Torn. Broken. Damaged. Words Lucy Badeaux would never use to describe her life, not after snagging one of the hottest guys in town. A move to a new state helps her leave the drama of her family and life behind in Palm Springs. However, her past doesn’t want to be forgotten or ignored.

When a tragic incident in her hometown threatens her life, Lucy accepts the protection of a bodyguard—a man who jeopardizes her relationship with her boyfriend, Bryce. Torn by how intensely she feels for Bryce, yet scared he’ll leave her when he realizes how broken and damaged she is, Lucy must make the choice to open up to Bryce, or shut him out of her life for his safety.

Jealous. Worried. Pissed. Words Bryce Morgan would never use when it comes to how he feels for his girlfriend, Lucy. And he’ll be damned if he lets her think their relationship is doomed to fail. Sure, they took their less-than-friendly neighbors situation to the next level too fast and too far, but opposites attract, right?

Bryce will do whatever it takes to convince Lucy they belong together. Lucy is determined to keep secrets from Bryce. Will secrets and a sexy bodyguard drive them further apart? Or can their love overcome their fears and insecurities?

I'm an author of paranormal and contemporary romances. Blessed or cursed, depending on my mood and where I'm at on my current WIP, my overactive imagination guides my muse.

A big fan of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I incorporate various weapons in my paranormal romances and use out of this world names just because I can.

When I read the first book, I didn't realize a second book continued Lucy and Bryce's story which was already a HEA (at least for now). No need to worry - this one does have a HEA, but the characters continue to struggle with their insecurities and developing relationship. Mostly, this story felt like it was focused on Lucy's issues. Some of it I understood as it was about 4 months after the first book, but other issues seemed like she was being stubborn or they were thrown in as extra drama. Those were complications not mentioned in the first book and it confused me if I overlooked something (Bobby).

The other element to the book that left me a little confused was her relationship with her mother. Her stepfather was awesome and I was so glad to see them have a good relationship. Since it was so good, I was surprised how estranged she felt from the entire family. BUT he made a comment that a lot of her issues were Lucy's own perceptions of what happened. Up until this point, I took her interpretations at face value and it never occurred to me there might be another side of the story. What happened with her ex, Eric, mother and the stepsister's role always seemed clear cut. I'm not sure if I missed it, but this comment by Levi left me feeling like the relationship with her family was left open-ended. I am glad she and her mother worked through a few issues and have a promising future.

I read that a few of the characters Tristan (bodyguard) and Claire (Bryce's ex) (both introduced in this book) will have a story. I have mixed feelings about the instalove Tristan had for Lucy. I believe it was centered around her similarities to his wife and how he couldn't protect her in the end. I'm particularly anxious to read Tristan's story and I liked what we heard so far about Claire. This should be a good story.

The stepsister, McKenzie, who seemed to be making an effort with Lucy and moving to Bellingham might also be paired up with Bryce's former motocross friend, Marcus (very briefly introduced when he loaned his plane). I hope we continue to see Lucy's relationship with her family and see how it progresses.

Fabulous !!

Torn - a fast flowing, couldn't put down tale of secret keeping, loss and love.
Lucy has a past which to her deems her broken and unable to give all of herself.
Will a family reunion unravel the secrets of her past and help her communicate better with the people she loves?
The past can hurt but shouldn't impede our future. Can there be a future with Bryce once he learns about her past, especially with the interest from a third party?
Enjoy this tale of intrigue and emotion.
