The Gallagher Girls are back. But this time, they’ve got baggage.
Sarah Gallagher wants one thing and one thing only—her own happily ever after. Don’t get her wrong, in her almost forty-nine years of life she’s been lucky enough to experience love in many forms, each changing and shaping her into the woman she is today. When unexpected circumstances start to change the relationships in her life, Sarah needs to decide if she’s finally ready to see how in her pursuit of love, she might be the only thing standing in her way.
Lily Gallagher has been busy. Busy chasing her dreams. College gymnastics season? Check. Super hot soccer player girlfriend? Check. Making the Olympic team again? Well, that’s to be determined. But as Lily gets closer to reaching her dreams, life decides to throw her a few curveballs. Will Lily slow down long enough to listen? Or will she take a deep breath, and power through even if it means losing everything?
If Beth Walsh had to pick one word to describe the last few years, it would be growth—something that’s always been a challenge for her to accept. Life has a funny way of pivoting, once again leaving Beth trying to figure out what happiness looks like to her in this lifetime. The only difference? This time, she did the work on herself first. Now the question is, was the work enough?
Second chances, new romances, and unbreakable queer family dynamics come to a head in Baggage—Book 3 of the Soulmate Series.
Cass Morgan is a contemporary sapphic romance author. Her stories embrace the quiet moments of connection, the messy in-betweens, and the kind of love that feels so magical it leaves you forever changed. She’s especially drawn to the emotional nuances that make us human—the doubts, the hopes, and the courage it takes to be truly seen.
When she’s not writing, you can usually find Cass creating in some way, curled up on the couch playing cozy video games or creating elaborate systems in brightly colored Post-it notes around the house. Cass lives in the Chicago area with her wife Alexa.
Growth has no regrets and it does not apologize. You are here, because you were once there.
Book three returns to a possible second chance romance between Sarah and Beth. How could that be, you ask, when both Sarah and Beth are currently in relationships? From the start – that is, within the first 40 pages, the reader is willed into accepting several off the page events. Perhaps you were spared. Perhaps you wanted more. You will choose your position in the end.
Sarah and Beth explore connections through others before returning to address misunderstandings and unresolved feelings. Here is where the reader becomes aware of the true meaning of soulmates: “at the end of the day, a soulmate is someone lucky enough to bear witness to our lives in a way no one else does…” (p. 314). In the Morgan universe, soulmates arrive wearing many faces. They are people who expand us. Romantically, through friendships, and family. A learned opportunity for the reader. A different POV to consider. I love when this happens. Book 3 threads the journey we see both Sarah and Beth go through in previous books. Here is the challenge, I was convinced toward a happily-ever-after especially at the end of book 2. I said, "There it is!"
Morgan, for me, sold the emotional connection between Nell and Sarah more convincingly than either Sarah and Beth or Jamie and Beth. Because of that, I never became deeply invested in Sarah and Beth as an endgame couple. That is not to say that their story wasn’t heartfelt or deserving, I just found it harder to let go of Nell and Sarah. Since the series continues, I’m not sure yet where anything will land. I do love this and it compels me to continue reading the series. But. I have a theory and I love that this series has me thinking.
I found myself wondering if that emotional distance was intentional. My working theory was that perhaps Morgan didn't want readers to become too attached to Jamie and Beth I sat with that. Also, we typically aren’t taken through the relationships that happen before the second chance romance. A risk I admire Cass taking.
Baggage addresses several layered themes that could expand into further development and may very well be addressed as the series continues. I’m not convinced we’ve hit final destinations. Lilly, Sarah and Beth’s daughter, finds herself in a journey of adulthood – love, loss, and hard decisions. Their parent/daughter dynamic is relatable (whether a daughter or mother yourself). Arriving as a family is built on past lessons and future wishes. This is a solid plot weaved throughout the books and Cass does right by it.
Thank you to Cass Morgan for the ARC. I have so many ARCs to read and a couple that come out before Baggage, but with everything that Cass has been posting, I had to read this as soon as I got the email.
Right away, your heart is ripped out. The author is clever with what she did with the prologue and first chapter. This review is going to be vague in order to not spoil anything. Because I do believe that this is best read without knowing anything except the first two books, Balancing Act, and Breadwinner in the Soulmate Series. I was 8% in and already bawling.
Saying Baggage is complicated is an understatement. I had complicated feelings about where the author chose to take this third book. I wasn’t sure I agreed with it. But even though I wasn’t sure I did. I understood it and it was real and messy and complex. It wasn’t until the very end that it all made sense(at least in my opinion) for the choices the author made.
Never in a million years would I have seen things going like this. But Cass Morgan is able to pull off such a raw story of love. And it’s love of all kinds. The whole soulmates aspect of it really comes to light towards the end. There’s something that Jamie says about soulmates and it was a light bulb moment for me. Someone had finally put into words what I felt or had been trying to convey about love & soulmates. God, I love the family that The Gallagher Girls have created.
I don’t think I can emotionally reread this. But what the heck?! Add this to the list of books that made me cry like a baby! 5 stars! First book in a while that I’ve finished in less than a day!
4.5⭐️Trying to write a review with no spoilers is almost impossible, but if you read the preview from the book and followed the author's promotion, you can put two and two together. I am not going to lie, it was hard to read and heartbreaking at times, but less than expected because most of the "stab" happened off-scene, maybe to protect the reader. I just wanted to see more of Jamie, because the charactershad time that I didn't have. I understood with Morgan's previous book that nothing is random; every choice she made was to lead us here. She does not choose conventional and does it very smartly. After three books, falling in love with each story, I wasn't especially rooting for the story to take this direction. But I am impressed because eventually, these characters feel like friends, and all I want is for them to find happiness and Morgan made it satisfying and soothing to read. Morgan takes the reader where she wants with care and originality, love in several forms, through time and generations. The story is rich, with family dynamics, parenting, and two parallel love stories. The story unfolds and keeps the reader engaged. Whether you agree with Morgan's choices or not, this book will not leave you indifferent.
To summarize: messy, complicated, and emotionally challenging. Will I be there for book 4? ABSOLUTELY.

Baggage x Cass Morgan Soulmate Series Book 3 Spice Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Out: 6/12/26
When I say the Soulmate Series lives rent free in my head, I don’t think that even does it justice! I read book 3 in essentially 1 day, because I 👏🏼 COULDN’T 👏🏼 PUT 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼 DOWN! Now with that being said, if you haven’t read Balancing Act and Breadwinner yet — do that first!!! I promise you, it will be worth your time!!!!
Baggage was full of just that, so much unpacking of baggage in such healthy ways! I won’t go into too many details, because spoilers aren’t fun for anyone — but let me just say this: I laughed, I swooned, I sobbed my eyes out, and I would do it all over again happily!
I love the Gallagher girls so dang much! I love reading about mature women having strong open communication, and seeing so much growth throughout. Then there’s the sass queen herself, Lily! What a treat it was to get inside her headspace, and see her grow up learning from such empowered women — you really get to see her make so many positive changes, her growth may have been the most beautiful part!
I’M BEGGING YOU TO READ THIS SERIES, THEN COME TALK TO ME ABOUT IT! 🩷💚💙
Well. This book gutted me, put me back together then gutted me again in the best way. Thank you to the author for an advance review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say read these books in order. The writing keeps getting better (and it was good at the start!) I’ve become so invested in these characters and I am so looking forward to the next book!! That teaser at the end omg. I’m interested to see what the title will be because they have all been spot on so far.
I must applaud the author just for the ambition she put into this series. Most romance series do the tried and true method of coupling up one character at the time, giving them their HEA, while tying everything together with some overarching themes (think the Bright Falls series). Which is fun and cute, but rarely close to the mess real life usually is. Cass Morgan apparently looked at that formula and thought fuck that and decided to make the third book about the ex wives who separately fell in love in books one and two. Spoiler: Oh and for good measure there's also a really tough breakup in this one.
The characters in this series are going through it and it is handled with such emotion and care. It shows that love exists in many forms, besides the romantic HEA kind of love. Be it platonic, familiar or reoccurring, this book deals with them all and does it well.
I only wished Jamie would've been a bit more present in this book. Spoiler for the prologue: I get that she's dead, but I would've loved to read about her funeral and about the more imminent aftermath of her death for the Gallagher's. As it is Beth is already on the tail end of her journey with griefing Jamie. And without that Beth and Jamie's story feels a bit like an interlude in Beth and Sarah's love story.

Somehow this series is so earnest and heartfelt while still being so hot. I particularly love seeing how the carefully negotiated relationship featured in Breadwinner played out in Baggage…something there isn’t always a playbook for, handled so carefully. Telling all my sapphic friends about this series!
Baggage is the third book in the Soulmate Series, and books one (Balancing Act) and two (Breadwinner) should be read before reading Baggage. Please read those before reading this one.
Ugh… crying at the end of the first chapter and trying my damndest not to cry during the second chapter. Throughout the book too. Reading through blurry eyes. Yes you read that right. Ripped my heart out. Emotional damage, possibly.
I’m not going to spoil it. You need to experience this for yourself. Cass Morgan, you pulled this off. The Gallagher Girls are full of love, still as complicated, and learning to still grow. Baggage. Everyone has it. It’s how you sort through it and learn from it.
This book is well written. A tale of life lived, loved, and learned. Cass, you do this so well. I could not put this book down.
I knew it! That is all.
Thank you for the ARC. It was a pleasure even if I didn’t want the possible emotional damage. Honestly after this one, I still can’t wait to see where this all goes. Thank you again.
This 3rd book in the Soulmate Series was something special, special in the good way, it made me feel so much that I will need to take a reading break to recover since my head is spinning from the experience and my body is hurting from all the tension I felt while reading. The first two books were great, and those books must be read and analysed before approaching this book that demands so much more from the reader. This book was so raw, complicated and hard to read, in essence exactly what I personally love the most when reading, to feel I am alive feeling all these feelings.
The teaser chapter for Baggage in Breadwinner has been discussed for months in various chat groups, our beloved Jamie, what is the author doing with us, can this really happen in the next book. So many questions asked and my worst fears came true in the very first chapter of the book. I gasped and did not know what to think, how can the author sell this whole new concept to me. I trusted the author and continued reading and I did of course love the storyline also in Baggage even if it is a book that makes you swear and want to throw away your phone a few times during the read. The MCs are frustrating at times, but they feel like close friends by now in book 3 so you somehow still want them to find happiness even if you hate some of their feelings and actions while reading. You also finally get the message why the author calls this the Soulmate Series, that concept is just perfect.
The title of the book is spot-on, we all have a lot of baggage to work through to be able to get to that good place and the MCs in this series more than most people. We even get two very complicated relationships to follow and that was such a bonus, even more characters to love and hate and struggle with their choices. The teaser that Baggage ended with hinting at the 4th book in the series makes me count the days until I get hold also of that book. Wren’s story was the hardest for me to read in this book, I need the next book very soon. In the meantime, once I find more readers that have read Baggage, I will love to speculate on what is to come. The need to do just that indicates this series is a must read for everyone loving complicated stories.
I received a free ARC from the author and leave an honest review voluntarily.
Firstly, thank you Cass Morgan for including me in your ARC team again, I’m honoured... and have already apologised for the running commentary of unhinged messages while reading!
I went into this book KNOWING it was going to hurt me. To say I was terrified... understatement. I love these characters, all of them. So knowing it was going to start the way it did... I wasn’t ready.
To truly appreciate the gravity of this family, you HAVE to read book 1 (Balancing Act - for Beth’s story) and book 2 (Breadwinner- for Sarah’s story). Without knowing everything they've already worked through, the payoff for Baggage won't hit the same.
Following all three of these ladies, it’s an emotional ride to be sure. Without giving spoilers, I can honestly say, the themes of grief, setting healthy boundaries, and truly knowing yourself and what you want are all expertly done. We can all learn from these lessons, while being carried through on a wave of long-lasting love.
Go into this with an open mind, because... it’s so worth it. This really does show that love, and every form it comes in, is important. And one love doesn’t cancel out another. It makes every relationship meaningful. I loved that the support network Beth, Sarah and Lily have are so fundamental throughout the story, and unwavering in that fact. Old friends and new. They all play a crucial role in their own way.
They’re part of their family, and... Gallagher’s stick together.
Lily is still my favourite character. Her sass, wisdom beyond her years, and her ability to just say what needs to be said is refreshing, fun and oh, so beautiful! Like her mom, she asks all the questions...eventually.
I'm excited to see the woman she’s becoming and how she navigates everything put in front of her... even if she made me cry. Yes, there were ACTUAL tears! Damn it, Cass. I don’t cry at books. Movies, yes. Music, yes... Return home videos. Sure. Not books. Until now.
ARC Review - Baggage is the third (and the best) book in Cass Morgan’s Soulmate series. The writing has tightened up beautifully across the three books and the pacing of how the story unfolds is well done. The transitions between the three POV’s feel effortless and purposeful with Lily’s POV really elevating the story and bridging to Sarah and Beth’s narrative well.
This story carries a bittersweet emotional weight that shapes the entire narrative. Without giving too many spoilers, there are moments that hit hard, blending sadness and joy in a way that lingers. Cass makes some brave, unexpected choices to set the scene, taking the story in directions that feel fresh compared to other second‑chance romances I’ve read.
I’ve loved the Gallagher Girls across all three books, and I’ve been rooting for Sarah and Beth from the start. In Baggage, I fell even more in love with them. Their character growth, emotional honesty, and evolving family dynamics are deeply heartwarming. The story reinforces powerful themes around loving yourself, trusting your decisions, and allowing relationships to evolve in unconventional, healing ways.
I especially appreciated how Sarah gave Beth the space and patience she needed to find her way, and how both women learned to navigate communication with more openness and grace. Lily’s arc adds another tender layer as she grows into herself, experiencing her first love and all the messy, beautiful feelings that come with it.
One line in particular stayed with me:
“If Sarah was fire, Beth was the air that breathed her into existence.” Beautiful…
As with the first two books, the supporting cast adds favour and texture without ever overshadowing the core story. I remain intrigued by Nell, her integration into the family felt natural, warm, and quietly compelling.
Overall, Baggage is emotional, heartwarming, cleansing, and an absolute joy to read. I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you to Cass for the opportunity to read this ARC. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
I received an early copy of this book and chose to share my honest thoughts voluntarily.
I’m going to be careful with this review, because Baggage is one of those books I think you should experience with very little warning. If you’ve read Balancing Act and Breadwinner, that is honestly all I think you need before going in.
This book took the series somewhere I never expected. I started the Soulmate series thinking I understood the emotional direction it was heading in, and then Cass Morgan completely shifted the ground beneath my feet. I’m still sitting with some of the choices made here, but I can’t deny how deeply they affected me.
The story is told through the perspectives of Sarah, Beth, and Lily, and that choice gives the book such a strong emotional pull. It doesn’t just focus on one relationship or one kind of love. It looks at family, grief, growth, responsibility, and the way people keep carrying each other even when life becomes painfully complicated.
I cried very early on. As in, embarrassingly early. Three chapters in and I already knew this book was going to hurt me. But it also made me laugh, made me frustrated, made me pause, and made me appreciate how messy and fragile life can be.
What stayed with me most was Beth’s awareness of how much she has changed, and the way Jamie’s understanding of soulmates reframes so much of the series. Those moments felt quiet, but they carried so much weight.
I don’t know if I could reread this anytime soon because emotionally, I am still recovering. But that says everything. This was raw, honest, and beautifully human.
Cass Morgan really wrote a story about love in all its forms, not just the romantic kind, but the kind that reshapes families, breaks you open, and still somehow leaves room for hope.
The third book in the Soulmate Series, and by now I’ve learned that Morgan’s writing takes risks with romance tropes and narrative direction. After book two especially, I knew better than to assume anything — and I mean that entirely as a compliment. Think you can predict where these characters are heading from the start of book one? Think again.
This narrative follows multiple POVs as the Gallagher Girls navigate first love, grief, and finding connection again. Nothing here follows a linear path to a HEA, and the shifting perspectives are handled brilliantly. I especially loved seeing characters through one another’s eyes and the way the storylines interweave.
This is a difficult book to talk about without spoiling major emotional moments, but it’s been my favourite in the series so far ✨️📚 As the title suggests, the relationships here are layered and complicated, and parts of it really hurt (check content warnings).
But beneath the baggage, there’s growth, vulnerability, and self-awareness. And yes, it’s also sexy as hell with 🔥🌶! The chemistry particularly between Beth and Sarah, who have known each other for years, absolutely worked for me. I’ve had a huge crush on Sarah since she appeared as a side character in book one. Competence is deeply attractive and she deserves the world. I also liked Beth and Lily in the other books, but grew to really appreciate them in this story.
Overall, there’s something beautifully true about a story that can leave me melancholy about some things and delighted by others at the exact same time.
At its heart, this book is about endings, beginnings, and soulmates, in whatever form they happen to take. And it's about falling in love with the same woman again and again ❤️
Let me be upfront about something: I'm gonna try to get through this without spoilers. So bear with me. now.... I have read a lot of series. A lot. And what Cass Morgan is doing with the Soulmate Series is genuinely unlike anything else I have encountered in this genre. Most multi-book series follow a different couple per book, and the previous characters drift into the background: cameos, glimpses, the occasional check-in. That is not what this is. This is a fully ingrained ensemble, where every character continues to grow and shift and develop across every single book, and the result is a level of emotional complexity and relational depth that you simply cannot get any other way. Baggage follows the Gallagher girls, each at a different crossroads. Sarah is almost forty-nine and still fighting her own instincts when it comes to love. Lily is chasing Olympic dreams while life keeps throwing curveballs she does not have time to catch. Beth has done the work on herself: real, hard, unglamorous work, and now has to find out if that was enough. Three women. Three arcs. All of them completely, devastatingly real. I cried. I laughed. I raged. I was completely smitten with the sweetness and then cried again, sometimes within pages of each other. This book runs the full emotional spectrum. You can feel how much Cass poured into this story, into these characters, into this world she has spent three books building with such intention. Watching these characters shift and grow in the way that is uniquely Morgan... It's not tidy, not predictable, and deeply emotional....it is just a completely different reading experience. This is a series with intricacy. I am keeping this deliberately vague because spoilers would genuinely do this book a disservice. What I will say is this: Baggage is the kind of story that stays with you. The kind you carry around for a LONG while after you finish. And that's the power of art and literature.
What a thought provoking novel and end to Beth and Sarah’s story! In my review of Breadwinner, I said that Sarah deserved better and that I wasn’t sure how Beth was going to navigate her grief while falling in love with Sarah again. Ms. Morgan delivered on telling a thoughtful story that delicately wove in grief, friendships, fear, heartbreak, first love (again), and family dynamics. The Gallagher girls love hard and that was the theme through the three novels.
I will say that I needed more time with Sarah and Beth and with Beth in particular. In this second (third? Fourth?) chance story, Sarah’s feelings were easier to understand because in three books, she had never wavered that she was in love with Beth. She continued to show up for Beth, love Beth, and consider Beth. Beth, in the first book, made it very clear that her feelings for Sarah had shifted and that she had been feeling very empty and unheard in their relationship for a long time, if not the whole time. I think I would’ve liked to have seen more of Beth falling back in love with Sarah, of her pouring into Sarah, and of the two of them having the hard convos on paper (perhaps with Beth’s therapist). We get glimpses with how the book is paced, but first book Beth was still a nagging thought in my head. I think another 50 pages or so dedicated to Beth and Sarah after the friendship was re-established would’ve went a long way.
Still, the novel was beautifully written. Sarah remains my favorite character. I am wondering about Liv’s necessity in the book and if we’ll see her in a story later (perhaps with Nell). Lily and Wren’s dynamic was an honest portrayal of young love and young people figuring it out and I am excited for the next book. Overall, it was a good book and I would recommend the series.
Wow. What a beautiful journey Cass Morgan takes the reader on in this book. The first book in this series is amazing. The second book is wonderful and refreshingly different from the first. But this third book is everything. After reading the teaser at the end of book two, I knew Baggage was going to be an emotional read. I prepared myself beforehand. Or at least I thought I did. But I was not prepared for the heartbreak and healing that is Baggage. Cass has created something special with this series. When I opened this book, I felt like I was returning to the home of a friend. All of the Soulmate characters are written so well, and with so much depth, that you form a connection with them. Baggage takes that connection and emotionally challenges you. From the beginning to the very end, you will FEEL all the feelings - the anger, frustration, love, joy, and sadness. I think that’s what makes it great and unforgettable. The way the book is formatted is instrumental in how you experience the story. It really brings you alongside the characters and makes their journey so much more impactful. I love the emotional maturity that is represented in Baggage. From the budding young adult relationship to the mature second chance relationship, and even the relationships that aren’t, the author illustrates the importance of choosing and loving yourself before you can choose and fully love someone else. It is so refreshing to see this portrayed in the context of this family and these characters. With the Soulmate series, Cass has created something special and it is a privilege to be invited along as the Gallagher girls grow and live fully.
So this ARC has been sitting staring at me from my kindle since May 3rd and I’ve been putting it off because I wasn’t ready for the heartbreak. Well let me start by saying, no amount of time could’ve prepared me to be sobbing by chapter 2! Honestly it felt like a hate crime!
Honestly this book tore me to shreds and put me back together again multiple times. Cass has this astounding ability to write characters that feel so authentically raw and with a depth to them that you cannot help but fall in love. Balancing Act had me head over heels for both Beth and Sarah from the get go, Breadwinner solidified that love and Baggage has completely cemented my adoration. These women navigate so much vulnerability and turmoil and do so in such a mature and raw manner, that if you don’t see yourself within these pages, you have some work to do.
This entire book was a love letter to healing, growth and allowing yourself to love again or even for the first time. It’s a book whose characters navigate new chapters with strength and determination, to be better, to show up and to embrace love in all of its forms. And honestly I never wanted it to end.
Baggage will be released June 12th, I’d highly recommend giving the first two books of the series a read before then and prepare yourself for so much love and a lot of tears!
Things to LOVE: 📚Contemporary Romance 📖Soulmate Series Book 3 ❤️First Love 😍 40+ FMCs ❤️🩹Healing / Growth 💕2 Romance Stories 💗Second Chances 🧑🧑🧒Family Dynamics
Thank you Cass Morgan for sending me an ARC of this book! This is the 3rd book in the Soulmates series and it just keeps getting better. Throughout the series, Morgan has portrayed many versions of love in such gorgeous, real ways, and this 3rd book is certainly no exception. The small details used throughout the writing underscore the emotional complexities and nuances in a variety of relationships there are at once messy and heart-achingly beautiful. As another reviewer said- go into this with an open mind! At times I doubted where the story was going, but it was crafted in a really thoughtful way that comes full circle in the end. I enjoyed following along on this journey with the characters we already know and love, while also meeting new characters who are just as charming and make the story that much better. The Gallagher girls and their circle of chosen family feel like people you know in real life. I was picking up this book for more every chance I got- and each time I did felt like coming home. I just wish it was longer! The 3 POVs were executed quite well, but at times there was a LOT happening and some plot points / characters decisions that I wished we could have seen fleshed out a bit more. Ultimately, Baggage is a really lovely continuation of the Soulmates series, filled with stunning relationships, heart-stopping romance, and characters that you’ll hold onto long after you’ve finished reading. I look forward to reading more of Cass Morgan’s work in the future!
The third book in the Soulmates series makes you fall in love even more with the Gallagher family.
OK – here’s what you’ll need to do before starting Baggage. Get a box of tissues, put together some snacks, and make sure you don’t have anywhere to go because once you start you are locked in until you finish.
Each book in this series is special and book 3 fits right in. Usually when I read a series, I find a character I really like and they become my favourite throughout the series. In this first book I really liked Beth, in the second even though it was Sarah’s story it was Jamie, and now in the third book a character I’d never really warmed up to has become my favourite, Sarah. With a special mention to Nate.
What Cass Morgan does so well is craft characters where as I reader I feel like I’m living and breathing with them. I form a relationship with them; I get to know them; I understand them; I feel their feelings; I’ve watched them grow and learn; and I’ve come to love them. Cass has taken me on a ride that has had me laughing, crying, and at times putting the book down because I needed a break from all the feelings.
There are times I won’t watch a TV show until after it has completed, and I’m not just talking about the season, I mean the whole thing, because I don’t want to have to wait to know how it all ends. Well Cass, you got me hooked and there is still more books to come. I want more, I need more, and can’t wait for Book 4 to arrive.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an advanced digital copy to be able to read and review.
Baggage is the third sapphic novel in the Soulmate series by Cass Morgan. Balancing Act (book 1) and Breadwinner (book 2) should be read prior to reading Baggage.
Cass Morgan is an engaging, creative, and gifted author. She allows her readers to peer into the souls of the characters as they evolve and grow. Themes including family dynamics, grief healing, first love, and parenthood are expertly woven into the fabric of Baggage and highlight the well-developed personalities of each of the main characters. Personal connection with them comes easy and we root them on to succeed and cry with them when they struggle. The characters are real, relatable, believable people who draw you into their lives and journeys.
The plot, which flows seamlessly, is full of moments that are bittersweet, intimate, complex, intriguing, and joyous. Difficult situations are handled delicately, with effective resolutions.
After reading the two previous books, Balancing Act and Breadwinner, I immediately wanted to reread each one (and I did!). The same held true for Baggage.
Finally, a thought that resonates with me after reading Baggage: All people whom we’ve been in any form of a relationship with become part of our own personal journey; a part of our baggage, which doesn’t always have to hold negative connotation.
I’m anxiously awaiting the fourth book in the Soulmate series. Thanks, @cassmorganauthor!
"...Because, at the end of the day, a soulmate is someone lucky enough to bear witness to our lives in a way no one else does."
First off, thank you, Cass, for the advanced reader copy—I truly feel honored to be part of this team.
Second… I have no words. Once again, Cass does an incredible job of pulling you in and making you fall completely for each of these characters. The world she’s created is so layered and real, filled with love, growth, and all the emotional baggage these women carry, and it had me cheering, crying, and even cursing at times—basically feeling everything.
The spice level was perfect, balancing beautifully with the deeper emotional journeys. Untangling Lily’s world was especially heartfelt and rewarding, watching her navigate both her dreams and the curveballs life throws at her. And experiencing second-chance love through multiple perspectives had me both giddy and on edge—in the best way.
One of my favorite parts of this book is how it highlights that growth isn’t always linear, and that sometimes the biggest obstacle to love is ourselves. The way these characters confront their pasts and learn to open themselves up again felt so authentic and powerful.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Soulmate series, and this installment was such a strong, emotional continuation. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
There is so much that reading this book made me feel. I was sad, happy, excited, weary, mad, and so many other emotions. This book is a testament to Cass Morgan’s ability to make you feel so many emotions and how connected each book is. I can read about these character forever and I’m so invested in this series and can’t wait for more.
Spoiler below so don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Im so happy that Sarah and Beth made their way back to each other. I love how they both recognized the growth in each other and how throughout all three books you could see how much they still loved one another but just couldn’t quite figure out the step to make it work. I’m so so happy they finally got it this time. Their chemistry is so amazing and you can really feel it when you’re reading these books. I love their love story and Cass if you read this please please consider doing a novella just for them. I need more Sarah and Beth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I will be impatiently waiting for Book 4 and I can’t wait to see more of these character and their journey. It is an honor to be able to immerse ourselves in the world that Cass Morgan has created. And if you’re a reader, please leave a review so that more people get to experience this amazing series!
I only found the Soulmate series in February. It took a quick day and half to read Balancing Act (book one). I immediately fell in love with all the characters. And I didn’t have to wait at all to read Breadwinner (book two).
So when I saw that Cass Morgan was looking for ARC readers for Baggage (book three) signing up was a no brainer.
I dove back into the world of the Gallagher girls so quickly that I didn’t read the content warning, which caused me to have to take a break ten minutes in. After composing myself, I continued to read late into the night.
As a reader in her early 40s, I’ve never related to any characters more than in this book. Baggage was the perfect title choice because we all have it, and like my favorite song from Rent tells us…I’m looking for baggage that goes with mine.
The addition of Lily as a main character adds so much to the story. Everyone can relate to the first love experience, and Morgan captures this well. You can’t help but to think back to your own first love.
I found myself laughing, crying, and blushing at those spicy scenes, which are always written with care and genuineness.
It took me less than a day to read because I had to see what happened to our girls.
🧳This is the 3rd installment of the Soulmate series. Features the return of “The Gallagher Girls” characters, though this time they carry emotional baggage from their past
𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨:
The emotional damage I endured! This book absolutely wrecked me.
Cass Morgan has crafted three interconnected stories that feel so real, so raw, and so deeply human. Sarah, Lily, and Beth’s journeys aren’t about getting everything right, they’re about finally getting real with themselves and what they need. And that’s what makes this absolutely brilliant.
What I loved: 🧳The complexity of these characters. None of them are perfect, and that’s everything
🧳The queer family dynamics that felt authentic and lived-in
🧳How Morgan captures those quiet moments that hit hardest
🧳A story about growth that is just honest
This is the kind of sapphic romance that stays with you. It’s not just about finding love; it’s about becoming the person you need to be to receive it.
If you’ve been sleeping on Cass Morgan, wake up NOW.
10/10 would recommend. Pack your emotional baggage and come along for the ride.

Buckle up and put your adult pants on. Baggage is the third installment in Cass Morgan's soulmate series. You will and obviously should read book one ( Balancing Act) and book two ( Breadwinner) before you read this book. Here we have 3 POVs, giving us the chance to experience Baggage from all the angles.
We start right out the gate with the sucker punch we hoped wasn't coming but maybe had mentally prepared for. Spoiler... you still aren't ready.
The Gallagher women in book three shine so bright. They have worked so hard to get to this point. Through the heartaches and the triumphs they continue to show up for each other in new ways. We have watched them learn to ask for what they want, what they need and what they deserve throughout the other two books. In Baggage we see them put it to work.
Don't worry we still get that spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️from our favorite author Cass Morgan. You know they never disappoint.
The sneak peak of book four will have you checking Cass's socials for a release date. I personally can't wait. I would dare to say the best is yet to come.
Thank you so much to Cass Morgan for the chance to ARC read! 💕
When it was announced the 3rd book from Cass Morgan’s Soulmates Series would be coming out focusing on Sarah,Beth and Lily, I’ll admit I was nervous. The previous two books I had read made me fall in love with Beth and Jamie and then Sarah and Nell. Both couples got their happy endings… what more could I want or need?
I vividly remember reading the teaser at the end of Breadwinner and the family dynamic was one of the things I felt drawn too. How would Cass Morgan top either Balancing Act and Breadwinner?
Being lucky enough to receive an ARC of Baggage( my first ARC ever!!!) was a huge honor in my reading journey and after getting a few pages into it, I knew this book would take me on a rollercoaster of emotions and boy did it ever.
I laughed. I cried. I rooted for Lily. Do yourself a favor and read this book (I mean read the first two books and then come back to this one for peak emotional damage). The growth these characters go through were exceptionally well written and you can help but wanting to root for them all by the end.
I knew I would never be prepared for how devastating this book would be but I needed to be able to read it as soon as possible once information was released. I am beyond grateful to have gotten my hands on an ARC of this book so I didn’t have to wait until June to see what happened!
I was definitely nervous going into this third book not knowing what directions the characters would be taken in and expecting a fair amount of heavy material. Although I may selfishly not love all of the choices, every decision felt very authentic to the story and the characters and provided the necessary space for growth.
Definitely not a light and fluffy two people meet, fall in love, and end up happy together kind of romance we are used to. But Cass Morgan knows how to create complex characters and provide them the space to make mistakes, change, and grow. The love stories in the Soulmates universe are raw and authentic and I can’t wait to see how hard the next books stomp on my heart and then put it back together again😭
It’s an honor to receive an advance copy of Baggage prior to its release in June!
Baggage is the 3rd book in the Soulmate series by Cass Morgan. I read Balancing Act (#1) last October and have been excited to follow the characters along with Breadwinner (#2), and now Baggage. Baggage should be read only after reading the first two in the Soulmate series for the best experience.
“We all come with baggage. Isn’t the whole point to find someone whose baggage goes with yours?”
I stayed up late to finish this and it was beautiful. As with the first two books, Cass Morgan explores romantic relationships, friendships, and family in a very tender way.
Each and every single character is a fully fledged individual, but also someone who is a part of something greater. The Gallagher girls are messy, vulnerable, and open to experiencing love and life fully. The characters exhibit so much growth from Breadwinner, while still having realistic struggles as they all navigate the different baggage they have. What a beautiful thing it is to love, live, and learn.
