** Warning: Redemption is book 3 in the Keepers of Hell Series. It contains adult content, such as profanity, sex and violence. It also contains specific references to Heaven and Hell, and not necessarily what is considered true or accepted.
Jake the Flame lived his life in sin. He pushed everyone who cared about him away with his selfishness and greed. A professional fire fighter, he happened to be there when a bomb devastated a church, and he gave his life helping others escape. That is when he met Ash, the new leader of Hell. Ash offers Jake a job he can't refuse as a member of the Elite Guard, a group of warrior angels charged with protecting Ash and the balance between Heaven and Hell. This could be Jake's only chance at redemption, and he takes it.
While learning to do his job and keeping an eye on the next potential Guard, Jake learns where his place in Hell really is.
Shelly is the leader of Greed and Jake is on her list. She wants him, and not just in her realm of Hell. She is driven by jealousy to mark him and make sure no one doubts who he belongs to.
A group of human Satan worshipers is not happy with the new rule in Hell, and is determined to see the gateway between Hell and Earth opened. They will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it means kidnapping a demon, the leader of Greed, and using her blood for their evil endeavors. Will Jake learn to embrace his new power and the growing feelings he has for Shelly? Will he be able to find her before it’s too late?
I live in KY with my family. While I hold a "real job" my first love will always be writing. I enjoy lots of different kinds of books, and many different authors. Some of my favorites are, but not limited to, Sandra Hill, Lori Foster, Kelly Armstrong, Stephen King, James Patterson, J.R. Ward and Emma Holly. But I think I would read just about anything with a good plot.
I'm a huge fan of Danielle James' work. This is the third novel in The Keepers of Hell series and follows Jake (Ash's first recruit into the Elite Guard) and his storyline with adjusting to his new position and his interest in Shelly (the keeper of Greed). James' novels are fast-paced, easy read and Redemption was no exception. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Can't wait to see who Lucy ends up with!
This series just keeps surprising me and keeping me on my toes! We meet Jake, hot, sexy, firefighter when he's deposited in hell. Prechosen by Ash to be an Elite Guard, Jake plummets toward the light when it's his time only to discover that the light is the biggest hell fire he's ever seen. He agrees to Ash's terms because he knows if he doesn't, he'll be spending eternity there suffering anyway. Although he was selfless and died saving people, Jake has problem. He's a gambler and can't say no. When he meets Shelley, he knows he's in trouble. He's attracted the hotheaded demon that runs Greed. She's angry because he was supposed to be hers, hoarding piles of rocks like gold to try to buy his way out for an eternity. He proves it too. While on tour in her realm, he sees the same golden illusion as everyone else and attempts to enter. Ash gets him out and tells him to stay away knowing if he goes back, Greed will own him for eternity. Shelley knows he belongs to her, but thinks it's just because he was on her list. She's a spitfire and can not only dish it out, she can take it. She's pissed that not just Jake, but another soul has learned to beat the system. The obscenities and name calling between her and Jake had me laughing me ass off. Adding them with Antonio will have people looking at you crazy if you read this in public. They are hilarious together. This story is once again action packed with twist and turns that keep you flipping pages along with hot sexiness that keeps you begging for more. You do not want to miss out on this edition of the series and learning what Ash is up against and how Jake and Shelley overcome everything to be together. Onto Lacy's story! I'm excited, a female Guard!!!!
I'm not someone who likes to read a series that doesn't follow the same character throughout the books. However, the main character in Redemption, Jake, was barely mentioned in Salvation so it was still okay for me.
The only thing I didn't like about this book is how parallel everything was for the first half of it. I felt like I was reading Ash's story just in a different body and different personality. At the half way point, though, the book shifted and it was everything I have grown to love about Danielle James work.
I loved Jake's personality and the fight that he has in him. He and Shelly are a force to reckon with and have the funniest first lovers quarrel you'll ever read. Out of this series this book was the hottest, steamiest one. Those sex scenes were hot as Hell!
I'm thankful that Ash was still there in the story and we got some great territorial scenes pertaining to Elizabeth. Antonio is still his funny goofy self and pops up right when you need him most.
After reading Salvation and how intense and suspenseful it was, this book was a lot more tame. The conflict was just setting the paving stones for the next book and I can already tell that one will be amazing.
The ending of this book is a cliffhanger and for once this cliffhanger is one you want the next book for. I'm ready to see how Ash and his guards handle the situation that's about to happen and I want to know what's going on with Liam. Bring on Lacy's story!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
"Smoking hot" If you could sum up Redemption in three words, what would they be? Smoking hot fireman
Who was your favorite character and why? Ash is normally my favorite character that I can't get enough of but Jake is so amazing. I wish I could watch this series as a TV series. So I could watch and see the smoking hot guys fall in love and fight evil with their shirts off. All the while being reminded that God loves us and their is redemption for all of souls.
What does Miles Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? I don't think I've ever listened to an narrator that can deliver over and over again. The hot-tie guy voice that unconditionally loves his woman and protects her from anything again and again. Who is really a teddy bear inside for said woman. He really has a serious talent for it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes and I want to listen to them all over again.
Any additional comments? The author has a running theme of redemption in her series that is very heart touching. She has an amazing talent for the paranormal and romance. That she some how she gets her message out to us. As we are swept along in the story line that no one no matter what nobody is unloved by god our father. In book 1 I was surprised but in book 2 and 3 I was listening for it. Personally I could never get enough of her writing. She has drama, romance, the paranormal and a message that I know I needed in my life also. She is just simply amazing. Thank you for sharing your world with us. Big Hugs.
YES! Jake is here and I couldn't be more excited! When we left off in Salvation I just knew Jake was going to be my guy. Strong, Firefighter, underground fist fighter, flawed but has a heart, and oh so sexy *WINK*
This is the most comedic paranormal romance I have EVER read. You will be laughing out loud so be sure to read where people won't look at you like you've escaped from the local looney bin. The back and forth banter between these characters are priceless!
But the laughter will come to a halt when Danielle brings in the action and, of course, the steam. When Jake decides to join the Elite Guard he wasn't too sure what he was getting into but he sure knew he wanted to get into Shelly, the leader of Greed. He was marked to be hers but since accepting his position he escaped the fate of spending eternity in her level of greed. But she couldn't escape the need to have him as hers; in more ways than one.
Action, suspense, romance and laughter; this is truly an intense read. I can't wait for the next book after the sneak peek in the epilogue!!!
Danielle does it again, I loved this book. Jake is a man who is conflicted with the decisions he's made in life and he's given the opportunity to make a difference in the world by being recruited by Ash the Ruler of Hell. Shelly is the leader of Greed and Jake is hers and she will have him one way or another that is until Shelly is summoned and held captive. Jake sets out to do all he can to get her back. This book is full of hot sex and humour that will have you laughing out loud and smiling long after you have read the book. The pub scene with Jake and Antonio deserves a special mention as does the row between Jake and Shelly. This book opens up lots of different avenues to potential storylines so I can't wait for the next one. I would love to know more about Jamie and I'm loving Lacy already.
All of Ms. James' books are must reads for any paranormal romance fan! I started with the Forbidden Love series and fell in love with the Knight family. When I finished , I grieved like I was losing some of my very best friends! I was unbelievably happy to stumble upon her newest series , Keepers of Hell!! And just like the Knight's I have already fallen head over heels for her inhabitants of Hell! Danielle has way of sucking you into her tale on the very first page and holding you captive to the end! Redemption is full of humor, sadness, suspense, love and some oh so 'hot as hell' steamy scenes!! Even though I'm not the biggest paranormal romance fan, I absolutely love the concept of this series and cannot wait for the next book! I'm definitely a fan for life and count her as my new favorite series author!! I only see it getting better and better from her!
"4 Smokin' Hot Star... Literally " First I loved it, second the wit dang I love wit in my books.
This is a first by author and narrator and I want more. So will you.
I can see its a series I don't feel like I am missing any of the story per say just wanting to know what happened before for sure.
Jake gets a unique proposition become something he isn't sure of or go on to heaven or hell. Ash the angel is funny and mysterious you get the gist you don't want to be on his bad side. Jake ha to come to terms with his new self, and its kind of fun to listen to.
He meets some fun loving characters.. yes that was sarcasm, Shelly is a demon and they have some explosive chemistry oh the barbs they fling is total foreplay!!
OMG when Jake get drunk... I can't even you guys it was to funny. As you can see I enjoyed this story more then most.
Jake, a newly sworn member of Ash's Elite Guard, is having trouble wrapping his head around his new home, especially the red-haired bombshell who runs Greed! Their insult slinging is pretty hilarious! When Shelly disappears, the gang move heaven and earth to find her. We also get introduced to Lacy, potentially a new warrior.
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
I love Ash, and I love this series...now we have Jake on the team, and Jake is a bit of a loose cannon....but I think he is going to fit in just right! Ash has a lot ahead of him I think..and I cant wait for book 4!!
