That was a lot of drama!
It took a few chapters for me to get into it at first. The ending wasn't what I expected and I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought some things would work themselves out but I guess some of these novels have us feeling that these things should work out when in real life people do move on.
I don't feel sympathy for Jalissa.
****spoilers****
I get that her BF and her boyfriend betrayed her but she turned around and did the exact same thing to her husband...stepped out and got pregnant. She wasn't a victim. She was lying and sneaking around on her husband before she even suspected anything. She's just as guilty as he was yet had the nerve to act otherwise. She even said that she did nothing wrong, was a good wife and Julian ruined it all on his own. Even if Jay wasn't his or J & A never hooked up again, Jalissa would still be pregnant by another man by her own actions. At least Clarence waited til his marriage was over to start something new. Also, how was she able to keep him from picking up his son without a court order? Then she moves her son in with this man? Just cuz he sucks you the way yo like doesn't mean you should have your child move in with him. She really should have gone to a hotel.
Aaliyah was a dirty friend. I overlooked her transgression from before J &J were a couple (though she should have told her they hooked up), but what they did years later was inexcusable. Poor Clarence! Always falling for the girl who was in love with someone else. Ashley was an idiot. If that woman is your competition you don't rat her husband out, you rat her out to the husband so that he has the upper hand. She'll stay at home more cuz she'll feel guilty or she may stop seeing the other guy all together. She kinda sucks at this master planning thing, lol. Elijah should have been kicking Jalissa to the curb for all of those times she tried to play him in college. If not for that, she started cheating and nothing was wrong in her marriage, at least nothing she knew at the time. That should give him pause. She was happy with her life, or so she said, and still cheated on her husband.
I kinda wanna read more about Aaliyah and Nick. Does she finally love herself? Is she a better friend, not necessarily to Jalissa (since that friendship is probably over) but in general. Does she stop using her body to get stuff and screw up her life. How did celibacy work out for them?
