This book examines Bitter's works, including his sculpture for three major buildings in Cleveland, the Jefferson Memorial in St. Louis, most of the groups on the Wisconsin State Capitol building, and a large number of public projects in New York City, Mr. Dennis has, through a review of such major works, traced the stylistic development of Bitter's relatively short but highly productive career. Some 100 photographs are interspersed in this professional biography of the sculptor. An introduction outlines his personal life.
