I'm trying so hard to finish this one, but the typos are making it extremely difficult. The vicar's wife is called Sharon, Susan, and Melanie at different times. This should have been an easy catch.

I kept getting distracted throughout the book by the name errors. Melanie/Susan/Sharon are interchanged for the wrong people multiple times and I kept having to go back to re-read to try to figure out who was who. This was entertaining but the mistakes made me too scattered to enjoy it.

I was finally going to give up on reading any further books in the series because the main character had become so unlikable. This is the first book in a very long time in which she wasn’t rude, entitled, selfish and thoughtless towards everyone else in the book… including those who were meant to be her beloved friends. However, in this book she was more not those things at all. I love the plot lines in this series, so I’m grateful she has turned the page and matured a bit!
The story kept me fully engaged (however-loads of typos and errors in the book were sometimes distracting.). It was an interesting and different setting than usual. I also appreciated the new characters in the mix.

Twist
I love all of this series. They aren't deep or complicated. Vi half guesses her way to the answer based on gut feelings and her knowledge of human nature, but i enjoy this series anyway. The one major flaw is find is the editing. Names are changed often, as if the author initially named a character one name only to go back and change it to something else but only change half of them. Also the cast is getting big enough its hard for them to shine as much. But I'll still read the next ones because clean cozy mysteries in a historical setting like this is hard to beat.

I liked the story but please proofread
It is hard to follow the flow when there are so many errors. The Vicar's deceased wife's name changed three times. Susan on pg 21, Melanie on pg 16, 48-127 and Sharon on pg 57. I think it was page 57 that she was called Melanie and Sharon in the same three sentence paragraph. There are missing words throughout and strike throughs from pg 123 to 130. I like the book but I have noticed this in the last two books. I read one review that stated they liked the earlier books more than the recent ones and I have to agree. I want to keep reading this series because I like the characters and how they relate to each other so please fix this.

As usual, a good story and in need of a good proofreading.

Awful!
I tried to like this but as with many of this series (certainly the latter ones) it was awful. It may seem a small point, but English hamlets don't have churches. It's not having a church that makes it a hamlet. Neither do we have autos, we have motor cars and those cars have a boot, not a trunk. Also we do not sick up, we throw up or vomit. It's not difficult to do a little research, after all there is a whole internet to explore. Please use it. Should I mention the reason for there being no blood on the killer? Perhaps not as it was just too stupid for words.

Great Book but Too Short
This book and the previous one are really short stories. I enjoy them both, but kind of feel cheated. I realize that it must hard to continue writing the for same characters after almost 50 books. I hope it gets easier. Would hate to lose Vi and Victor, et al.

Took a while but the zipped!
I love all of the Violet Carlyle series and can't wait for the next! This was different with different speakers for each chapter but just as entertaining.

A Great Addition to the Series
Beth Byers comes through again with this Violet Carlyle Mystery. It is fun to see Lila take a starring roll as the group plays matchmaker for Denny's cousin.

loved it
Once again another great read. Books and authors could get a lot more ratings if there wasn’t this limit on how many letters you had to include. 🫤
