Technically Legal: 38 Unethical But Legal Ways to Make Money That Nobody Talks About by Rheobase Chukka—there was no way I wasn’t going to read this book. Curiosity alone would have had me opening it. Thirty-eight supposedly legal loopholes? What are people taking advantage of that I don’t even know about?
I’m not going to lie: some of these were a hard no for me. No judgment, but I just couldn’t. Others had me thinking about opportunities I would never have considered. Some involve considerably more effort than others, while a few seem surprisingly straightforward.
What I found most interesting was how the book made me think about who benefits from knowing how to work within the rules. We hear about wealthy people taking advantage of tax breaks and favorable contract terms all the time. It’s understandable that everyday, hardworking people would want to know what opportunities might be available to them, too.
Whether or not I would pursue these ideas, this book certainly gave me plenty to think about. Kudos to Rheobase Chukka for doing the research and bringing these lesser-discussed possibilities to readers’ attention. My curiosity was satisfied, and my personal boundaries remain firmly intact!
Thank you to Rheobase Chukka, Nouvelle Creations Limited, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher/author for the ebook copy in exchange for a review.
Admittedly I got this book out of sheer curiosity. It’s a fairly quick read. Honestly, a lot of these ideas made me deeply uncomfortable. Some of them require some amount of wealth to pull off. Some of them probably would be best for people who have a good lawyer already on retainer.
My rating is based more on book organization, explanation and sources - all which were well done.
