
Talk about an emotional gut punch. 🥹
And Caryssa's reaction felt completely justified. She isn't just shocked that Reid is alive. She's furious, hurt, confused, and forced to confront six years of grief all at once. She thought she had lost the love of her life, only to discover that he had been alive the entire time. Reid knows exactly how much his decision hurt her, and he also knows that explaining why he had to disappear doesn't magically give those six years back.
That lost time was probably my favorite part of their story.
Reid didn't leave because he stopped loving Caryssa. He made the decision to become part of Blackout Sierra because he believed it was the only way to protect the people he loved. He had to die on paper and disappear from the life they were building together. He went into the darkness knowing exactly what he was giving up, and six years later, he still hasn't stopped loving her.
So when Caryssa walks through that door, there is obviously still love between them. The problem isn't whether they have feelings. They very clearly do.
The problem is trust.
And I really enjoyed watching them work through that.
Reid knows that trust can be destroyed in an instant and takes much longer to rebuild, and he can't expect Caryssa to simply forgive everything because he had a reason. She has every right to be angry about the life they lost. At the same time, Reid has spent six years thinking about her and carrying the weight of the decision he made. Neither of them can just pretend the past didn't happen.
There is SO much longing between these two. Longing for the time they lost, longing for the future they were supposed to have, and eventually longing for a chance to build something new together.
Because I loved that their second chance isn't about trying to recreate the exact life they had planned six years ago.
They're different people now.
Reid has spent years working in the shadows as part of Blackout Sierra. Caryssa has built a career and a life without him. The future they originally imagined is gone, but that doesn't mean they can't create a different one. Watching them slowly realize that was really special.
Caryssa was also a great addition to the team. She's an FBI intelligence analyst, and I loved that her skills actually mattered to the investigation. She's intelligent, capable, and good at putting complicated pieces together, so she isn't simply brought into the story as Reid's love interest. She has a job to do, and she contributes to the mission while trying to figure out what the heck she's supposed to do with the man she thought was dead.
And of course, putting these two in close quarters while they're trying to solve a dangerous weapons investigation is basically guaranteed to create tension. 😂
There are stolen military weapons, hidden evidence, leaks, killers, and a larger conspiracy unfolding around them, so there is plenty happening outside the romance too. I liked how the suspense kept the story moving while the relationship gave the book its emotional center.
I also have to mention the Blackout Sierra team because I really love this group. The camaraderie, the banter, and the way these men have slowly built their own found family are some of my favorite parts of the series. And I especially love seeing the women who have found their way into their lives. Caryssa getting pulled into that world made her connection to the team feel about more than just Reid.
And now I am sitting here thinking about Connor. 👀
I NEED to see who Em Petrova has planned for him because I have a feeling that woman is going to have to be just as feisty and explosive as he is. 😂
One of the things I appreciated most about Deep Cover is that it never loses sight of the emotional consequences of Reid's decision. There is action and danger, but underneath all of it is a man who gave up the woman he loved and a woman who spent six years believing she had buried her future. That makes every moment between them feel heavier.
This was a great second-chance romance because the love never actually disappeared. They just had to figure out whether there was a way to trust each other again and whether they could build a future from the pieces they had left.
Deep Cover gave me suspense, a strong military team, a smart heroine, a protective hero, plenty of tension, and a second chance romance filled with six years of feelings that never went away.
Another great addition to the Blackout Sierra series, and I am absolutely sticking around to see what happens next. ❤️

Deep Cover by Em Petrova is an emotional and suspenseful addition to the SEAL Team Blackout Sierra series! I absolutely loved the setup for Reid Rivers and Caryssa Lane. A second-chance romance is already one of my favorites, but add in a wounded SEAL who was presumed dead and the woman who had to grieve the future they were supposed to have together, and I was hooked. ❤️
Reid survived the gunshot that nearly ended his career and is finally back with his team. He’s supposed to be focused on finding out who’s behind a cache of stolen military weapons. The last thing he expects is for the FBI intelligence analyst brought in to help with the investigation to be Caryssa—the woman he never stopped loving.
But Caryssa’s side absolutely got me. 🥹 She didn’t think Reid had simply walked away from her. She believed he was dead. She’s spent years living with that loss, only to suddenly walk into a room and discover that the man she loved and mourned is very much alive. Talk about an emotional reunion!
I really enjoyed that Caryssa is an FBI intelligence analyst who brings her own expertise to the investigation. She’s there because she’s talented at putting together complicated puzzles, and I liked seeing her working alongside the Blackout Sierra team rather than simply being someone Reid needs to protect.
Of course, putting Reid and Caryssa back together means all those old feelings come rushing back too. The stolen glances, forbidden kisses, forced proximity, and memories of the future they once planned make it pretty clear that neither of them ever truly stopped loving the other. ❤️🔥
At the same time, there’s a dangerous investigation unfolding around them. The missing military weapons lead into a much larger conspiracy, and the closer Reid, Caryssa, and the team get to the truth, the more dangerous things become. I loved having that suspense running alongside their second-chance romance.
At 200 pages, this gives you a great combination of romance, danger, mystery, action, and emotion. Reid may be the protective alpha SEAL willing to risk everything, but Caryssa is smart and capable in her own right, which made me enjoy them even more as a couple.

Definitely another great book by Em Petrova for her SEAL TEam Blackout Sierra. This one packs suspense, a second chance romance and all the yearning two MCs can handle!
Reid is part of the Blackout Sierra team, a medic, and ultra protective. He is dedicated to the team at the cost of the love of his life 6 years ago, a decision he made to save her life. But his secret is about to be revealed when Caryssa, now an FBI agent, is sent as sort of liasion to his team.
Caryssa's life stopped the moment Reid chose to leave and die (that is how it had to be done for him to enter the SEAL team) instead of the marriage they were heading into. But seeing him again has her fighting between betrayal, anger, and love that has never died for him. Reid cannot believe she is here and he has very contradicting emotions, ranging from need, pride, angst, fear, but the need to hold onto to her and not let go.
As she gathers and works with the information she compiles, she also learns about the team and the women that have come in their lives and feels the pull of a found family even when she knows that as soon as the work is done she will have to leave again. But how can they live when they know that there is no way for them to be together as Reid does not exist in the real world anymore.
This book is full of action, lots of investigation and intelligent narrative, the camaraderie, the passion, and the yearning for what could be.

I went into Deep Cover expecting a military romantic suspense story, but what stayed with me was the emotional weight between Reid Rivers and Caryssa. Six years is a long time to believe someone you loved is gone, and the story really makes you feel how hard it is for Caryssa to suddenly have Reid standing in front of her again. Reid has his own battle too. Coming back to his team after being badly wounded should have been enough to deal with, but facing the woman he never stopped loving brings a completely different kind of pain. I enjoyed watching them try to work around all the things they cannot simply say to each other while also being pulled toward each other again. Their history gives even the quieter moments a lot of meaning. I also liked the Blackout Sierra team because they bring some much-needed humor into an otherwise tense story. The stolen weapons investigation keeps the suspense moving, while the relationship gives the book its heart. There are plenty of moments where I wanted to tell both Reid and Caryssa to stop fighting what they were feeling and just talk, but that frustration is part of what kept me turning the pages. The result is a romance where the danger matters, but the second chance between two people matters even more. If you enjoy military romance with a strong emotional history, secrets, danger and a love that refuses to disappear, this one is easy to settle into...

In the beginning the sparks flew between Reid and Carysse, but they soon settled into what they had before he had to join Blackout Sierra. It was discovered he had ties back to the disappearance of the weapons from Blackout Echo. The race was on to find whom had Bill killed and any other connections possible. The action moved swiftly when it came with Carysse, she was always involved and not always following orders. She ended up staying with Sierra under protective custody.

For Blackout Sierra, it is business as usual. For Reid Rivers, he has finally been cleared to return to the team. He is ready to get back to work and catch up on everything he has missed. The team is still digging into things but a FBI analyst is set to to join the team to assist with more. What no one sees coming is that Rivers and their FBI analyst, Caryssa Lane, have history and when they see one another the proverbial rug is pulled out from under both of them. This book continues to challenge team and the other blackout teams to figure out Echo Teams weapons and the internal leak that is endangering them all. This author continues to write an amazing story that continues to build and draw you in as its characters share another layer of themselves as they make you laugh, tear up and smile as they find their HEA. I cannot wait for Rorke's story - enjoy!.

Book 3 in the Blackout Sierra series delivers exactly what I wanted — a smooth transition, steady intrigue, and a reunion packed with messy, beautiful emotion. Reid and Caryssa have six years of heartbreak between them, and every bit of anger, guilt, betrayal, and lingering love shows. The plot moves at an even pace as the team digs into who set up Echo and which agencies they can trust, with humor sprinkled in to keep things balanced. I’m dying to know what’s behind the Cannon/Rorke bad blood. Caryssa running back into a burning building nearly made me yell, but watching the team slowly realize she’s trustworthy was worth it. And that spur‑of‑the‑moment wedding? Loved it.

This was another 5 star read in the Seal Team Blackout Sierra series and my favorite one by far!

Loved the story. Caryssa is a FBI agent who is sent to Blackout Sierra to talk to the waitress who knows something about the restaurant or the delivery driver which is the same thing that Sierra is tracking. The first person she sees when the hood is removed is Reid. The man who was supposed to have died six years earlier and was talking a house, and family with her before he died. To say she had mixed feelings that he was alive was an understatement. She is happy that he is alive but totally angry. Reid will find himself unable to stay away from "Ryss" and will have a uphill battle to have her accept that their attraction for each other never died. This book is full of drama, danger, mixed chemistry and a happy ending. I enjoyed this book.

Reid and Caryssa‘s story started 6 years ago and supposedly ended on the day he died. It restarts on the day she walks into SEAL Team Blackout Sierra and sees a deadman. This is one of Em Petrova’s best Bkackout books yet ! We get to see all of our favorite characters and the storyline of back from the dead to reunite with the woman you love is awesome! We also get the storyline of the missing hubs moved closer to being finished. The action in this one was on point in bed and out in the field ! The heat and history of the two main characters was palpable and I couldn’t help to root for Ryss to stay with Reid and the team. 5✨’s and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Deep Cover is the 3rd book in the SEAL Team Blackout Sierra series and I strongly recommend reading the books in order, because Caryssa and Rivers' story ends shortly after the previous one ends and there's very little recap. It's a very moving tale which more than the others focuses on the emotions of not just the main characters, but all the people at Sierra base. Longing, love, a protector's guilt for perceived mistakes, desire, a touch of envy - they all accompany another step on the team's way to solve the puzzle of missing weapons. There's a happy ending for the couple, but a tiny cliffhanger as well, as the next mission is just around the corner. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
