Can I be the fly that lives in the estates? Why do I say that? Because of all the drama of those that live in the Harrington Oaks Estates. Riley Rodriguez is an actress that has fallen off and is now trying to make a comeback but with the wrong type of business. Let’s just say she is putting it out there to be seen. She has the struggles with drugs and men that my hinder that comeback. Then we have the Bishop and his wife. They have a so-so marriage but the real drama is with their family. The sons named Micah and Malachi. Who I like to call Oil and Vinegar. Will this family ever be fully restored? Other tenants such as Harrington (the owner) and Mr. Can’t Keep It to Himself Douglas have issues that will keep your mind going and the pages flipping.
I love this book. I am a person that loves when an author can keep many storylines going. It was great to bounce from scene to scene just like a great movie. Now just waiting on part 2.

Hmmm.

This is my first read by La Jill Hunt. I was uber excited to read this novella because I heard so many great things about it, but I was a little let down. Although I somewhat enjoyed the suspense of the fire, I'm upset that it lasted for 39% of the book. There are a lot of characters, and Miss Hunt skillfully maneuvers through each character, and the backstory of the characters were intriguing, but there wasn't drama. The UMPH of what makes you wanna continue to read the book was slightly invisible.

So far, the only characters that I don't care much for is the Bishop and his son Micah. It's just something about hypocritical Christians that just...anyways, but I can tell (at least I hope) this installment is the setup for something spectacular that can happen. Other than the Bishop, there wasn't much character development going on and that's understandable. Hadn't La Jill overly focused on the fire and continued on with the drama and good storylines that every one had, and had this book been properly edited, this novel would've been a certified five star read for me.

For the love of God, I cannot understand why this book seemed like a decent editor's eyes didn't see over it. There were a lot of grammatical issues, Marcus was used when it should've been Sam, and if I'm not mistaken I could've sworn La Jill wrote in the beginning of the novella that one of the twins were born two hours later, but close to ending she said that Malachi was born five hours after Micah. I could be wrong about that, but I highly doubt it. I don't blame La Jill Hunt much for the editing, although as an author I feel like you should make sure that your "baby" is on point before it gets sent to print and/or uploaded to Amazon, but I mostly blame Ashley & JaQuavius because this book is published under their company, they named it Official Writers League, and they've been in this game long enough to know that their employees or "family" books should be on point at all times and in every aspect possible. I love them to death, but it's not a good look.

The Epilogue piqued my interest more and I can't wait to see how La Jill Hunt follows up to this in the next installment. She really has a soap opera hit on her hands if done correctly.

Seriously??

First of all, if you are going to end a book with such a cliffhanger can you please make it so it's a story I want to go back and revisit?

There were definitely some intriguing moments, but it fell flat after waiting so long to see what happened with the fire. I would have loved to hear more about what Jonah went through after his ordeal with his fiancé. Scorpio and Malachi was just not believable to me, and any editor worth a dime would have caught that earlier in the book she says that Micah was born 2 hours after Malachi and then close to the end of the book the Bishop says that Malachi was born 5 hours after Micah...well which one is it??

I'm disappointed. This is yet another LaJill Hunt book that has ended with an abrupt cliffhanger and unfortunately I'm not interested in what happens next.

Now that was some awesome "Tea"

LaJill brought the juicy full of drama good and bad to The Estates. When I tell you relatable characters and situations. I can't wait for part 2. This was an awesome read for the weekend. Lajill has the knack for this she never disappoints and she most definitely keeps it real. Bishop is about to be shocked I think God is about to move thru Chi coming on Book 2. And Btw Jonah WTH????????

I enjoyed reading The Estates by LaJill Hunt. There was a huge cast of characters and I enjoyed each of them. The Burkes were founders of a huge mega church and a family divided. Riley was a child star turned rotten. Lisa and Marcus were a couple from a small town who struck it rich playing the lottery. The ending came a little too sudden for me. So I anxiously await the 2nd part of this fascinating read.

Excellent

I loved this book. I was hooked from the first page. All of the characters were fully developed. It seems that people with more money have more problems. Each story was tied into the main story. I can't wait for Part 2. I recommend this book.

Page turner

Once you start reading this book you can't put it down. Everyone seems to be a mystery and you think if you just finish the next chapter you will get closer to finding out what's really going on. Well that won't happen because it's to be continued lol.
