The Skinwalker is deeply embedded in the Native American lore of the peoples indigenous to the Four Corners of the American Southwest. Though contemporary archaeologists and anthropologists have uncovered significant evidence of its presence in the art of the ancient peoples which inhabited the Great Basin and surrounding lands prior to the tribes which were to follow, there is no explanation for its origin—beyond an alternate plane or spirit world—or its eventual, and temporary, disappearance. Regardless, history documents that the Skinwalker was again drawn forth by the Shaman of the Navajo to avenge the cruelty of their enemy, the Ute. To this day, the Skinwalker remains among us, haunting a corridor among the hills and canyons known as the Path of the Skinwalker. Here in these pages is a collection of actual modern Skinwalker encounters told by those who came face to face with this frightening and supernatural being.
Ryan Skinner has been featured on several nationally recognized television programs. In 2012 he was featured as a “Skinwalker Ranch Expert” on the Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory which aired December 3rd on TrueTv. In 2013 he helped produce and was also the featured “Skinwalker Guide” for the Joe Rogan Questions Everything show which was televised August 21st, on the SyFy Channel. He has also headlined various radio shows, and podcasts. As a producer, entertainer, and now author; Ryan Skinner hopes to continue his search for answers for many years to come, and invites you to watch him on his paranormal journeys.
The book is about skinwalkers in general and not necessarily those just on Skinwalker Ranch.
The term itself refers to a spirit/entity from another place/alternate dimension that a person can use in a positive manner or in a negative manner. The book goes into problems between the Utes and the Navajos and the rise of the skinwalkers in the area of Skinwalker Ranch and other places.
The book discusses cadaver dust, the use of eye contact, mind control, the failure of normal weapons to hurt a skinwalker and various other related topics.
Some of the stories in the book have skinwalkers in a trickster mode where no one is actually physically hurt and other cases that involve physical and/or emotional/mental damage to someone as a result of skinwalker action.
When you read the actual number of cases of things happening and knowing that this book does not have every single case then it becomes fairly obvious that there is something real that is taking place . A very interesting book.
As a follower of the paranormal but Skinwalker Ranch in particular, I am deeply impressed with the variety of stories here. As for the Nordic pagan, Um, no Nordic pagan I know avoids wearing black nor are they conservative as a bunch. Also, IF you have NOT gotten any twangs on your spiritual guitar before that event, then it might be time to give it up. As a pagan minister and Walker between the worlds, Finding out there is more to our world should be part of the pagan experience, if not, then stop. Ryan, would love to see a book of more Skinwalker stories involving Non-First Nations.
I ripped through the pages as fast as I could read these True Stories, as told by the Those Who Know. Excellent editing, grammar, spelling, etc. A Magnificent Book!
Ryan Skinner's book is a collection of modern day Navaho's stories of encounters with shape changing sorcerers which in their lore are the result of an ancient curse. The stories are quite scary with a ring of truth.
A set of frightening tales of Skinwalker encounters. Also includes information about Native American lore and Skinwalker lore. The stories run from strange to frightening. I really enjoyed how an aspect of the Skinwalker was described as it related to the accompanying story. Great book!
Very good book, Oddly laid out but it seems to work (second half of the book). Great info, real interesting. If you're a Skinwalker Ranch fan, you'll like this.
This has to be my favorite Skinwalker book written by Skinner so far. If there's one thing I really enjoy and engage with it when it comes to the paranormal, it's hearing the stories and experiences of the people. This is exactly what this book is. Each section is prefaced with information related to Skinwalkers, primarily their relevance and importance to the Navajo culture. I feel like this book also provides more respect to the Navajo people and their experiences than previous books in the series.
