Lightbringer is the second book in this series, and unsurprisingly, it's very similar to several other books I've read in the genre. Main character manages to survive the tutorial, comes back to earth, is rated top of the heap, has to fight with locals to "explain" that the old structures aren't valid anymore, (somewhat) manages to get enough to understand that he can go help others, then gets drawn in all over again in the new location. Regardless of the "it's been done before" vibe given off by this one, it's not really a bad story, but for me, it's missing something vital that makes it a story that grabs me and doesn't let go. It's still worth reading, but it just isn't the kind of story that makes me want to jump for the sequel as soon as it's available. I'll likely read more in this series when they become available, but it will likely be from a reminder of seeing the series, or a pop-up saying next book in series, rather than my keeping an eye out for it like I do for some series I follow.
But, don't let my lackluster enjoyment prevent you from enjoying the story, if you liked the first one, this one isn't likely to disappoint.
