One Week Girlfriend #4.5

Five Days Until You

Rate this book
Unsure. That's how I'm feeling about my entire life. Just when everything's good and I have it all under control, my girl Chelsea decides she's going to leave me for the summer. Despite my disappointment, I have to support her. It's what she wants, an opportunity she can't say no to and no way will I be the one to stop her. I love her too much to hold her back.

Opportunities are happening for me too, though. A big one that my brother-in-law Drew says I can't pass up. I'm working extra hard. So is Chelsea. It's like we don't have any time to get together. We keep making the same promise--only five more days until we see each other again. But we keep breaking that promise. Is our relationship strong enough to survive all of these changes?

This series is one of my most favourite ever. I adore each book and every character that I have met along the way and as soon as I discovered that Monica Murphy had sneakily released a new novella to the series, I couldn't wait to get the chance to be reunited with the "One Week Girlfriend" gang.

This instalment is mainly focused on Owen and Chelsea as they continued to make their relationship work whilst dealing with the problems that were put in their way, problems that were caused by both Owen and Chelsea's career plans. After the couple made the decision to be apart for the summer, they had to overcome all of the complications that were caused from having a long distance relationship.
Now that the girl I've always wanted by my side is about to stand on her own two feet and do something that belongs only to her, I wonder where exactly I fit into her new world. And if she would still need me when it was all said and done.

I loved this next chapter in Owen and Chelsea's story. It was a really sweet novella that not only featured the couple but I was also given a few glimpses into what was happening between Drew and Fable. I really do love these characters, so to be given the chance to take a peak into their lives again was like catching up with old friends. If you are a fan of this series, you will not be disappointed.
I'm so fucking thankful to have you in my life. No matter what happens, as long as I have you by my side, I know everything's going to be all right.

As well as Owen and Chelsea's story, this book also contained the Christmas story that involved Drew, Fable, Owen and Chelsea. I have actually read this short story before, however I couldn't turn down the opportunity of a re-read! If you haven't yet read this one, you are going to love it. Whilst catching up with most of the characters from this series, I was reminded of how much I enjoyed Jen and Colin's story in "Three Broken Promises" and I am now wandering what has happened to this couple. So Monica Murphy, I would love it if you wrote another story involving Jen and Colin. Even if it's a short bonus addition or a novella. I just want to check and see that they are doing okay! lol.

"Five Days Until You" was a beautiful addition to a fantastic series and gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me!

Last book in this series, can't believe I finally finished it. I really enjoyed the whole series, both couples had freaking cute stories with a lot of hurdles and broken pasts but they all came together in the most perfect ways. I loved all of the characters, well not all all but almost.
I really enjoyed getting to know and read about Owen and Lucy, they were perfect for each other and their journey was a really cute one to read. I'm gonna miss these characters.

I liked seeing more of Owen and Chelsea. There were some difficulties in their relationship were they had to deal with. It wasn't always as easy, but they managed to get through.

I also liked the Christmas story at the end of the novella. Some more scenes out of Drew and Fable's POV. And a happy ever after for all of them.

Enjoyed reading

I'm so glad that Chelsea and Owen got another book. With the way their first book ended, I had felt like their story wasn't over. Chelsea and Owen are great together and Chelsea is definitely good for Owen. They have great chemistry and I really liked the bonus book at the end because it also included Drew and Fable.

Fans of the One Week Girlfriend series will love this one! We see Owen and Chelsea together (which will be forever and ever), and the continuation of their HEA, which is near perfect. Owen is so over the moon for Chelsea, who he constantly calls "my girl" in his head. Chelsea loves the stability and passion Owen gives her.
Owen is one passionate guy when it comes to his Chelsea, and quite the dirty talker who can't keep his hands off of her. He's also a big snuggler!

Their relationship is tested when she's given a great opportunity to complete her graduate program (she has post-poned) for 2 months at an out of state college. But the downside is being hours away from Owen. He let's Chelsea go, but promises to visit her every weekend. But when he's given his own opportunity of a lifetime, to possibly get his shot at the NFL, he has to work hard and stay put. This puts a strain on their relationship and they both worry that because of the distance, it may break them apart. Owen is very concerned about losing Chelsea, while Chelsea ponders about a future where she focuses solely on her career and let's Own go to live out his own dreams.

Some may say this is more of a filler book, but it really hits the sweet spot. I wish it was longer because Monica has such a way of creating a better HEA on top of the original HEA for this couple. Also there is another short story after Five Days Until You ends that takes place at Christmas. We get more Drew and Fable marshmallow love goodness, including the next chapter for Owen and Chelsea that will bring many smiles.

Five Days Until You has very little angst and drama, but it's still grabs you hard as you read. You won't be bored.

If Fable and Drew have marshmallow love, Owen and Chelsea have a cotton candy one. Mega uber-sweeteness on these pages.

I kinda forgot about Owen and Chelsea's story. The only thing I remember was Owen is Fable's brother. I thought I'll have to reread Four Years Later first to get into this book. Fortunately I didn't have to do it, as it was just easy to be in Owen and Chelsea's world again. And I eventually remember their stories before.

I think their relationship is still sweet and they are cute together. I still liked them.

However I didn't quite like the way they keep moping around each other because they have to part for two months when they are missing each other all the time. I get that they are madly in love, head over heel and all that jazz, but hearing they tell they miss each other over and over was kinda annoying. They are just too clingy for my taste. Maybe I won't be that bother if they part because they cannot help it, but here they choose it in order to get what they want. So they supposed to know right away that they being a part are the consequences of their choice, in my opinion.

Anyway, it's still a nice reading, though. And now I'm curious of Shep and Tristan Prescott and also Owen's best friend, Wade, I wonder when he'll have his own book, as too my surprise Prescott boys already had theirs.

Oh, the drama! For a short one this one was filled with lots of drama. Both Owen and Chelsea were at a cross-roads in their lives, one in which their futures would change. That choice would also affect the future of them as a couple. I knew the separation wouldn't go as they planned, that being away would cause problems, so that wasn't a surprise. I was glad to see that they worked things out, better was they worked things out in a way that made them happy on all levels.

It's a short insight into how Owen and Chelsea are doing, how their relationship has evolved and if it will withstand the test of time.
I enjoyed it, but I would've loved for it to be longer.
This novella should be read before jumping into Monica's new series - Shepard and Tristan are introduced here.

So... I definitely wasted my time reading this novella. I apologise if I sound too harsh but it's time wasted reading it... There were a lot of push and pulling and when I reached the end of this novella, it was as if nothing much changed – Chelsea and Owen are still madly enough. I get that Murphy might be trying to tell her readers couples do go through ups and downs, but she could have incorporated it into Four Years Later and end it there and then.

Although the Christmas special at the end of the novella was cute to read, I think I was so ready to say goodbye to Fable, Drew, Owen and Chelsea, I did not quite enjoy that as well...

An advice from me, just stick to the main four books and forget the novellas. Unless you absolutely love the One Week Girlfriend series otherwise, you really do not need to read the novellas in this series.

Owen and Chelsea are in love and have been planning their future. When Chelsea is given an opportunity working on a special project at a college four hours away she must decided what she wants to do with her future. What will her decision mean for her and Owen? Owen also gets an opportunity to focus on his future but it also means less time with Chelsea. Could this time apart be good for their individual growth or will it be their downfall? These opportunities also make Owen and Chelsea examine what exactly they want for their future. Who do they want to be and what path do they want their future to take?

First and foremost, I have read all of these intertwined books of Monica Murphy's all mixed up. Now, I've had to go back and reread a few. Secondly, I skipped Three Broken Promises. That one was definitely not a necessary read. Anything about Drew, Fable, and Owen, I got in Four Years Later, and this one. Colin and Jen really aren't important in the Callahan and Maguire Universe. I loved reading Owen and Chelsea's story. Especially since I had already read about 2 of their kids in The Players series. I went back and reread Knox and Blair's stories. Actually, I never did get any more info on Owen's bff Wade, who Knox is named after. Hmmmm. Well, loved this one!!

Owen and Chelsea are spending their first summer apart in three years. They are worried they are heading in different directions. Chelsea thinks she might want to stay and start Graduate school earlier than planned. Owen is so busy with football he barely has time for anything. They originally planned to see each other every weekend, but their busy schedules prevent their plans. This book was a sweet addition to the One Week Girlfriend series. I'm glad I have now read all the novels and novellas.

Wonderful!

The conclusion of the Weekend Girlfriend Series what a great wrap up. Chelsea and Owen story finish up with their insecurities with each other and themselves with the time apart.

Chelsea's character growth is more so in this book then in the other. She's finally figuring out what she wants and going to get it.

At the end is a short Christmas Novella that was originally posted to Monica's web page. It tied up Owen's story and Fable's as well.

My Thoughts: This book takes place after 4 years later. Owen and Chelsea are going strong. Once in a lifetime opportunities arise that put a slight strain on their relationship. Owen gets the chance to take his football career to a professional level and Chelsea gets transferred to a dorm to take her education to the next step. They're both afraid of what's to come, but together they pull through. Their relationship matures and grows for the better. I enjoyed reading Owen and Chelsea's story.

Lettura comunque molto scorrevole e piacevole

The conclusion to Owen and Chelsea's story. Long distance relationships are hard, especially when you're young. This is a test for them. Loved the little bonus Christmas story with Drew and Fable as well!

I always felt like their story was a little unfinished, but I'm not sure if this is the way I wanted it to end? Extended epilogues are tricky because you need to find the right balance with romance moments and wrapping up any loose storylines. Here, because it is 11 chapters long, I think I want a little more substantial development. I thought there were too many sex scenes to the ratio of the plot. The last 2 chapters were great since that's when we got some drama and development but otherwise, I lost interest about halfway through.
