The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it's a melting pot where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn't so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery. This Step 2 Step into Reading leveled reader based on Disney Zootopia features collector cards and a shiny cover!
I managed to grab this book for my daughter also at a little free library near me. My daughter enjoyed this one as she is a big fan of Zootopia and it held her interest. It was a decent level for her (she is above her reading level) not too challenging but not super easy. We would recommend this book.
This is a refreshing learning to read book as it focuses more on animal facts with a few side notes specific to the characters from the movie rather than just rehashing Zootopia. The animal fact cards in the back are a fun bonus that ties in well with the information from the book.

I’m always impressed how well artists do with adapting 3-D animation into 2-D illustrations. This book was nice in that. It was educational of different types of animals. Not much of a plot or much direction. But, if a kid likes Zootopia, they’d probably be down with this book.
How wonderfully refreshing to read a Step into Reading book that isn't a boring rehash of the movie plot. This book (and its trading cards) focuses instead on the things that make the different animals unique - from eyesight to hearing and everything in between. Mini-Me, who is not particularly big on kids' non-fiction, even wanted me to read all the animal facts on the trading cards to her.
This book was just so-so. We have never seen Zootopia and so my kids weren't very interested in knowing about the characters. Not much really happens in the book. It is basically just an intro of the characters. Maybe if your kid watched the movie and enjoyed it this would be a good read. Otherwise, skip it.
A cute way to both introduce some of the characters in the upcoming movie and teach the kiddos about some not-as-popular animals and what they can do. This one is spoiler-free!

This story talks about each characters differences. Then it tells how these differences can help them do many things. This story would work really well for young students. it will teach them that even though we are all different each one of us has something we are really good at. It also teaches them about different animals and the different skills they have because of their differences as well.
This book might be interesting to young readers due to it connecting to the popular blockbuster zootopia. It follows the two main animals, the bunny and the fox as the explain what happens to the super animals and why they turned as they did. This book contains solid colored illustrations. Nothing too special. This would be in the animal section of reading books but it would not be able to be used for a science lesson. This book is too much like a side story of the movie and not very useful for anything else.
