Franklin W. Dixon is the pen name used by a variety of different authors who were part of a team that wrote The Hardy Boys novels for the Stratemeyer Syndicate (now owned by Simon & Schuster). Dixon was also the writer attributed for the Ted Scott Flying Stories series, published by Grosset & Dunlap. Canadian author Leslie McFarlane is believed to have written the first sixteen Hardy Boys books, but worked to a detailed plot and character outline for each story. The outlines are believed to have originated with Edward Stratemeyer, with later books outlined by his daughters Edna C. Squier and Harriet Stratemeyer Adams. Edward and Harriet also edited all books in the series through the mid-1960s. Other writers of the original books include MacFarlane's wife Amy, John Button, Andrew E. Svenson, and Adams herself; most of the outlines were done by Adams and Svenson. A number of other writers and editors were recruited to revise the outlines and update the texts in line with a more modern sensibility, starting in the late 1950s. The principal author for the Ted Scott books was John W. Duffield.
When I first read Hardy Boys, I think I was in class 5, I had such a crush on Frank Hardy. I liked the brainy one over the brawny one and that sums up my first impression of Hardy Boys. In their late teens, Frank and Joe Hardy take after their detective father Fenton Hardy. Frank is the older of the two and has more breakthroughs in the cases because he is the brainy one. Joe is the younger brother who more often than not is useful when things get hot and they need to fight their way out. Like Nancy Drew, the books in the The Hardy Boys series re written by ghostwriters under the collective pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon. And yes, the earlier books were better than the latter ones.
An OK end to the series. My grandson was surprised by the ending, and overall, enjoyed the trilogy. BTW, Franklin W. Dixon seems to have more lives than the Dread Pirate Roberts.
In 'Murder House', the third book in the Murder House trilogy, Frank and Joe decide to remain undercover as contestants with a group of teens on a reality tv show. The set is a luxury Beverly Hills mansion that is rapidly losing its luxuries. That is the show's gimmick, to deprive the kids of their luxuries and see them start lashing out at each other. However, something else is also going on and it doesn't look good at all. There is sabotage and weirdness. Plus, Frank has fallen for one of his fellow contestants - a girl that Joe also likes. And, Frank and Joe have to pretend to hate each other to keep their cover story good. There is tension everywhere. Good story.
This is a very good mystery. Franklin Dixon added great suspense to this book he really made it fun to read every page created more suspense and you just wanted to keep reading. It is a great book and I recommend this book to anyone who really enjoys mysteries.
There are about five kids who go to this deprivation house and it is a game they are playing and everyone is accused of murder when something really mysterious starts going on and people are getting... read the rest of the book to see what happens.
I really enjoyed this book because of its well-formed mystery setting. The characters were very well crafted and the setting is very interesting. The reality show along with a mystery the Hardy Boys have to solve makes a great storyline. I think it deserves 5/5 stars and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery books.
167 pages This book is for pages. This is the last book in the Deprivation House trilogy. Frank and Joe are still on the show, and while the suspects have dropped in number, they have risen in motivation. Two culprits have been taken away, but 1 or more remain. As it becomes more and more complex, it surprises everyone who the True And Final culprit is.
Deadly Scares are these thing that can scare away contansist .Well the Hardy Boys are under cover again this time to find another killer who is on the losse. Can the hardy Boys do it again and finnally go home .Read the story to find out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Murder House was very good. The main characters were Frank and Joe.The problem is that peopl are omost dying. They fix it by figring out hoe did it.I learnd that TV shows cood be about peopol living there livs.
Shocking. That's all I can describe that ending as. Shocking and slightly troubling, not to mention unexpected. It's all I can do not to launch into a long-winded, spoiler-filled rant. So just be warned that some readers might not be happy with the outcome. That's all I can say at this point.
A perfect ending to a thrilling trilogy. This book was as surprising as surprising could get. After reading the Murder House trilogy, I have to put it on my list of the top mystery books I have read and enjoyed.
