I read this book in Kannada ' nakshatra jaridaga ' translated by Ravi belagere... just amazing book... thanks to Yandamoori virendranath... no words.. just amazinng..
Usually in these kind of apocalyptic stories the ending is that people are saved. But in this one even the ending of the world seemed like what should happen has happened. With demeaning values, only the apocalypse could save the world.
The writing is perfect. I was in a trance while and after reading the book. Amazing to see how he could fit many concepts and idealogies in just 120 pages.
Dull drab social drama set in the guise of a sci-fi novel. A star has blown and earth might just get blasted is the sci-fi part. The remaining is about lovers, wives and husbands and families. It could as well have been anything - the characters we are supposed to care for might as well have been in danger of falling under bombing during war - they have nothing to do the star, and nor hasthe star anything to do with the story.
It's a simple and a quick read. I've finished it in just one day. 5 reading hours to be precise despite me being a slow reader. The story is decent and hooks you up enough to finish it quickly. Not one of Yandamoori's best. But it'll do if you'd like to add something decent to your list.
