Verity lives a sensible life with her husband and is nothing like her carefree, elite skydiving sister, Grace. Except now, Grace has gone missing in Spain, after jumping out of a plane and everyone agrees that she can’t have survived. But Verity can’t move on until she uncovers the truth. Leaving her simple life, she travels to Spain and soon realises Grace’s life was far less carefree than she imagined.

Having enjoyed all of this author’s books and Runner 13 being a favourite of mine last year, this was one of my most anticipated reads. I also felt drawn to the eye catching cover. This ended up not disappointing, being another adrenaline fuelled ride, all the way to dramatic end. What I really love about this author’s books, is that she introduces me to extreme worlds that I have limited knowledge on, which are fascinating to learn about and feel fresh and unique. I really enjoyed discovering the skydiving community, which felt well researched and made for an action packed, suspenseful plot, teaching me new things.

The mystery element was written well, where I kept second guessing myself, needing to find out the truth, along with the main character. There were a good few characters introduced early on, but I soon managed to differentiate between them and could feel the desperation and emotion felt, feeling a connection. I enjoyed discovering the family dynamics, as well as the rich descriptions of the environment and skydiving itself, while appreciating how it all came together.

I was very pleased that this was another entertaining, fun thriller and I really can’t wait to see where the author takes her next book. She has definitely landed on the favourites list. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Review of Watch Her Fall, by Amy McCulloch. Thanks to the publisher Michael Joseph for the free advance copy for review purposes.

Five stars.

Not many authors would go as far as becoming a licensed skydiver just to be able to write a realistic story, but Amy McCulloch has done just that, and the result is an exhilarating, psychological thriller. It was a lot of fun and I recommend this if you are looking for a dramatic, action-packed tale.

Elite skydiver Grace went missing a year ago during a skydive, presumed dead with her parachute found in the sea. Her sister Verity is determined to find out what happened, and travels to Spain to get to the truth.

This is a bit different from my usual reads, but I found myself really enjoying it, and was desperate to find out how it ended. There are a number of twists in the story that I never saw coming and the final chapters were very dramatic. The skydiving scenes really captured a feeling of what it is like to throw yourself out of a plane, although not something I could ever do myself! Overall it is very well written.

The characters are realistic and believable, all drawn to skydiving for different reasons. Verity is stepping outside her comfort zone, determined to find out what happened to her sister. We build up a picture of Grace and her friends via flashbacks; she's a fascinating enough character that she could have had a separate book of her own.

By pure coincidence I was in the Seville area when I read this, where the book is set, so that helped set the atmosphere for me! I’m definitely going to find more to read by this author.

I'm always excited to read a new Amy McCulloch book because they are always set in a world I know little about, so I get to read a good thriller and learn something at the same time! After discovering mountain climbing and ultramarathons in the previous books, this time it was skydiving. The amount of research that went in to this book is applaudable, the skydiving scenes were by far my favourite parts of the book.

The mystery of what happened to Grace had me intrigued, and I enjoyed following her sister Verity as she went behind the scenes at a skydiving camp and started to uncover clues as to what had happened.

I really enjoyed this book, but if I'm being picky some of the interactions with the 'bad' characters felt a bit pantomime, and some parts stretched my ability to suspend belief a little too far.

Overall a fantastically researched, entertaining book which I would recommend.

Verity and Grace couldn’t be more different, but when Grace mysteriously disappears after a skydive in Spain, Verity is determined to find out what really happened to her sister.

The more she investigates, the more she realises she never really knew Grace at all. With secrets, enemies and plenty of questions, Verity finds herself caught up in a dangerous search for the truth.

This story that keeps you guessing, with twists, suspense and secrets waiting to be uncovered. I’m intrigued to find out what really happened to Grace and whether Verity will discover the truth before it’s too late.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of *Watch Her Fall* before publication. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I really enjoyed the premise of *Watch Her Fall*. Verity has always been the sensible, responsible sister, while Grace is the adventurous one — an elite skydiver who seems completely fearless. But when Grace jumps from a plane in Spain and simply disappears, Verity refuses to accept that her sister is dead without knowing what actually happened.

What drew me in immediately was the mystery surrounding Grace’s disappearance. Nobody saw her land, no body has been found and there are so many unanswered questions that it is impossible for Verity to simply move on. Her decision to travel to Spain herself feels believable because she needs answers even if finding them means stepping completely outside the safe life she has created for herself.

I particularly liked the contrast between the sisters. Verity initially thinks she understands Grace, but the more she investigates, the more she realises that the carefree life she had imagined was hiding relationships, enemies and secrets she knew nothing about. That gradually changes the mystery from “where is Grace?” into the much more unsettling question of who Grace really was.

The skydiving element gives the book something different too. There is already an inherent danger to the sport, so it becomes difficult to separate genuine accident from deliberate harm. The Spanish setting and extreme-sport world also give the thriller a more adventurous feel than the usual missing-person mystery.

There were a few moments where the investigation stretched credibility slightly, and some of the thriller elements felt more familiar than the central premise itself. I also think the character relationships could have been developed a little further. But the pacing kept me interested and I genuinely wanted to know whether Grace was dead, hiding or the victim of something much darker.

Overall, *Watch Her Fall* was atmospheric, tense and very easy to keep reading. I enjoyed the sister relationship, the unusual skydiving setting and the gradual discovery that Grace’s life was far more complicated than Verity ever knew. A gripping adventure thriller with a strong central mystery.

Grace, a bright and bubbly model, has died in a freak skydiving accident in Spain, leaving behind her sensible sister, Verity, who is unable to come to terms with her death, especially as their last conversation ended in a row.
Told from two timelines and perspectives, we travel back through Grace’s life in the lead-up to the fall. She has walked away from the modelling world because she has been secretly living with a stalker, her self-styled “number one fan”, who has plagued her every move. After meeting Alice in a rehab centre, Grace joins her in her passion for skydiving stunts. Alongside Carmen, the trio become known as “the three Fates”.
With Grace’s body never recovered, and with no closure to be found, Verity decides to throw caution to the wind and sign up for a training course, determined to complete a solo parachute jump of her own. While there, she meets her sister’s friends and hopes to understand why Grace led such a high-risk lifestyle. She also teams up with Rachel, another friend of Grace’s, and together they try to unravel the mystery of her death: was it suicide or an accident?
There were a couple of curveballs thrown in, pointing towards some shady and obsessive characters who might want Grace to disappear, so it was a real surprise when the culprit was finally revealed. The tension builds nicely, and the dual timelines keep you guessing as the pieces slowly fall into place.
This is a high-octane page-turner with plenty of heart-in-the-mouth moments, and it has real heart too, thanks to the complicated bond between the two sisters. The premise is exciting, and the result was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, for the opportunity to read this ahead of publication.

This is a fast paced story of a sister's search for an explanation of her sister's apparent death after a parachute jump in Spain. Verity is searching for information about her sister, Grace, a dare devil but accomplished parachutist who vanishes after leaving a plane. Part of her parachute is found in the ocean and suicide is given as cause of death. About. a year after Grace's death, Verity finds the strength to visit the site and take lessons herself. At the flying school she meets Rachel, who was also a friend of Grace and who is also after answers, as she was helping Grace track down a stalker who had driven her to the edge of reason once already, but who just before her death appeared to have resurfaced.
The story is well researched and as many reviewers have already said, I learned a lot about sky diving - not least that I would hate it. There are a lot red herrings with numerous shady characters who could have wished Grace and now Verity, harm. Probably because of this, I didn't warm to any of them very much and that rather spoiled my reading. The ending, when it comes also appeared rather far fetched and too extreme to be believable even for a story at that is adrenaline filled as this.
I'm sure many will find it an entertaining thriller but a little too much for me.

I really enjoyed this book. The skydiving setting was such an interesting backdrop and I loved learning more about the sport as the story unfolded. It added something different to the thriller and made the whole book feel fresh.

What really kept me hooked, though, was constantly trying to work out what was going on and who I could trust. Several times I was convinced I’d figured out who the stalker was, only to start second-guessing myself a few chapters later. I kept changing my mind, questioning my theories and wondering whether I’d completely got it wrong, which definitely kept me turning the pages.

Eventually I did manage to figure out where it was heading before the final reveal, and that’s probably the only reason this was a four-star rather than a five-star read for me. With a thriller, I love that feeling of genuinely having no idea right up until the end. That said, it didn’t spoil my enjoyment at all and I still thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything come together.

This was my first Amy McCulloch book, but it definitely won’t be my last. She’s firmly going on my list of authors to read more from.

A really enjoyable, tense and intriguing thriller with a setting that made it stand out from the crowd

Absolutely brilliant! Watch Her Fall is a dark, fast-paced thriller centred on ambition, deceit and family, all set against the backdrop of competitive skydiving.

The world of the book is incredibly immersive. The risky, adrenaline-fuelled sport creates an atmosphere of constant high stakes which carries throughout the novel and makes for compelling reading. I was completely invested in discovering what had happened to Grace, and the shifting perspectives worked particularly well in building intrigue and keeping me guessing.

Both Grace and Verity are brilliantly executed characters, and I found it easy to invest in each of them. Their contrast is excellent, while their shared determination and strength of character create an underlying sense of sisterhood that anchors the story.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I think readers who enjoy fast-paced, sport-based thrillers will love this.

Verity and Grace are sisters, but they could not be more different. Verity lives a sedate and settled life with her husband Carl while Grace has been a daredevil all her life, causing great grief to their mother in particular.

But Grace's glittering lifestyle - initially as a model, and then as an extreme sports athlete -has attracted unwanted attention, including a stalker. When Grace loses her life in a skydiving accident (which is initially ruled suicide), Verity cannot believe it.

Finally, she goes to the sky driving spot in Spain where Grace's accident occurred, without telling her husband.

But there are many people keeping their own secrets in this story. And in addition to the shots of skydiving adrenaline she provides, McCulloch also keeps the reader guessing until the end. So strap in, and prepared to suspend disbelief for a wild ride!

Gripping, twisty and such a different premise!

A thriller set in the high risk world of skydiving? Yes, please! The whole concept felt fresh and original, and I was hooked by the tension, the danger and the unsettling feeling that things could go wrong at any minute.

There is something about taking a sport where one wrong move could be fatal and mixing it with suspense and psychological twists that makes this such a compelling premise. The atmosphere definitely had me gripped, and I loved that this felt different from your usual thriller.

Amy McCulloch really brings a unique setting to the genre, creating a story that keeps you on edge and makes you want to keep turning those pages. If you are looking for a thriller that offers something a little different, add this one to your TBR!

I've never read a book by Amy McCulloch and this was a fantastic one for my first read. Watch her fall is fast paced, addictive and immersive. The characters of Verity and her sister Grace are well planned out and you feel for both of them. This book must have taken a lot of research and it shows throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it if you like suspenseful psychological thriller's.

As soon as I started reading this book I realised that it wasn't my usual choice, but despite this I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is my first Amy McCulloch book and I really liked her writing style as it was easy to get into.
There were plenty of twists which kept me changing my mind and 2nd guessing myself. The book had plenty of information for someone like me, who wasn't knowledgeable about skydiving, yet still contained lots of mystery and suspense.
The only thing I felt missing was that there was a lot of build up but it came to a bit of a quick end for my liking.

Ive not read any Amy McCulloch before, but I do have a few of her books on my tbr. The premise of a thriller mainly in the sky was an exciting one.
Verity and Grace are sisters who couldn't be more opposite, Verity is a married author who lives a very safe life, Grace a skydiver who performs death defying stunts.
I enjoyed the first 1/3 of this book, the character development was good, and then it just slowly declined, the story line became far fetched, confusing in parts. HOWEVER I didnt call the ending.

I quite liked this book. Verity is a writer, married to Carl and leading a sensible life. Her sister Grace is the complete opposite. She is an elite skydiver and lives life on the edge. However, when Grace has a seemingly fatal accident while jumping in Spain, Verity eventually decides to go and find out more about her sister's life. Her body was never found and nobody seems to know what really happened. I enjoyed learning more about skydiving but I found the denouement to the story to be rather complicated and a bit far fetched.

McCulloch's books always seem to be incredibly well researched.
I now know that I definitely do not ever want to jump out of a plane. No matter how many instructors there are. She described it all in far too much detail.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as her others.
Possibly a predictable villain and a far too over the top plot.
It was however still very readable.
Just lacking in any tension for me.

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy.

This book was absolutely brilliant and has made me want to go skydiving.

I loved the unique premise and setting and the descriptions in the sky diving scenes were excellent. I felt like it was in the sky with Verity.

There were plenty of twists and red herrings along the way which I really enjoyed and I didn’t catch the culprit which is always a good thing.

I would highly recommend this book and Amy McCulloch’s entire backlist.

Another gripping, twisting thriller by Amy McCulloch.

Set in the world of sky diving, Verity is desperate to discover what happened to her sister Grace after she fell to her death.

Not many authors would learn to sky dive for their art, but Amy McCulloch certainly did. As always, a fantastic thriller, I love everything she writes.

I learned a lot about skydiving reading this book! You can tell it was well researched. However, I found elements of the plot too predictable - I guessed what had happened to Grace very early on.

Also I didn't find any of the characters particularly likeable. It was an ok read, but not as good at Breathless.

Wow. Verity is the new person for me who has a belief and follows it. She works hard but also knows her gut. All believe that Grace is the exciting sister the thrill seeker but this story shows strength with twists and turns. A thriller that ticks boxes. I have loved this opportunity and will seek more books by @AmyMculloch thank you. Thank you Penguin and Tiger tales
