Presley French is young, beautiful, and someone wants her dead. Someone else—her former English teacher—wants to physically assault her. Someone else—the FBI—wants to interrogate her as a possible terrorist suspect. Someone else—Dani Ripper—wants to protect her, but can’t decide if Presley is insane, or just crazy. With nowhere left to turn, Dani contacts someone else—Donovan Creed—who refuses to get involved unless Dani agrees to owe him an Ultimate Favor.
PRELIMINARY
More action in the first few pages than any book I’ve ever read!
As always, I can’t decide which of Locke’s quirky supporting characters I like this time it came down to Bitter Bob, Stay Busy the Porter, and The Butter Man. I’m giving Stay Busy the nod, by a jellybean.
Dani has more pop culture references than an Urban Dictionary, and each one made me laugh. I would have bought this book for the rules of the drinking game alone, which I was ready for, after the dizzying action of the first four chapters.

i haven't missed a John Locke book yet. and don't plan to, as long as he keeps emailing me to tell me when the new one is ready, i'll buy everything he can cook up. always surprising and so, so much fun.
Another in the very long list of books from John Locke and the fourth in the Dani Ripper series. This book, like his other works, had me shaking my head trying to understand how in the world he comes up with this stuff. I read a lot of books, including all of Mr. Locke's books. The author list of my bookshelf is very diverse so, I can say with one hundred percent confidence that he is unique in both his writing style and at times, dizzying plot lines. The tale centers on, of course, PI Danni Ripper and her next client Presley who it seems, much like the beloved Peanuts character Pigpen who's a dirt magnet, is a disaster magnet, following her around like a cloud. The list of tragedies that befall Presley in just the first few chapters are impressive even by Mr. Locke's standards but Dani is on the case which should be comforting but as thing seem to go with Dani, things are as likely to go horribly wrong as right. Add in hitman Donovan Creed, another of the authors leading characters and the MAN in a series of book that I can shamelessly say is my second favorite character and series next to Jack Reacher from Lee Child. Sprinkled throughout are lines that at times had me laughing, jaw-dropping, and reading some to make sure I'd really read what I thought I did. There's Dani's battle with understanding and using popular sayings and numerous mentions of pop culture events and shows some of which call into question Mr. Locke's man card. I suspect that a review is in order after this book. Fans rejoice as it's another hit from Mr. Locke and if you're new to the author and his works you can surely buy this and be happy with the money you've spent but I would tell you to start at the beginning and jump to the other series as you feel. You'll know when it's time to read each series as they are all interconnected which is another thing that he excels at. Fire up the Kindle or e-reader of your choice and click Buy.
There's nothing like a John Locke book to grab my attention from the first sentence to the very last one, and this does the same thing. His books are never long enough and I read them in one sitting. All Dani Ripper books seem to revolve around some kind of sexual abuse or rape issues, and this is another one. Of course, Ripper is on the case and there is no where for the bad guy to hide. I devoured this one like I do every other Locke book. And this one was especially fun because there was a bunch of Creed in there, and who can resist Donovan Creed? Gotta love a Locke book!
Another great book just wish it was longer and wish there were more to the series. These books are so great I just want to start the next one right away. I hope there will be additional books coming soon.
I've never read a John Locke book I didn't like! That said, Don't Tell Presley was another good read in typical John Locke fare. with the obligatory guest appearance by Donavon Creed the book is hard to put down and leaves you wanting the next book.
Another delightful Dani novel. Locke can take the most violent and upsetting story lines and magically keep it light and funny. This is my favorite Dani Ripper story yet.
I liked the beginning. It was a big surprise, since everything was starting in first point of view. I hope it was not that big of a spoiler. Over all, I really like it.
