This was a good story, but it was less a love story and more an epic adventure. This was Star Wars without the space aspects, and with futuristic shifters. I liked the way the characters learned to depend upon and trust each other, and how the heroine learned and blossomed into a powerful & confident female Alpha. It was a bit light on the romance, even though the guys were hunks, but so full of adventure, angst, self-doubt, sword fights and magic enough to satisfy.

This book was interesting and it took place in post-apocalyptic time. I liked it more than I thought. I was wondering if I would when I started the book because it was post-apocalyptic. But I did enjoy the story. I think the characters were good and I liked the paranormal parts added in the mix. * I received this book from LibraryThing giveaway in exchange for an honest review*

I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND HERE IS MY HONEST OPINION OVER 18
I completely enjoyed this story and I look forward to many more. You have the gods Eros, the God of love and desire, and Chloe(Chlotho),the of birth, have a year long bet , filled with match making and passion. Ryder Sparks, the only daughter with 2older brothers (Cameron and Nathan), 1 younger brother (Jonathan). Mom(Julie) and Dad(Drake) own Sparks Sporting and Outdoors store. Ryder is going on her first solo hike in Grand Canon, Five days she plans to do in four. And you know it will not go as planed, she will get to her first camp and sleep. It will be the morning when she goes to the river to fill her water so she can pack and take off that things will start getting off her well planned hike. Now as there has must be a hero , Alpha Gideon Deckard will cover that part wonderfully, He is off to roam the Grand Canyon , before hiking season opens,he thinks. Now these two are the ones the God Eros has challenged the god Chloe to get them to fall in love in 2 weeks instead of the 4 she normally has because they will not get to the same area till then. And they are true mates, He knows it but does not know how to tell her , and keep her from running away if she ever comes to. Though he needs to give the young woman some credit, she figures things ( All Of It) out for herself,even with a splitting headache,swollen foot and a small amount of time she was knocked out. She also faced that she had to end her trip, due to injury. She thinks he can take her home, He thinks ,she is my mate, I am taking her home...Mine no ours. Now can he get her to agree that his home is our home? How will his clan react? How can he keep the other male wolves away from his unclaimed mate? But how can he handle this little spitfire mate? Who is used to dealing with her three over protective brothers and father, at least her mother understands( more then she does it seems). Then if he can manage all this , he will have to tell her family he is keeping her, if she agrees.

A wolf, the witch and the wastelands is set in a futuristic America that has been ripped apart by bands of shifters at war with each other. All that stands between the evil trying to dominat the wastelands and the people just trying to survive is one girl Lucia Brightwolf. When a message meant for Prince Joaquín falls into her hands Lucia finally had the chance to escape from her uncles estate.
The three main character Lucia who had an upbringing from a tyrannical bully of an uncle. She shows tremendous strength and empathy towards others. Thrust into a situation either by fate or by accident she takes on the role of alpha like a duck to water. I found Lucia showed a skill and courage to do what needed to be done and own up to what she was and what she was going to have to be come.
Avar Farid a pirate who is coerced into doing something that he doesn't want to do. Farid was an unexpected surprise for me as he showed integrity, kindness, dignity that I found very endearing. He showed a loyalty and a friendship that I didn't expect in a pirate.
Prince Joaquín showed tremendous courage and strength to do what he had to do. Save his people and the people that are not his people but they needed saving anyway. To help Lucia bring an end to the great evil that is treating the wasteland to keep everyone save.
A shifter story unlike any I have read before a very good read. The wolf, the witch and the wastelands has everything a good read needs hot sexy makes, a female alpha. 173 pages of page turning drama, integrity and lust. I can't wait for the next in the series to see what our Heros get up to and the adventures that await them.

I received an ARC of The Wolf, The Witch, & the Wastelands in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first Jacqueline Sweet book that I have read, WOW I was blown away with how indepth, magical & action packed it was. This shifter book is set in a world far into the future, where human's or Pure's are a rare commodity & shifters are everywhere, in any form & there are no longer any True Alpha's.... The world has been turned into wastelands & a war is ever present. I'm hoping that this is the start of a series, as I feel there is ALOT more to this story, as I found myself asking questions through out certain parts whilst reading.
This is a coming of age type story, full of comadarie, love, betrayal, bad & good boys, shifters, & lets not forget the female leads growth. The interraction between the characters is intense at times, but in good ways, the female lead, Lucia is comstantly learning, not only about herself but the history of the lands around her. The lead males are an interesting mix of shifter prince, Joaquin & human pirate, Avar.... both have their eye on Lucia as lover/mate.
For those who love a good shifter story, I do highly recommend you read "The Wolf, the Witch, & the Wasteland".

An adventure that begins after the world has gone through some kind of mass destruction and they live in the wastelands left behind where Lucia Brightwolf is a wolf shifter who has never shifted before and doesn't believe she ever will she lives with her uncle who owes a mine and has slaves that run it and guards to keep them from running away Lucia knows that he is a evil man and all she wants is to get away on this day they get two new slaves but Lucia forgets to attach the slave neck braces on them and one gets away the next morning she realizes her mistake and tries to correct it before her uncle realizes so she heads off with the other slave which is mate to the slave who got away and they eventually catch the mate and run into a giant spider and and large wolf Lucia is saved by the wolf who happens to be the the shifter who happens to have been waiting on her to turn up and the slave was looking for and then begins Lucia's journey to becoming a powerful Alpha there is plenty of adventure and fun lots danger along with some romance in this book to keep you interested until the end. It some times was annoying when Lucia would let her mind wonder to the most ridiculous things when she was in a dangerous situation but other than that I enjoyed it. Readers 18 and older.

This is the first book I have read by Jacqueline Sweet and after this one I am sure it will not be the last. I really loved the world building in this book and the interaction between the heroine who does not realize that she is an alpha at first and the 2 main hero's in the story. I am hooked on this series and can not wait for the next one to come out! I have my favorite hero picked out and hope that I will see the HAE that I am hoping for, but if in the long run Lucia picks the other hero in the story I don't think I would be truly disappointed either. Jacqueline Sweet has put herself on my list of author's to watch for and I will be looking at past releases for some of my next reads!

When I first started reading this I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I ended up liking it. I got sucked right into the story. They whole concept of the story is so intriguing because it is taking place in a post-apocalyptic time. Throw is some paranormal elements you have one fascinating story. I liked that Lucia was such a strong character. Lucia is attracted to two guys she feels the pull of her wolf for one and her human side for the pirate. She struggles with who to follow her heart with, but I must say what happens with that outcome made me very happy. I liked the epilogue it was a nice touch. Definitely give this book a read.

This is an action-packed shifter scifi adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat turning the pages as fast as you can to see what happens next. It's not your usual shifter book. There's a shifter prince, a pirate, and Lucia, who learns she's a gifted strong Alpha, who with the help of her pack, is going to take down the Suzeran and his witch and destroy the weapon too. This is the first book I read by Jacqueline Sweet, but it won't be the last. This book is for those who loves shifters, Pirates, and strong female leads. This story takes place is a post apocalyptic America and has just about everything you are looking for. This story does a have a love triangle but our heroine doesn't have to choose one and you will be happy with her choice. Yes there are some unanswered questions and hopefully we will get another story in this universe.

This has to be one of the best books I have read in awhile. Watching Lucia journey, not only emotionally, but as well as mentally. I enjoyed the steampunk edge, the "old" world, and of course the vivid descriptions of the characters. What I would give for this to be a movie! Our flirty pirate, had my heart at the beginning with his cocky grin and shady past. I was disappointed about Baron in the end, but he will get his! Every time Lucia used her alpha voice, I got goosebumps! Thank you so much for the wild ride, I am very eager for more!

Wow! I really love this book!! I went in thinking that I likely wouldn't enjoy reading this story for some reason, well once I started reading I couldn't put it down it totally got my attention. I love how Jacqueline described each character bringing them to life in my mind. If your a sucker for a strong female heroine plus action and adventure with the bonus of 2 sexy guys wanting her, oh and did I mention hot sex towards the end then you will love this book.

Great Adventure!!
Lucia has spent her life under her tyrant uncles' thumb. When the pirate, Farid comes to deliver slaves for work in her uncle's mine, her life will take an interesting turn. Lucia will find out that she can be much more than she ever imagined. Great read with lots of action, very exciting!

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. Great story about a young lady coming into her Alpha status when Alphas are no more and brings together a rag tag group to make a change in a futuristic world. More adventure than love story, and more of a group banding together to overcome evil. Great characters and plot! Awesome read.

This a romantic novel about shape shifters taking on the evil force that lays waste to communities in the wasteland. The new alpha, Lucia Brightwolf and her pack battle to Suzerain and defeat one of their ships. She is in love with both the prince and the pirate. I recommend this story.

Action packed adventure
