What should have been a pleasant cruise in the Caribbean for Leopold Holmes and his team of crack investigators after they boarded the Sea Empress should have been predictable. Joining a voyage on the world's most famous cruise liner under the protection of husband & wife security experts Marsha & Danny Jones is not always a picnic...or a midnight buffet! Terror has been stalking this ship for seven years. Now the world is upside down and terror returns again to the exotic islands and peaceful beaches of seas once hunted by bloodthirsty pirates. Join the Sea Empress for a fateful adventure. Will the world once again be safe for a vacation?
Writing in true crime, maritime history and cruise thrillers occupies most of Ken Rossignol's time. As a maritime history speaker, Rossignol enjoys meeting audiences around the world and discussing the original news stories of the sinking of the RMS Titanic and other maritime history topics. In recent years Rossignol has appeared on dozens of ships in the Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean and Caribbean discussing the stories of the heroes of the Titanic, the explorations of the new world voyagers, the Bermuda Triangle and the history of piracy. Rossignol appears at the Titanic Museum Attractions in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Branson, Missouri for book signings and to talk with visitors about the RMS Titanic. He has appeared on Good Morning America, ABC 20/20; ABC World News Tonight and in a 2012 production of Discovery Channel Investigation Motives & Murders Series, A Body in the Bay. News coverage of Rossignol’s landmark civil rights case, represented by Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz re: United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Rossignol v Voorhaar, 2003, included articles in most major news outlets, as well as a column by syndicated columnists James J. Kilpatrick. The story of the St. Mary's Today newspaper is now available in ebook and paperback: The Story of THE RAG! The book includes nearly 200 editorial cartoons that appeared over the years. A strong highway safety advocate, Rossignol also publishes the DWIHitParade.com which focuses on impaired driving and the monthly publication, The Chesapeake. News coverage of Rossignol’s DWIHitParade won an Emmy in 2012 for WJLA reporter Jay Korff and coverage of the St. Mary’s Today newspaper by WUSA reporter Bruce Leshan was awarded an Emmy in 2000.
Marsha and Danny Jones are once again challenged as never before! ISIS Terrorists film a beheading on the bow of the Sea Empress which is then broadcast to the world. Marsha and Danny's Security Team is augmented by the FBI, a Special Contracted Investigator to Scotland Yard, the US Navy and US Coast Guard after an attack similar to the 9/11 attack. As a result of this attack the President asks Congress to Declare War on ISIS and our Allies rally to join forces with the USA! The President, Prime Minister of England along with the Canadian Prime Minister meet aboard the Sea Empress to plan a joint response! It might be a good read for the current occupant of our White House to learn a bit about presidential leadership.
A great read that will drag you into the thick of the fray, and look for a followup as well!
Danny and Marsha are at it again!!! Can’t there ever be a nice, quiet cruise??? Plastic??? And I thought Titanium was what would get you the security scanners!!! We now have breaking news…and wait… we have a … We can only wish for a President Wilkins during our time now ☹ I enjoyed the story – rough as it was – and recommend the book.
When the film of two terrorists are seen beheading an American man, panic takes off; especially aboard the cruise ships Sea Empress and Baroness. It is determined that the location of the beheading film is that of the foredeck of the Sea Empress. Eventually, the victim is discovered to be a waiter from Baroness, named Henry Kipling. The film also stars John Dexter aka Jihad John and Christopher Schwartz, both British citizens, turned radical. Scenes of 9/11 are again reality when a private seaplane, packed with explosives, crashes into the swimming pool on the fantail of Baroness. The loss of life is catastrophically high at 274, and this is just the beginning. A rash of bombings on American interests and the real threat of importing a “dirty bomb” onto US territories, keep the Black & Perkins Security Company and various US anti-terrorist organizations jumping. Mary Jorday joins the security team and adding a new dimension to this well-worn series. Her feisty attitude and actions instantly endeared her to me. Unfortunately, today no terrorist series would be complete without something committed by ISIS (Islamic State). You need not be disappointed because this story gives it to you in spades. It is an interesting premise, even if it is a little too close to present-day news reports.
I’ve read the entire series and must admit that I was overwhelmed. Although I didn’t get queasy from the prolonged stay on pleasure cruises, the dangers lurking everywhere gave me a nervous feeling. This story, the sixth and last of the series is better than the first four, but still a long way from BEST SELLER status. Many of the stories seem to drag on and then abruptly end; as if the writer ran out of patience or inspiration. I hope the author doesn’t take this review hard or personally as in Cruise Killer, I’ve gleaned a new insight into his mind.
Okay, WOW. I think Rossignol fully grabbed my attention with this volume of the Marsha & Danny Jones series. A few hundred dead passengers on a cruise ship can do that.
I can tell that Ken likes to keep up with current events in his stories. He mentions the recent Panama Canal expansion, shows his absolute fondness over Kindles, but especially hits upon the recent ISIS attacks. This stuff is straight from our headlines into a fictional story where these characters are dealing with the same type of news that we are in real life.
BIG STUFF HAPPENS.
This one is a short read, but I liked it just like it is. It's a great way to lead into the next batch of volumes he is writing about this security/detective couple.
