I absolutely loved Squatch Out!, so I was beyond excited to read Squatch This! Jenny and Owen are so fun to read, both as characters in general and their POVs, and I always love spending some time in the PNW, literarily. A sloooowwwwww burn, but I couldn’t help but adore it- it felt like watching two friends dance around eachother until they FINALLY figure it out.
Their story shows all the best parts of community and unabashed mutual crushing and I cannot wait to see where this series takes us next.

(ARC Read)

The first book in this interconnected standalone series, Squatch Out!, was a fun, steamy read that set strong expectations for this sequel. I went in expecting quick, witty prose sprinkled with just the right amount of angst and drama and topped off with a dash of unhinged spice. And Owen and Jenny's love story delivered just that - did not disappoint. Their tale encompasses ten years of pining, so it's a slower burn but well worth the wait. This was a lovely and entertaining escapism read!

I enjoyed the light lore-building in both these books and found that the history of the sas'qets (squatches) was unique and interesting. The commentary on identity and belonging touched on in this book, like many other "monster" romances, is further complicated by Jenny's character being in witness protection and creates an interesting bit of tension. Perhaps it's easier to forgive and forget when there are secrets all around?

Two hidden hearts finally stop running from the life they deserve.

Jenny spends ten years building a quiet life after escaping the family that stole her freedom. Running a small-town general store and surrounding herself with people she trusts finally helps her believe she's more than the frightened young woman she leaves behind. The only thing she can't figure out is why the brooding park ranger she's secretly wanted for years always keeps his distance, even when every charged glance suggests he feels the same pull.

Owen has loved Jenny from the moment she arrives, but one impossible secret convinces him she's better off without him. When fate forces the truth into the open, years of restraint give way to undeniable chemistry, playful teasing, and a connection that feels as natural as breathing. Their long-awaited romance is every bit as tender as it is scorching, with trust growing each time they reveal another hidden piece of themselves.

Just as every wall between them starts to fall, the danger Jenny thought she'd escaped finds its way back into her life. Old ghosts threaten everything she's fought to build, forcing both of them to decide how much they're willing to risk for the future they've only just begun to believe in. The threat tests whether their new trust can hold.

An ultra-steamy, small town, paranormal romance with a sasquatch shifter, witness protection, mutual pining, hidden identities, found family, and protective devotion, exploring trust, healing, identity, freedom, resilience, vulnerability, and the courage to choose love after years of fear. It's about reclaiming a life that was stolen, finding home in the person who sees every hidden part of you, and discovering that the greatest leap isn't believing in a sasquatch, but believing you're finally worthy of being loved.

The Elevator Pitch: A woman who finally escapes the shadows of her past finds an unexpected chance at happiness in a quiet mountain town, only to fall for the one man hiding a secret as extraordinary as her own. As buried truths surface and old dangers close in, trust becomes the only bridge between the life they've survived and the future they dare to imagine together. Blending heartfelt emotion, playful charm, and scorching chemistry, this paranormal romance proves that sometimes the safest place to belong is in the arms of someone brave enough to show every part of themselves.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

🖤 “You mean everything to me.”
~~~
Jenny is so awesome! She’s sassy, fierce and resilient. Even more, she’s very kind, compassionate, understanding, and fun. And I loved that she never backed down from any challenges thrown her way. Jenny is an amazing woman and I loved her so, so much!
And then, there’s Owen - the forest ranger in Seli Lake, and a man who turns into… a Bigfoot! Owen is serious, loyal and responsible. Even more, he’s incredibly thoughtful, observant and fiercely protects what’s his. And that deliciously filthy mouth of his! Owen is one gorgeous, and utterly irresistible man and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Jenny and Owen! After testifying against her uncle, Jenny is put in witness protection and relocated to Seli Lake. She now has the chance for a new life in this small town and the first time she meets a certain park ranger, she cannot take her eyes off him. And Owen… the moment he sees Jenny, he’s obsessed, but he’s keeping a secret that cannot be revealed…
I absolutely adored Owen and Jenny together! Their chemistry was off-the-chards from the start, but Owen didn’t believe anyone would accept him for what he is. So, for years those two were pining after each other without having the courage to act upon their feelings. Nevertheless, despite the slowest of the slow-burns, I loved every moment they spent together. And their banters and teasings were an absolute delight to read. It took both Jenny and Owen a while to give into the undeniable attraction, but when they finally (and one poor unfortunate tree stump that went through a lot… iykyk lol), the passionate moments they shared were scorching hot and I couldn’t get enough of all the naughty delight! Even more, I loved how accepting and understaging Jenny was of Owen's nature, and when her past finally found her, I loved that Owen was there for her no matter what and fiercely protected what was his. Jenny and Owen were absolutely perfect for each other and I’m so thrilled and happy they found happiness and love together!
Overall, SQUATCH THIS! is another spectacular addition to the series! It’s fun, emotional, spicy and will keep you glued to the pages till the very end.
I loved it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Squatch This! by Deysi O’Donal
I am officially in my cryptid romance era and there is NO going back! 🌲🐾
If you told me a book about a park ranger who turns into Bigfoot and a heroine in witness protection would become one of my favorite reads, I’d believe you, but damn—Deysi O’Donal absolutely delivered on this one!
It's fast-paced, under 300 pages, and somehow pulls off a multi-year sloth-slow burn that keeps you hooked from the very first chapter.
TROPES & VIBES:
🌲 Cryptid / Bigfoot Shifter (a big, broody park ranger hero with a soft heart)
💼 Witness Protection Heroine (independent, builds her own business, and handles her own life!)
⏳ Multi-Year Sloth-Slow Burn (years of silent pining and weekly store visits!)
🏔️ PNW Small-Town Realism (rainforest setting, local atmospheric detail, and amazing friends)
💥 Romantic Suspense / Romantic Thriller (high stakes, real self-defense moments, and major "touch her and die" energy)
🔥 Spice, Banter & Pure Fun
💍 Guaranteed Happily Ever After (HEA)
WHY YOU NEED TO READ THIS:
Jenny: She is such a fantastic heroine. She moves to a small town under tough circumstances, but she works hard, keeps her priorities straight, builds her own success, and takes absolute ZERO trash from anyone.
Owen: A giant park ranger who is hyper-observant, ridiculously thoughtful (wait until you see the birthday gift he gets her!), and goes full protective beast mode when it counts.
The balance of small-town rom-com humor, romantic suspense, and swoon-worthy payoff made this impossible to put down. Add this to your TBR immediately!
When I first saw the cover of this book, I thought this is going to be a cosy sweet read but what I wasn’t expecting it be was hot, steamy, spicy and sexy 💕💕
Jenny is put in witness protection after testifying against her uncle. She starts her life over again in a new town where she now has the freedom to do what she wants. When she first meets Owen she can’t stop staring at him, she feels a pull towards him.
Owen works for the forest service and when he sees Jenny he can’t get her out of his head, but he has a secret and he’s afraid if he told her, he’d scare her away. So for 10 years he’s been pining after her but when he realises he has wasted too much time keeping his distance from her he wants her and he’s going to claim her.
Jenny never stopped thinking about Owen always wondering why he kept his distance from her even though there was this connection between them and when he reveals his secret to her, it doesn’t change her feelings for him she wants him just as much as he wants her 💕
When danger isn’t far away Owen realises that he would do everything to protect Jenny from her past, she had woven a place in his heart and he’s never letting her go.
I had such an enjoyable time reading this, its steamy, full of yearning, a journey of healing , finding your person and the chemistry between Owen and Jenny once they finally give into their feeling for each other 🥵 and that stump scene 😅 if you love shifter romance with a small town setting with high heat and loveable characters then I highly recommend this and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
4.25 stars. This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a slowburn, small town, hidden identity, contemporary fantasy romantic comedy between Jenny, the female human lead under witness protection and setting up a new life, and Owen, the male sasquatch shifter, park ranger lead, who never expected to form a relationship because he didn’t know how he’d disclose his non-human status. I ached through the genuinely slow progress through the first 40% of the story, though I appreciated the author’s time jump placements. I enjoyed the funny parts at the end though the awkwardness at the beginning made me flinch. Whilst I understood the characters’ reasoning, the slowness burned. I did, however, appreciate how it showed the non-romance secondary relationships being established. I enjoyed Jenny’s courage and determination. I enjoyed Owen’s gradual acceptance of his emotions, followed by his reaching out to form a relationship. I enjoyed the secondary characters. I enjoyed the non-romance plot and the resolution of that. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes.
This story genuinely stands alone but having read the first in the series allowed me to enjoy a different perspective on some events where overlap occurs.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 · 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
tropes: small town · friends to lovers · bigfoot shifter x mafia princess · fated mates · touch her and die · slow burn · stalks her but in a cute way · alone time with a stump
Somebody wrote a book where a mafia princess gets fated to a bigfoot, which is my exact Venn diagram overlap. Mafia romance in one hand, monster romance in the other, and Deysi O'Donal just stapled them together. I read it in two sittings.
The slow burn is an actual slow burn. O'Donal makes you sit in the friendship long enough that when the fated mates of it all lands, it feels earned instead of assigned by the universe in chapter two. The touch her and die energy is dialed exactly where I want it: he is enormous and feral about her safety and also completely normal about letting her handle her own business. The stalking is cute-coded, and the book knows it is being funny about it.
The PNW of it all is doing so much for me. Wet cedar, fog sitting in the trees, that specific green that soaks up sound. As someone who lives here, it reads like an actual place instead of a backdrop, and the setting quietly does half the work of making a seven-foot forest man feel plausible.
The mafia romance and monster romance lover inside me found their new favorite book. Thank you for the ARC Desyi!
As someone who loved the first book I was so excited to receive Squatch This! If it's possible I love Owen and Jenny's story even more than Sean and Olivia's.
These books are interconnected standalones, meaning you can start anywhere but this one definitely packs more of an emotional punch IMO . The dual POV and first half flashbacks beautifully capture a decade of mutual pining, making the moment they finally come together feel so momentous. As with the first book, the humor and the spice were nothing short of perfect for me... She really isn't ever going to let him live down the stump and I wouldn't either 😅 The way the two books have been woven together so seamlessly made for a very enjoyable read and I CAN'T WAIT for the next book!! That set up with Nikki and Trevor? 👀
I can't recommend this series enough if you love sasquatch or shifter romances in general 🖤
Squatch This! by Deysi O’Donal was such a fun, unexpected read! I went into this one ready for something quirky and entertaining, and it absolutely delivered.
The characters were lovable, the banter was great, and the whole story had this charming, slightly ridiculous, in the best way, energy that kept me turning the pages. It was funny, sweet, and had just the right amount of romance to keep me invested. I especially loved that it didn’t take itself too seriously while still giving me characters I genuinely cared about.
This was the kind of book that was just FUN to read. Sometimes you need a story that makes you smile, lets you escape for a while, and leaves you in a good mood when you finish, and Squatch This! did exactly that.
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a unique, lighthearted romance with plenty of personality.
⭐ 4.5/5 — cute, funny, and delightfully weird. 🦶🌲❤️
Thank you to Deysi for allowing me to be an ARC reader.
This was an entertaining and engaging slow burn romance. Jenny is an orphaned mafia princess looking to escape her life when she witnesses a murder and ends up in witness protection. Now, she's in a small town and slowly, over the years, builds friendships and connections and trust. She has been crushing on Park Ranger, Owen, for years, though. Owen is a cryptid shifter and figures Jenny won't fall for him. However, he can't stay away from her ;) These two finally figure out what's happening between them and both are shocked at the secrets they're keeping ;) Expect to get caught up in the humour, suspense, secrets, danger, emotions and hot chemistry as they work their way to a fab HEA. I loved it and can't wait for more books set in this world :D
The way I squealed with excitement when I found out the details of the second book in this series.
I absolutely adored Jenny & Owen!🥰
AND the stump (iykyk)… I was dying.🤣
I LOVED how we got to see snippets from Sean & Olivia’s story… and another POV!
Once again I was on the edge of my seat… because the past never stays buried.
Also I’m typically not a huge fan of slow burns… but the way these two had this mutual pining for all those years… it made it that much hotter!
And the photos he took… the sweetest thing ever! 🥹
I seriously loved it so much.
And the ending!!!!
It had me kicking my feet and squealing in delight!
This was fun!
It’s a mid/low stakes book with a solid plot and a swoony couple. Owen is afraid of the pull he feels for Jenny. And Jenny is still jumpy from her relocations.
Ten years of yearning and trying to pretend they don’t have feelings leads to an explosive time once they do connect.
Owen and Jenny balance each other out. And the secrets they share connect them. There are some laugh out loud moments. And the book flows really smoothly from start to finish
I received this as an ARC for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
The wait for Owen and Jenny’s story was absolutely worth it! From the very first chapter, I was hooked.
I wish I didn’t have a job/responsibilities so I could have finished reading it sooner, lol!
One of my favorite things about the Squatch Out series is how each book brings something fresh while still feeling like coming home to familiar characters.
SO funny, spicy, sweet, and emotional.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!! <3
I'm an ARC reader of this and the first book in this series, and i really recommend you read them.
They are lighthearted and fun to read and i couldn't put them down, the only bad thing is that they end too fast.
I can't wait for the next book to come.
Gianna's life as she knows it and now she's Jenny living in the Pacific Northwest. From the moment she saw him, she's been attacked to Sean. Too bad he doesn't feel the same. Now there's 10 years of a slow burn with a Squatch on the lose. This is a fun light story with just a quick bit of suspense.
Deysi O'Donal’s books are always a good time, and this one was no different.
The heroine, Jenny, is in witness protection after testifying against her mafia‑boss uncle, and she’s spent ten years tucked away in a tiny Pacific Northwest town… conveniently located in Bigfoot territory. The hero, Owen, is a Bigfoot shifter who knows she’s his mate but can’t tell her because he's afraid of what she'll say when she finds out he's a Squatch. Of course, despite a very slow-burn that spans 10 years, things will eventually come to head, and these two finally get together.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this book if you love shifter romances and want something light, quirky, and entertaining. Squatch This! is fun, sexy in places, a bit silly (as expected), with some genuinely touching moments and a great ending that tees up the next book perfectly.
