This book was pretty good, but falls short of great.
The MC is a man from Earth that dies while playing some RTS (Real Time Strategy) style game. Upon death, he's visited by the god Loki, who offers him a chance go to Valhalla and participate in the "Game" that helps train leaders. Upon arriving, he's given a token to redeem for a slave to help fight with him, and he uses it to rescue a cat beastkin woman that is about to be purchased by some sleazy guy. Said sleazy guy is the ultimate protagonist for this and probably at least one more book. Now the MC has to enter battles against other's, and the first fight is to the death.
The cat beastkin becomes the first LI, especially after he gives her a class upgrade and she can read his thoughts. So she knows he's attracted to her but doesn't want to take advantage of a woman enslaved against her will. The second LI is added later in the book, and takes little time to join the bedroom time. The relationship with the second woman is fairly underdeveloped, while the first is greatly assisted by her mind/emotion reading ability.
The overall plot is fairly generic, as it just has the MC entering battles as Loki's Champion against other "heroes". So it's just him coming up with some creative strategy to win, without much in the way of detail.
I might read a sequel, but it won't be rising fast to the top of my TBR pile.
This is a fine fantasy harem adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the demon woman. I anxiously await the author's next novel.
