Agent Rory Dennison is every woman’s dream. Tall, dark and Hollywood handsome, the ex-Marine scout sniper maintains a private life none of his teammates suspect. The TEAM is just a job. He intends to keep it that way—until assassins murder the father of the tiny Tibetan girl in his charge. Rory finds himself pulled into a world of mystery and intrigue when he and his companion agent, Ember Davis, are forced to flee with Nima Dawa. Too late he discovers Nima is not only destined to become the next Dalai Lama, but she has an unearthly gift of sight. She can see right through him. And she does. His carefully guarded private life is suddenly at risk. He doesn’t know what to trust or who to believe. The world is too full of shadows. He isn’t the only one with secrets....
Growing up in the countryside of Wisconsin, I always wanted to be a writer. I've dabbled in poetry, short stories, and more daydreaming than most. Way back when, I remember long Sunday afternoon drives with my parents where they'd tell us eight kids to, 'Look out the window and see something!'
I've been looking out the window ever since . . .
In the great Northwest pines, I saw a woman who had nowhere to run find refuge in the arms of a tender warrior seeking his own road to healing. In the hills of Wyoming, I saw a broken man who thought he'd lost everything rediscover the man he was in the eyes of a pretty girl. And in the Dairy State, (yes Wisconsin), I saw two people fall in love and overcome horrific obstacles on their way to happily-ever-after.
Life is short. Pick up a good book. Read. Write. Enjoy. Look out the window and see something!
This is book 6 in the series and it's about our darling Rory, his co worker Ember, and a precious 4 year old little girl that they are going to protect against all odds. Rory is a tender man, a very private person that doesn't allow women to get close to him and his precious secret that only a few people know about. He does what he has to do at work and avoids intimate relationships as much as possible. But this time there will be no way to avoid the most intimate situation he has ever been in. Ember is your techie guru/goth/hot chick who doesn't believe in love and feels that she will just go through life tinkering with her computers, gossiping with mother, and avoiding agent Rory as much as possible. Until a routine security deal turns her easy peasy life on its heels and puts her in direct line of fire from not only gun toting wackos but Agent Rory himself. From the time these two are thrown together until the end of the book, the emotional tug between these two people is slowly brought out in one of the sweetest romances I have read about in a long time. They both have feelings for one another but after years of hurt and pain from one significant other, they don't want any emotion to enter into their personal lives. The areas where they were protecting this precious tiny girl from a security detail broke my heart at times, for I can only imagine what must've been in her mind with all the commotion around her. And to top it all off, to be placed in the situations she finds herself in, made me yell out OMG Ember, save her save her!
The most surprising part of this story for me was the lack of what most writers find themselves over indulging in a book sometimes, the steamy sex scenes. Now don't get me wrong, there are some intimate times but not to the point where it drags out and makes you think the only thing connecting the two characters is sex. In this book the intimate times are tastefully written, the explicit sex scenes were not needed to showcase the romance and the need these two people had for each other.
As always the writing is flawless and the storyline will keep the reader's interest from beginning to end.
I really enjoyed this book and I would say it is my favorite in the series so far, and you get some personal info in snippets from, out alphalicious ALEX.
Thank you so much Irish for the opportunity of reading and reviewing Rory. Review by Tammy
Another winner for Irish Winters! Her books have fast become my very favorite and I hate the fact that I have to wait for the next one when I am done reading the currant one!!Keep them coming!
There are times when I need to go to my comfort zone, and Irish Winters, In the Company of Snipers series, narrated by Troy Duran puts my right back in a happy place. This installment lets us get a glimpse into the life of Rory. In the last book, we left him hurt and I was concerned! Healed and back to work, he takes on a case with Ember to protect Nima, the child who is suspected to be the next Dalai Lama. And the suspense and romance and fear and love begins! Winters takes us on a journey where Nima just steals your heart. This little girl is sweet and beautiful, all what a 4 year old is supposed to be, but carries a wisdom and knowing way beyond her years! Ember and Rory will do anything to keep her safe. But once the mission is over, will their connection remain? Rory has his own life, with his own son. Is there room for the damaged Ember? Get your tissues, and be ready for a roller coaster of emotions. I fell in love with all the characters in this one, from Nima, to Tyler, Rory's son, to Ember and Rory. Add in the cameos from our previous snipers, like Harley, Mark and Alex and the story is like coming home, the reason I just love to listen to these.
Troy Duran is such a talented storyteller and he keeps me coming back for more. He is one of my go to narrators for that listening reset, With his variety of voices and his connection to the characters, it makes the story come alive, like we are experiencing it as it is happening. Loved it, and can't wait for book 7.
Just finished Audio and a box of tissues. Yep. This is a good one but prepared for tears.
Rory didn't socialize with the team. He didn't do out of town assignments. He had his own life out of work. This assignment should have been a one and done. Not. He and Ember, the newest field agent, were assigned to watch over a tiny Tibetan girl and her political father to honor the fallen soldiers in Arlington.
So begins the most dangerous mission of all. Dangerous for the body and heart. Protecting and not falling for the little girls was impossible. Could the agents be together and not fall for each other as well?
There is an army of the enemy out there trying to kill their client. Why? When they get cut off from contact with the rest of the agency they have only each other to depend on. Will they make it out alive with the sweet little girl?
Seriously, be prepared for your emotions to be shredded. Thankfully, Ms. Winters usually puts our hearts back together. It just seems this time it might be too much for even her.
The heroine is the hero’s colleague, and is rarely out of the office. She can defend herself but usually she helps with information. When she was asked to do this assignment, she figured it would be good to get out of the office for a quick assignment which ends up going longer than anyone figured.
Our hero considers work is just work and doesn’t talk about his private life with his colleagues. However, with the new assignment, and partner, things change. The new assignment is one where he doesn’t believe it until things start to happen in front of his eyes and it leaves him stunned.
The plot is an interesting one even though most of it I don’t believe in relation to the assignment. However, the connection our hero and heroine have with the tiny girl is great. I like how they work together in both with the assignment and help each other figure out how to deal with their secrets.
This is the sixth from this series. I wonder where the next book will take us.
This is the sixth book in the amazing Series In The Company of Snipers, a Romantic Suspense. Rory and Ember's story is breathtaking, action packed, and suspenseful. They are both great, smart, and strong characters. The storyline is captivating, filled with mystery, intrigue, and misunderstandings. I love the heartwarming ending. This is a great addition to this Series. Troy Duran did an outstanding job with the narration. He truly has the perfect voice for this series, and this is a great team author/narrator. I love this Series, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Ember is still struggling after the death of a team mate. She is smart beautiful and walks a straight line. She doesn't take much from the guys and can shovel it back just as hard when she receives. This is her first assignment and working with Rory since she discovered his secret. It take reincarnation of the next to show them both the errors of ways and to let love blossom. For this child is special and takes them for a glorious ride. It opens up a new area in their hearts.
This was a re-read for me and glad I did. This story packs a wallop and a lot of information so I learned much. First time through I was excited to "absorb" the next book in this series. This time allowed me to appreciate the romance and love this story contains. Take your time and truly enjoy this tale.
Another stunning book, this one had me in tears and unable to put it down Sad that there are so many agent that died in the book , but alas , all ends happy Thank you to the Author A must read , but personally think it's better to read all the books in order
Ember is the TEAM techy and a top notch sniper on assignment with another TEAM operative Rory to protect an exiled Tibetan Prime Minister and his 4 year old daughter a future Dalai Lama. It was supposed to be a glorified babysitting job while the pair visited the Tomb of the Unknown soldier, but things went horribly wrong and her father was assassinated and now assassins are after the 4 year old and they are on the run.
Memorable, starry eyed, blubbering tears, I'm a fan girl forever memorable. I always love to see growth in an author especially in a series and it's evident here in book 6. If I had 100 stars together that would be my rating for this wonderful book. Tissues are required, I want to start reading you can't stop! One of the best books I've read all year!
I;m not a fast reader but honestly, I couldn't put the book down once I started to read it. It was full of suspense and once again I could tell that the author did her research. Well done Irish Winters.
I just wish that there was someone doing editing. I have to come to a full stop, back up and try to figure out what the author is trying to say. How many times do I have to see (sun like smoking) Kay?
I am so hooked on this series. This is the first one I'm writing something for, book 6. I have been reading one after the other and not wanting to stop. I don't want to do anything but read. I'm going to tell all my friends about these books cos they are all so good.
