Return of the Runebound Professor #10

Return of the Runebound Professor 10

Rate this book
Noah has made it to Obsidia.

His soul empowered by Hollow Symphony, an incredibly powerful Master Rune from the Night’s Shadow itself, he’s finally clawed his way back into the lands of the mortals.

Noah is more powerful than he’s ever been before. But, even with Father dead, his troubles don’t seem to be getting any smaller. Everyone he cares about has been scattered all across Obsidia. Finding them would have been completely impossible if Lee hadn’t found him, bringing vital information with her.

For whatever reason, the Apostle’s disciples had registered everyone for a tournament happening in Aqua Terra — the home city of the Prophet of Renewal. An incredibly powerful Rank 8 woman who Noah isn’t exactly on the best terms with.

And the Prophet is far from Noah’s only issue.

Orlen and his Truthseekers are still hunting all of them, and they only seem to be getting bolder. The tournament he’s heading toward will also be gathering pretty much every dangerous mage in the empire into one spot. It’s the worst spot to try and pull anything ridiculous. But Noah’s escaped the Beyond. He’s escaped the Lost Citadel.

And if he has to tear the whole of Obsidia apart to get his students back safe and sound… then that’s exactly what he’ll do.

Actus has been writing fantasy stories since the age of twelve, and he's been telling them since he could talk. He's currently working on three main series - Morcster Chef, Steamforged Sorcery, and My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror. You can find his works on RoyalRoad & Patreon as well as on Amazon.

In addition to his passion for writing, Actus is capable of clearing a two story building with a single jump. That isn't true, but writing about himself in third person gives Actus delusions of grandeur.

Fantastic.

This is one of my favorite series, but the cliff hanger at the end of this book should be criminal.

Noah is a fantastic and complicated leading character!

Picking up a book by Actus is a no-brainer! For me 'cause Actus is absolutely Golden! Every book I've read has been perfect! As the Return of the Runebound Professor! It's the Best! Book! Evarrr! The Best! Series! Evarrr! And Noah and Lee has finally arrived for the Heavens Path Tournament! It's no secret that I love Tournaments and Noah plans to find all his friends and students by winning Brilliantly, so much so that they'll all recognize him. But can he do that since he's only rank 5? As Noah is just 2 perfect runes shy from tier 6, could he actually rank up a level before the Tournament ends???

Here's a couple of quotes:

“What kind of rune do you need?” “A Fart Rune,” Noah replied with a wide grin."

“Noah, I love you in all the ways that a man can love another man that stole the body of his irredeemable brother and used it to fix his reputation, help his former students, and murder our oppressive father. But I don’t think you would understand this.”

Barely 3 stars

This barely qualifies as 3 stars for me. Not because it necessarily bad, but because nothing of import happens.

It is 95% dialogue, but with minimal being said. And idk if it is just how this genre goes, or an unwritten rule, but it seems all books start becoming a slog to read around book 10.

With a story expecting to take MANY years, they decide to start having each book cover a couple weeks.

I would highly suggest waiting until the next book releases before you read this one or you will feel like nothing happened.

Reads really fast, perhaps Kindle pages are shorter than regular book pages?

Actus definitely knows how to write and I only wish there were more story to it. Reading about the same event seen from the perspectives of multiple people, most of which do not contribute to the plot, makes this book feel like a filler of sorts.
By now there are so many characters in the mix for perspective to bounce between I'm not sure I'll stay with the series for long if it continues like that.

INSULTING

This book was so much filler the author had to use two characters to info dump and make you want to read the next one. It’s even more insulting as the last book was also a lot of FAT NOTHING. Stop wasting our time! Such a money grab.

Good

Honestly, this book feels a bit too much like filler, but the series is great as is the writing.
You wouldn't miss much if you skipped it, but I still enjoyed the read. Character requirements for reviews are terrible for review quality.

the ending had me screaming Nooooo

Excellent continuation of the story. Would have loved if it had gone further but it was a good place to stop.

Now we have to wait….

Continues to impress

This series has been perhaps the most absolutely addicting I've ever managed to entangle myself in. Hope it goes for ten more books!

One of my favorite series by the author, this book continuing the success of precious books. Impressive that after 10 books there is still solid progress within story and hasn’t felt like many of the books in the series have been filler (looking at you path of ascension).

Another Excellent Book!

Well done! Another great installment. We get some good Spider time and more strings being pulled in the background. Very fun!
