If you're on book 11 you know what it's about, and it lives up to all expectations. As always, I wish it was 3x as long so I could live in the world a little more. Magic system and soulcrafting remains so flexible and fun to visualize and model. I have so much fun imagining alternate versions of Theo's plans centered around electromagnetism or nuclear forces. Fiyu and Nauda are obviously still both great. The growth of the whole group into what I would honestly call a family is really apparent (and well done) in this book.
(minor spoilers: Homez my goat, I am cheering on your endeavors.)
Above average addition to the series, ties up a long running relationship nicely. I feel like the final fight could've had a bit more of an aftermath exploring theo's character but that's just an opinion. Ate it up like chocolate as always, well done Sarah!
Eleven books in, and Sarah has managed to still keep escalating power levels to non-OP levels, while focusing even more on relationships and how events affect all. An excellent addition to the series, and I truly love her progression scale.
I enjoyed this book, but I have also historically enjoyed this magic system. I do not think that this book stands out to me much within the series. It honestly seems like a natural progression of the last book without anything centrally interesting. In particular,
Enjoyable as always, this volume isn’t yet tagged as part of the series?
If I was to nitpick though
Feels like we missed a 5 chapter block where the mid war soul crafting on noven was worth it for the grand strategy of the war? Like yeah the dark blade scene happened and that’s cathartic but it’s kinda side show for the main setting of the book
We kinda jumped from “out manned out gunned all our allies are crumbling even the golden wastes and we’re taking a week off to returning and everything just worked out and you cleaned up the arena and dark blade repeating Theo’s fate without addressing how the balance of power flipped. Uhhh house of lost and demonstalkers attacked being info provided to Theo after the fact with no way to feel the shift in battle lines and priorities and the enemy crumble felt disjointed and unrewarding

A real shame this series. It started off fresh and interesting, an entirely new take on the cultivation story. This latest book is a mild nod to that beginning, followed by dull and convoluted politics and a litany of side characters who probably matter to the politics, but… this is a bait and switch. I started reading about Theo and soul crafting, this latest instalment is weak fantasy with an irrelevant mechanic.
These characters continuously develop more each book. Throughout this series, each character finds themselves on a new arc in their lives that makes them feel more real. Most action stories handle romance and deep friendship as an aside to the action, but the Weirkey Chronicles constantly treats interpersonal relationships and fights as equally important. I will definitely continue reading this series with the next book.
Thank you for another exciting book in this series
Was definitely worth the wait. Somenstrange new characters and the soulhome is still one of the best new ways of cultivation I've read so far fantastic. Love the main character Theo and the names of the other characters Nuada and others. Thanks so much Sarah Lin.
This book does a great job of expanding the characters and world of the series. The plot and world building are tied together very well and the competition between the plot and character for time is integrated into the story. There's no need to say more.
As always, the short wait for the next book to come out is already feeling far too long. This was another great book in the series, the world building always feels so great in these.
This was an excellent example of the series! So much soul crafting, all the many contacts and friends showing up. Some epic battles and great character moments on all sides.
Love the series and can only hope Sarah Lin continues to write more in this world. The soulhome concept is fantastic. Happy to hear she's already posting chapters of book 12 on her Patreon
