Fool me once… Juliet Chambers only ever wanted one thing: to be Mrs. Tanner Wentworth. In love since they were kids, and with adjoining ranches and their parents as business partners, marriage for this beautiful couple was inevitable. But Juliet’s deception, combined with the loss of a child, destroyed their chance at happiness. Fool me twice… Tanner Wentworth only wants two things: to get access to his trust fund and to get his wife out of his life forever. His hot dance moves on the stage at BeefCake, Inc. may wow all the ladies, but Tanner isn’t interested. He has bigger dreams. And none of them include his treacherous soon-to-be-ex wife. Third time lucky? But when Juliet’s beloved grandmother has a stroke, Tanner agrees to pretend to be a happily married couple one last time, just until she’s well enough to handle the news that her favorite couple is calling it quits for good. But seven years of separation have changed a lot of things. Is it enough for the once-bitten-twice-shy Tanner to reconsider and risk a retake on the one woman who never stopped loving him?
Award-winning, best-selling author Judi Fennell loves to laugh and loves love, so it’s no surprise there’s a little bit of each in every book she writes. Check out her flirty fun… seriously sexy light-hearted tongue-in-cheek paranormal and romantic comedies. Judi lives in suburban Philadelphia with a menagerie of four-legged friends, and the minute those creatures start A) singing, B) sewing clothing, or C) cleaning the house will be the day she retires from writing…
Well this is book 3 out of the 4 I have read in 3 days! That's a big thing for me being a single mum of 4! I have loved each of them but still hoping to see a book about Cara! Guessing that wont happen though as shes not a Beefcake! Well done Judi I am now hooked on your books and want to read more and more!
I have loved Judi Fennell's books since I read her mermaid series. Her writing and sense of humor has had me crying from laughing so hard. Her books and her characters stay with me, but this one really topped the others.
Beefcake and Retakes hit me right in the gut. The best stories take you on a journey through the emotions, and Beefcake and Retakes did that. I couldn't put the book down.
The main characters had been school sweethearts who had grown up together and had their share of tragedies and strife in their lives. I was sobbing along with Juliet and could feel every ounce of her pain as she worked through her past, because until she did there would be no future.
Tanner takes a break from dancing at Beefcake Inc to return to his hometown with his estranged wife when he learns that her Nana has had a stroke and is doing poorly. Although the divorce papers are planned to be served in a few weeks, they play the reunited couple to help her health mend.
I loved Tanner and Juliet, they had faults, but I loved them anyway as they struggled to work their way through the roadblocks that life can throw at you.
In the past I've described other Judi Fennel books as"light" and "quick" reads that will make you laugh out loud. Beefcake and Retakes (although I did wrap it up in one day and it did have lots of humor and hunky strip....um dancers) was a deeper journey of second chances...of two people growing up and finding love again. I loved this book.
