I have been a lifelong writer and storyteller. Salem, Oregon is where I spent my formative years and I graduated from Willamette University. After college, I spent a decade living in Portland, Oregon where I worked in advertising, game design, and technology.

I've written young adult and children's books for Scholastic, Little Brown Books For Young Readers and Katherine Tegen Books/ HarperCollins Publishers.

I've been fortunate enough to have had some bestselling series work: The Land of Elyon, Atherton, Elliot’s Park, 39 Clues, and Skeleton Creek. Here's a fun note...the books have been translated into approximately two dozen languages. Currently I'm developing a few new-media projects. Check out DARK EDEN to experience this type of cross-platform project.

When I'm not writing or creating a story, I spend my free time supporting literacy campaigns and community organizations, fly fishing, playing basketball and tennis, doing crosswords, watching movies, dabbling in video games, reading (lots), and (more than anything else) spending time with my wife and two daughters.

¿Holaaaaaaaaaa?

This book only existed in one format at my public library: on CDs! It took me forever to listen to it in the car. The biggest thing I took away from this book was that I'm not an audio book reader / listener. I finally started listening with a pen and paper nearby, so I could take notes. This will be the vaguest of all the reviews I write, because nothing in the audio book really "stuck."

The two teams head to Aqua Gen (I have no idea if this is spelled correctly, because I listened, I didn't read it) and Dash's team heads down to the surface, leaving Piper (who doesn't swim well) to run the analysis on where to find the element, pollen slither. It comes from the ocean floor, and rises to the surface.

It starts with Dash's log entry, saying he's left a crew member behind. An ominous start. But then the book skips back in time to the start of the mission, so you're reading to find out which member does he have to leave behind?

Right off the bat, Dash and Carly and Gabriel try to use the water skis, jet skis, essentially to find a pollen slither slick, and they're knocked off by the planet's biggest predator, Predator Z. The other team, Team Omega, leads the planet's pirates right to the kids, who take them hostage while Ana and her team seek out the source of the pollen slither.

The pirates are then attacked by another form of predator, I forget which, and other pirates attack those pirates, and Dash's team's new ally, the first pirate leader, manages to keep them safe. Dash finally gets a hold of STEAM, the little robot, to bring the ship down close and they're let free to find the source of the pollen slither. Notably, the pirate captain gives him a ring of processed pollen slither, a token of their alliance.

In the meantime, Piper's been unable to reach them, so when she finally figures out where the pollen slither's coming from, she conquers her fears and hops into the submarine to descend to the bottom of the ocean to mine it. But Team Omega gets there first, and the second set of pirates, the ones who attacked Dash and his team on the surface, are prowling underwater, as well.

I won't ruin how it ends. I loved the non-linear storytelling. I just wish there were new editions, so my library could purchase a new (non-audio) copy.

I thought that it was a good book, but it was kind of predictable that piper was going to survive. Also they could have just killed piper to add drama. Also sometimes I felt that dash was out of character, but dash has to be my favorite character in this book because he became even more heroic than he already was. Also I could sympathize with piper when she was worried for the others, because I also told my friends to meet me somewhere at like 3:30 at a fair, but when I got there they weren’t there so I just guessed that they had gotten lost and I felt worried for them, but then they made it.

Not a bad book, I just feel like the descriptions of past books wasn't here for this one. All of the "action" moments just fell flat for me. I found myself not being able to visualize everything, and the drama wasn't there for this one. Book 1 was the best so far, and how they're going in book 2 and 3 I'm not sure if the next book is this same level that I'll keep reading..... I'm willing to give it one more, but it's not really keeping the same level as book 1 so I'm losing interest fast.

171 pages. Another exciting adventure for the Alpha and Omega crews. This time they are headed for a mostly water-covered planet called Aqua Glen. There are pirates and aliens to mix it up and many challenges for the crews. It was a little bit less interesting than the first two volumes but if you are into this series it will be alright. Keep reading. Lots of twists and turns. Recommended for Grades 4-5.

I like this book because it has point of views from each characters. It is good book for 8-9 ages I like the book at age 9 but now it is boring. It is like fantasy books but it may be real. Will the right team get it or will the wrong team get it find out in Omega Rising. Read the books in order or it dose not make much sense.

My name is Carly. Our Alpha team must now travel to a planet that is totally covered in water, as we search for the next element in an energy source that will save Earth. The planet has huge monsters roaming the ocean, and there are pirates searching for victims on its surface. We've been instructed to avoid all life forms, but that's easier said than done. We're immediately terrorized by a sixty-foot raptor and then ravaged by creatures that can eat through metal! We just want to stay alive! Now, Aqua Gens have hidden us aboard their ship, and we've lost our watercrafts and supplies. I have no idea how we'll find the element... or how we'll get off the planet and find our way home.

You need to read the previous books in the series, especially the first one. All of the books are fast-paced, full of action, and will quickly grab your interest. An interesting aspect of this series is the creation of the Omega crew. These teens were not chosen for the mission but were secretly joined to compete with the Alpha crew. However as the series goes on, each crew is trying to get the elements first, but it's obvious the two crews need each other to survive. The Omega ship is especially interesting. The crew has problems with the leadership, the ship is not well-constructed, and a "time bomb" is locked away deep inside the ship. It seems to be a matter of time before disaster strikes this crew. Readers can visit a website with activities and games to go along with the book. I really recommend you give this series a shot.

First off... No STEAM 6000 quote in the beginning? Wasn't impressed by this... I really liked the two quotes from the first two books. Not only that, "The AquaGens have lived in peace for thousands of years. Until now..." isn't true.

This book didn't live up to what I was hoping for from the first two. Team Alpha is onto planet #3, Aqua Gen: A planet of water. With danger lying in these strange tides, they must retrieve the next ingredient for the Source: Pollin Slither.

All in all... Not my favorite story of the series. Much could've been improved; the AquaGens (super creative name there) should've been described more, considering they were the main focus of the story. (Enough to steal STEAM's page in the beginning of the story. *sigh*

I will say though; those 10k ZRKs at the end sounded epic! I absolutely love Chris's inhuman abilities.

The Alpha team is now on the Aqua-gen world, where they need to be careful of the sea monsters and pirates to collect the 3rd element and save earth. Dash, Gabriel, and Carly are searching for the pollen slither while Piper pilots the Cloud Cat above for element testing and extraction. But the Omega's show up and put a wrench into everything, again. Can Dash, Gabriel, and Carly save themselves and their new friends, from the pirates and sea monsters? Who will get the element first? Does everyone make it off of the planet? And, where is Chris?

This is another fast paced, suspenseful, awesome book in the series of 6. These books are wonderful with short, meaningful chapters that will appeal to all readers even the most reluctant will fall for the non-stop action and predicaments these kids find themselves in and have to find their way out of. There are three books to go and you don't want to miss out, so get going before the next one comes out on March 1st, titled Voyagers 4: Infinity Riders. Also, don't forget the awesome games to see if you are a Alpha at VoyagersHQ.com

The adventure continues to save earth by gathering the elements needed to fuel the world. The Voyagers must contend with a water planet and its inhabitants along with the Omega team which haunts them at every turn.

I enjoyed the beginning of this series, but by this point, I'm quite frankly bored. I probably won't continue the series. Because I am pretty sure how each book will go and how the series will end. I am sure that this is a fine series for kids, but as an adult, it isn't doing anything for me.

The premise is really interesting and, in terms of lessons, teaches kids about loyalty, perseverance, sacrifice, teamwork, and the greater good. It also teaches about forgiveness, taking the high road, and being innovative. Along with all of that, it's a fun read with a lot of action, adventure, and fantastical places and things. The kids are split evenly between boys and girls and the team is international, so there are plenty of cultures represented. One of the main characters is disabled so there is a lot of diversity in this series. Chapter book for grades 3-7.

Still enjoyable and I definitely liked the water planet. Getting really really sick of Anna. I understand she's supposed to be the "bad guy" but she's starting to ruin the series for me. Would be so much better without her completely or at least toned down. She's more Umbridge than Voldermort and that's not a good thing. What a bitchy little girl!

Even though the page count was shorter, the content...after a slow start...was actually really great. I really enjoyed the book. It was more about the adventure and didn't real build on any of the charaters back storied, but I am oddly ok with that. There are 6 books so I am sure all I need to know will come to light. I enjoyed the this book. On to book 4...

Now the voyagers continue but they have rivals....who want the elements they're looking for, too. They have to keep fighting. The theme of team work has continued, as well as improvising in flying on their feet in the things they come across- various aliens and many other unknows in the path on their mission. These kids are determined! Continued sci-fi and good for grades 5-8.

This was a good continuation of the series. There was a lot of action and peril. I wish it could have been a little bit longer, but it's perfect for the target age group.
