I picked up a copy 'If I Should Lose You' and feel like I might never completely put it down...One of those books that stay with you? Yep, this is it.

I was shocked to find myself reacting viscerally as I fell into this story: hot tears dripping onto the pages and blurring the words, strikes of indignation and outrage, and sprinklings of spontaneous laughter and awe.
My only choice was to let go and allow the emotions to be with me along the journey.

Reading this novel was like experiencing like a wildfire: it started somewhere with a flicker, whipped into a flame, and then from nowhere an explosion; wind, sparks, burning hot and uncontrollable. There as an intoxicating beauty and sadness intricately crafted with intensity, passion, and a vibrance that is simultaneously fully immersive and just out of reach.

From the safety of my reader's chair, I felt like a voyeur in this world, helpless to look away.

The characters are raw and heartachingly familiar in their humanity.
Their journey is a series of sliding doors the readers don't have a choice but to walk though, with MackIntosh mapping out a stunning series of events that stay smouldering long after the flames have died back.
I felt blistered by the unexpected and silent prayers for resolution and soothed by my hope that the last page will not be the end of the story.

Don't wait for this novel to be plucked up by a screenwriter and turned into [what will certainly be] an extraordinary cinematic adaptation--although I can't wait to see the movie, I always recommend reading the book first!

And when you pick up your copy, do yourself a favour and get one for a friend too: you will not want to go through this novel alone. It begs to be read in good company (think 'book club support group').

I will be waiting with bated breath for MackIntosh's follow-up work, because the final page of 'If I Should Lose You' will leave you hanging with that melancholy longing for more.

I finished If I Should Lose You in two days. I was drawn into this emotionally resonant book! We are carried into deep love, profound losses, and the enormously beautiful and challenging complexities of being human. I loved the dialog, pacing, honesty, and depth of the book. I finished it feeling connected with the stories of these characters and a desire for more.

What a beautiful book. The characters are complex and resonant, and the dialogue is quick and real-feeling. It's a deeply human story with the uncertainty and pain that entails, but also humor and creativity and big-heartedness.
