Wonderful story! Mr. Watson has begun his journey into the realm of fantasy....and with great success!
An absorbing, interesting and very creative story with tantalizing, magical aspects and the strong underlying sense of honor. Vivid characters in perilous situations makes this book addictive and intriguing. Well done!
Stupid name, stupid prologue with the ole God creator tell the good, bad, and others gods to make his humans and let them have freewill . So then the bad god pushes limits of instructions and the good guys gets a champion. All that has little to do with the story of a kings bodyguard who teaches the prince from birth all he knows from his 300 years of preparation. Same great story you want in a Fantasy Story in a Standard RPG Fantasy World. The wax on wax off teacher training a prince and princess to reclaim his throne from the evil god champions.
Once again I cannot belie had this book in my library for so long before reading it. It’s more confusing because Thomas A Watson is my favorite author and I’ve read an re-read all his other books countless times.
I’ve read almost all of this author’s series except this one for some reason and I’m sorry I waited so long! Excellent storytelling, world building and writing. Super enjoyable and fun to read. Can’t wait for book 2.
What a rare find. Read finished reading this mere moments ago. I started reading this a couple of days ago and just could not put it down. Every spare moment, and there isn't a whole lot of it between balancing work, household chores, and family, was spent pouring over every page to find out what happens next. I love the characters of this story. The main character, Ahnon, is a very complex figure and I can tell the writer did a really great job fleshing him out so he is awesome but you understood his motivations too.
Kenna and Jedek are great characters as well. I was having fits with some of the conversation these two kids would have with Ahnon and some of the other characters.
i cannot wait until the next book. I am crossing my fingers and sending out good vibes that there will be another soon. I can imagine it in my head how Thanos is like and how the characters look like. It would be such a shame if I do not get to find out what happens to the Ahnon, Jedek and Kenna.
Being a fan of Thomas Watson’s, I had no idea what to expect with a fantasy book by him. I am not really a big reader of the fantasy genre but thought I would give it a shot because of the author and I am so glad I did! This was such an enjoyable story! I laughed…I cried…I cheered and I swore! It has everything in it from Griffons to dragons, from kings to wizards, love and hate and friendships that will pass the test of time! There is action and there are many tense moments when you’re not sure who is going to win! Thomas Watson has created such an entertaining world with this story that I couldn’t put it down. I must admit I thought it started on the slow side but once it got going…bam! I was in hook…line and sinker! Please do not let the word “fantasy” scare you off of this gem. I’m glad I didn’t. I definitely recommend this one to be added to everyone’s TBR list!
An enchanting tale full of magic and mystery. A great plot with excellent character interaction. I started reading this while on vacation, and it was a struggle to put down to do anything else. This one will suck you right into the pages and keep you hooked from start to finish. I can't wait for book 2 to be released as I really want to know what happens next. I loved this book.
I've read all of Watson's other books and he is an excellent author. This was a great read and look forward to the rest of the series. It had a nice mythos and the characters were very well rounded. One of the better fantasy books I've read in the last five years.
A different and exciting genre for Thomas A Watson!
I didn't know what to expect from Thanos, but like everything else Mr. Watson writes, it is a unique blend of humor and action with lovable characters who win you over. When is the next one coming out, kind sir? Please?
At first I had a hard time with the story but as the pages turned I quickly fell in love with the main people. I would recommend this book to my nephews and friends. I really enjoyed the twists of the plot and very much look forward to the next book.
.Not much of a fantasy lover, but this one was a great one. Many times was laughing fool head off. The wit and banter do not disappoint. Very well written.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has been a long time, too long, since I read a good fantasy novel and Thanos ticks all the boxes. The hero Ahnon is a brilliant character, good humour and very likeable. The plot is kept ticking over, it is solid with a good deal of action and interaction.
The ending was a bit abrupt for me but I do want to read the sequel which is always a good indicator that I've enjoyed a book.
