“There’s some out there think you’ve gone soft, Bones. Think you’re vulnerable. You won’t take on new recruits. You don’t use any technology. You’re old and set in your ways. People think Legends MC territory is ripe for the picking. And now, letting your ol lady run the place? You're looking weak, brother."
"Nah, you've got it all wrong, man. She means nothing to me. Getting bored as h*ell of looking at that face. She's a nag, too. Only good for one thing. . . "
42-year-old empty nester Polly Pepper unexpectedly becomes the exclusive property of bad-tempered and woman-hating MC Prez Abraham O'Sullivan. Her sweet, bubbly personality grates on him, but somehow she's wormed her way into every aspect of his life and now his diabetes is under control, he's drinking matcha tea lattes. . . but then a few hasty overheard words later and Polly's run away from him.
Can a stubborn, hard-headed MC Prez ever learn to apologize? Change his ways? And will his 55-year-old knees hold up for all the groveling he'll have to do to win Polly back?
Polly's personality was a perfect contrast for Bonemangler, he could be as grumpy as he wanted little Ms sunshine just rolled with it. I loved the humour in this I cracked up so much. Really enjoyed this reread

As the coffee percolated, my eyes turned idly to the mail, and the words JOB OPENINGS caught my eye. Hmm, interesting. Who even advertised in the newspaper anymore? “Job opening at The Legends Motorcycle Club. Needs a woman’s touch. Bed provided. Occasional hard labor, but plenty of free time. Lots of fresh air. Inquire in person at the Shop.”
“Housekeeping?” I ventured. “Clerical work? Gardening? I’m a very good gardener.” “No, it means fucking. The job is freeuse club girl for the Prez.”
Then the doorway darkened and I looked up to see him. The Mangler was a giant, a massive bison-shaped man, with slicked-back dark hair, a grizzled brown-and-gray beard, oversized hawk’s nose, dark eyes, and a lined harsh face. He was stupendously, breathtakingly ugly, but in a very interesting way. I had never seen a face like that in my life.
Lmaoooo I've never had a MMC described as stupendously breathtakingly ugly in my entire over 20 years of reading romance!!!!!! I just cannot!!!!!! 😂🫠
“My primary priority right now is getting Polly back.” Vladdy grunted. “Don’t look at me. I don’t know shit about women.” “You should’ve known better than to perform for your goddamn idiot brother,” Unc said unsympathetically. “I know, I know. I was a jackass. I need ideas now.” “Prez, it says here women like it when men are in touch with their feelings,” Mac put in. “Do you even have feelings?” Fizz snorted. “Shut up. Obviously, I have feelings.” There was silence for a moment. Fizz coughed.😂😂😂😂😂😂
“Maybe you could practice having them,” Mac put in. I gritted my teeth. “Obviously, I have them. I miss Polly. It’s driving me fucking crazy not knowing where she is. Why the hell haven’t I found her yet? It’s been almost a month. I feel like I’m dying.” I looked down at my hands. “Let’s go around in a circle,” Mac said. “That’s what the paper recommends.” We stared at each other. This was ridiculous. What did a bunch of crusty old bikers know about their feelings?
“I didn’t know you were such a feminist,” Ma said, lighting a cigarette. “I’m evolving,” I said. “I respect the fuck out of women.”
“Yeah, Prez, you are not in touch with your feelings at all,” Fizz said. “It’s unfortunate.”
Original review
If you've seen my recent reviews you know the struggle has been REAL!!!!!!!!!! Because of that struggle to find a good book this book's rating is higher than I'd actually go tbh.
* I've never really fallen into the grovel trend, a lot of those books seem to deal with cheating or cheating adjacent behaviour and I don't mess with that BUT this????Gimme 50 million more 🤭
Abraham aka Bones or Bonemangler is a hard ass MC president who hired Polly to be his free use girl. He was developing feelings for her but fighting it he'll hard, his asshole brother showed up and in trying not to appear soft/weak he said some harsh and hurtful things about Polly that she overheard. She immediately fled the clubhouse. Abraham then has to track her down and convince her that an old dog can indeed learn new tricks
************* This book was absolutely enjoyable once you accept it at face value. 😂 If you go in expecting great writing and a plot that makes sense you'll be disappointed. I mean this with no disrespect to the author. Polly went from a divorced former housewife to a MC president's free use bunny. At one point there was a mc showdown with violence and bodies all over.....not a siren to be heard 😂
BUT
For a romance? Hell yesssssssss
Abraham pecking away at the computer trying to find Polly after she'd left? Solid gold Him not only begging and pleading but actually making changes to his behaviour to keep his girl..... priceless
There was a lot more involved in the grovel, at a point I was like awwww Polly take him backkkkkkkkk 😂
There were a couple mentions of previous club women but there is absolutely no doubt that what he feels for Polly is brand new and a complete game changer.
I really enjoyed this, I'm bummed that this author's other books seem to involve actual cheating 😭. Nevertheless I'm grateful for this win.
**This H was described as big and ugly, not scarred just ugly idk if to laugh or cry but I get it Polly gir, I like em a little bit ugly too 😌🫣🤭
Thoughts while reading
I may die of laughter before I get to any fucking in this book because wtf is thissssssss 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My chest omfggggg who's ever described a romance book hero like this omfg I'm dyinggggggggggggg
My fault entirely, I did say all the usual tropes were tired 🤭well What'd you know something brand new 🫠🫣
The physical description of the H🫣
Lmfao, little bit again I'll be clicking my fucking heels in delight. Polly you rock!!
Divorced 42 year old mom, needs money because her shitty ex took everything in the divorce. After her son goes off to college, she takes a job as a free use club girl for an MC. The MC Pres description is hilarious, he’s so ugly he’s interesting lmfao. Super old school and resistant to getting with the times. Honestly even though the job description is just sex, it’s obvious Bones is obsessed with her and respects her. She runs off after overhearing him talking negatively about her and the grovel ensues.
This is the most whacky, unhinged, crazy love story I’ve read in a long time - perhaps, ever! Hysterically funny, I had tears of laughter in my eyes for most of the book.
Polly is an adorably optimistic and perky 42 year old divorcee. Her lawyer husband took her to the cleaners and she came out of a 20 year marriage with nothing but her son, who has recently left home for college. Nevertheless, she is cheerful, hopeful and always looks on the bright side.
Abraham, or Bonemangler, is a huge, ugly president of a biker gang. He is tough, grumpy and hates and mistrusts women because his mother abandoned the family without saying goodbye when he was 18 years old. He grunts his way through the book, despite this, he is grotesquely lovable and has a heart of gold.
This is the unlikely story of how Polly becomes Abraham’s ‘free-use’ club girl and worms her way into his heart.
Abraham’s crew members are an endearing group of scallywags and Polly, a natural homemaker, takes them under her wing and begins to mother them. She takes over the kitchen, cooks their meals, grows a herb garden, gives advice on matters of the heart and they are respectful and begin to care for her whimsical ways.
It’s not everybody’s cup of tea and if you find bad language, explicit sex scenes and violence offensive then this is not for you but oh boy it is a short, light-hearted, hilarious read!
Alright take a right at the fuck-it junction and a hard left past the who-gives-a-shit boulevard and then just keep on driving straight through the why-am-i-reading-this intersection and eventually you'll hit the prefrontal cortex and yup keep that part shut while reading this cause you gotta abandon depth and logic to enjoy this or you'll have a goddamn aneurysm trying to figure out the logistics of a motorcycle club president falling for a 42 year old PTA mom who answers a vague newspaper ad for a "job" and ends up as his freeuse club girl like are we serious right now but holy hell if this wasn't the most bonkers wildly entertaining piece of fiction I've devoured in a minute and I'm not ashamed to say Katie Landry's books are my junk food for fiction and this one was probably my favorite from her yet because the plot is just absolute ott ridiculousness where Polly leaves her shitbag ex husband and somehow ends up as the personal plaything of Abraham "Bonemangler" O'Sullivan who is this massive ugly as sin grumpy giant of a man who claims he hates women but is absolutely obsessed with her cooking and her gardening and her yapping and I lapped this shit up. 'cause if you're looking for angst in this you're a dumbass cause this is pure entertainment where the dude literally compares his grief of missing her to a saggy testicle dragging along the ground like be so fucking for real right now💀💀🤣🤣 but I loved Polly she was such a cheerful unhinged yapper who just never stopped talking and Abraham just grunted and growled the whole time but for once I actually loved the mmc too cause his grumpy ass was secretly a softie who paid for her son's entire college tuition and killed his abusive father to save a brother and the whole thing had me cackling but the scene that absolutely sent me was when he was trying to grovel and his MC brothers were holding up cue cards outside the window that said shit like "I RESPECT WOMEN AND DO NOT THINK THEY'RE JUST PUSSY" like I cannot with this book it was so damn funny and stupid and perfect and I had to put the book down because I was crying with laughter at these old bikers trying to help their emotionally constipated prez and the fact that Abraham was sweating bullets trying to sew a quilt back together with his giant mechanic fingers while his brothers roasted him was pure comedy gold, this book is off its fucking rocker and I loved every second of it and I would read a thousand more of these ridiculous stories because sometimes you just need to turn your brain off and watch a giant ugly man fall desperately in love with a cheerful mom who makes him drink matcha lattes and eat vegetables and then proceeds to break his brother's nose with a wrench, absolute perfection!! Keep cranking these out KL because my dopamine receptors are shot to hell and only a 7 foot grumpy biker crying over a quilt can fix em and mama needs her fix of this ridiculousness so keep em coming you beautiful unhinged silly queen!!😘
I’m giving this 3.5 stars because I had a blast reading it. It definitely won’t win any literature awards, but it’s was a great betrayal and grovel book. The betrayal wasn’t so bad they couldn’t be redeemed (like cheating) BTW- the cover model totally fits
The heroine’s name is Polly Peppers. 😜😂 I think she’s a divorced 46 year old. She has the ridiculous a-hole ex who upgraded with a younger new wife. He also hid their money during the divorce, so Polly got nothing. Polly answers an ad working at a garage.
The ad is for a “free use” girl. Mr Bonemangler is an ugly guy with a hawk like nose. He’s 56 and he’s a GRUMP. 😂😂 He just wants a wet hole because it’s been a while for him.
It’s totally clear from the moment Bone meets Polly- he’s totally obsessed with her even though he tries to fight it. She’s like a ray of sunshine into his life- and the MCs life. I guess they are like a bunch of old guys.
So for the first half is Polly changing Bone’s life. Then Bone’s creepy half brother shows up and Bone said some very hurtful things about Polly. Polly heard and she left immediately.
The rest is Bone groveling. This man grovels. He does the one thing he doesn’t want to do and that is use technology. 🤪🤪🤪 You can just picture this whole scene in your head. Bone pecking away on some old computer. The fact that the MC ended up patching a new member in (when they swore they never would) just because this new guy knew how to work computers. I was laughing.
Bone does grovel and he proves he loves Polly. I loved all the POV’s from Bones when he’s moaning about how his body hurts. SAME SIR! SAME. It sucks getting old.
After a string of bad betrayal books lately, this was a nice change.
You know what? This was good! Especially the pacing was great! I feel like the pacing in novellas is weird oftentimes but in this one it’s just fantastic!
I need this author to write more novellas like this one asap!
Safety: - no virgins - both were celibate for some time before meeting each other (H was a manwhore before tho..) - h was married, got divorced and has an 18 year old son with her ex - no cheating or sharing - a breakup with MAJOR grovelling! - no OW/OM drama - HEA
This felt a little different from my usual reads, and I absolutely loved it.
the hero was straight up described as ugly 😭🙏. That's something I almost never come across in romance books
I loved both the main characters. The FMC was mature yet adorable, while the MMC was broody and grumpy, but he eventually got his shit together. The groveling was so satisfying, and I felt it justified mistake he made. I loved how sorry he was and wanted his Polly back and also make her all happy and bubbly again
“You might be waiting a long time. Like forever.”
“You’re worth waiting for.”
Safety:
- The mmc hadn't had sex with anyone else for quite a while before the fmc - The fmc had been divorced from her husband for a year and it had also been a long time since she had sex last with anyone. - No owd - No Omd.
3.5-ish? This novella had me laughing all the way to the end. 42-year-old divorcee Pollyanna (and she lives up to the name) has been screwed over in her divorce and need a job. She answers a... suspiciously vague newspaper ad that turns out to be for a transactional sexual relationship (aka, 'club bunny') for 56-year-old club prez Bonemangler, aka Abraham. She's super enthusiastic! He gets the feels! He puts his foot in his mouth and she dips! He gets the sad feels and tries to learn about toxic masculinity.
OTT super tongue-in-cheek MC grovel romance. All the MC brothers are verging on geriatric (one needs hearing aids, the prez is pre-diabetic, nobody knows how to use any modern technology...), which is slightly upsetting since they're all elder Gen-X, and Polly is elder Millennial, which makes me feel some type of way.
ARC read. Thanks to BookSirens, my opinions are my own.
My best advice is before reading this, be ok with the idea it’s meant to be over the top humorous, and just go with the ridiculousness of it all. If you expect angst and a real life motorcycle club, 1 %’er storyline, you’ll be disappointed. And Bonemangler is far from disappointing as long as you go with its OTT humor. And spice is off the charts, packed into a short story. Pollyanna and her sweet disposition were the stars of the story.
Dnf @ 80% My problem with grovel stories is that I never want men to be forgiven 🤷♀️ I can see she’s coming around to him at 80% so that’s where I stop
My GOD, this book was hysterical! I've steered clear of Katie Landry books for the most part because while I love this author's other pen names, they are usually cheating grovels and I just don't mess with that, but when my GR friend read and reviewed it, I realized there wasn't any actually cheating and I was there for it!
What a freaking fun read! For one thing, I'm pretty much the FMC. I'm a 42 year old SAHM, I have a garden, I cook and bake and have a sourdough starter named Scarlet Doughansson. I also wouldn't mind being a freeuse MC assistant 😂😂😂😂 So clearly this was off to a great start. The entire rag-tag team of MC members were delightful. They were like the "Golden Girls" of motorcycle clubs and every moment was fantastic.
Mr. Mangler (🤣) was just a great H, I love a grumpy H and he was just the most disgruntled. He reminded of Ron Swanson, but make it an MC Prez. He clearly liked the FMC, Polly Pepper from the beginning but was just all constipated with his feelings and felt conflicted with how to handle all the changes she was making to his life. He had a moment of weakness when his brother came by and said hurtful things he shouldn't have said. But boy did he grovel to make up for it! I did feel like Polly milked it a little too long, but I'm Goldilocks with my grovels, "This grovel is too big, that grovel is too small, I need a grovel that is juuuuust right" and considering the spirit of the book, it only makes sense he had an OTT grovel since everything else in this book is dialed up to 11. The length was perfect for the book, kept it from growing annoying or tedious.
Should you read this? If you're looking for a quick, fun read that you don't take too seriously, then you absolutely should. If you're looking for something more serious or meaningful, I'd definitely skip it.
OMG what a great read! This was sooooo funny. Make sure you can read it where you can laugh out loud. 😂
He thought he was only interested in the sex, until he mouthed off, and she left.
The groveling was a bit over the top. She took a looonnng time to forgive him. Which is funny for me to say because I am all over either not forgiving or giving them a really hard time. I guess she was too insecure even though she mostly acted strong.
This was corny and funny as hell, but somehow it worked. Highly entertaining. It has the overheard trope but the silliness of the book made it angst-light.
I really, really enjoyed this one. I would have rated it higher but there were so many spelling errors and inconsistencies it was a little distracting. I enjoyed the older FMC and how she made the MMC grovel. I loved his response when he found out she left. I didnt enjoy how critical she was of his looks-it was funny the first time but afterwards it just felt mean.
Im definitely going to read more from this author. This was such a nice quick read. Ive been wanting to read MC romances and this one hit the spot....although I had a few issues with the MC aspect of it. These guys felt like a bunch of technology challenged geriatrics rather than an actual MC. You cant tell me they run an actual MC with 5 old ass members-one being in a wheelchair. A 1% with a reputation bad enough that other clubs dont bother them? Be so for real. Anyway, I still enjoyed it.
This was objectively bad - but I also weirdly see the appeal: it just wasn’t really for me.
42-year-old curvy divorced mom becomes the “free use” girl of the motorcycle club Prez, Bonemangler (Abraham), who is 56 (?) and described as “stupendously breathtakingly ugly”.
After they’ve been together for several months, he says very crude and insulting things about her to his brother, she overhears and leaves, he spends the last 40% of the book trying to get her back and groveling.
The appeal in the story is almost weirdly in the charmingly bad writing, the charmingly simple heroine, and the charmingly Neanderthal-like H.
To me, the 191 pages felt like a full-length novel; and not in a good way.
- Mid-book breakup - No misunderstanding driving the plot. She agrees to have sex with him whenever/wherever he wants and she embraces and loves it. - Forced proximity - she lives with him at the clubhouse and takes over - cooking meals, taking care of everyone - No OM/OW - there are no sex bunnies at the MC club. She sleeps in his room. Neither are with anyone else. - Her ex-husband is the classic cartoony douchebag ex who leaves her for his blond secretary. He took advantage of her lack of funds during the divorce and left her fairly poor. Bonemangler confronts him on her behalf. - Spice - open door, everywhere. - Dual POV; HEA. He proposes in the epilogue.
I mean it is what it is. If you can kind of just go along for the silly ride, it’s okay. I guess. 🤷🏻♀️

I haven't had so much fun reading a book in a longtime!
The freeuse wasn't what I was expecting (as in what I know of it) but what was there worked perfectly fine. And really, there is so much more to the story than that.
What a fun book! This is the third book I’ve read by Katie Landry and it’s a hoot. Polly, divorced, broke, and now an empty nester, reads a job advertisement in the paper that doesn’t specify what the position is. Turns out that position is the operative word, because Bonemangler, an MC prez, hires her to be his personal free-use club bunny. And she’s thrilled. When Bones acts like a rhymes-with-Masshole, their relationship reaches a crisis point. Then it’s beautiful, beautiful groveling. Like, the man could teach a community college course in groveling. It’s so over the top that it’s delightful.
I loved the characters. Penny is pure sunshine without being annoying, and that’s hard to write. Bones is big and tough but with a soft, marshmallowey spot for Penny (he also has a big, hard spot for her, which he demonstrates in all kind of fun ways). I thought it was great that Bones is the youngest member of the MC at 56. It’s like AARP MC. As a member of the over-50 club, I loved that this was a midlife love story. (It’s also an age gap story because she is only 42).
I gobbled this book up like it was the last cupcake. And it’s delicious.
I put my name forward for this ARC from the author, via Book sirens, wholy and souly because of the name! I thought this was going to be a gritty, gruesome nasty story, was that what I got??
No! Definitely not!
What i got was a ridiculously crazy over the top silly story of a 42 year old divorced empty nester, who answers an add for a job, with no real description, only to find out she's wanted as a "freeuse" club girl in an MC! "Freeuse", though only extends to the president, Bone Mangler, the woman hating leader of a pack of 50year old plus Bikers! The two main characters were perfect together! Bones is just a woman hating Neanderthal, and Polly is a natural homemaker, looking for something to do with her life. I loved this quick read story, and now I need more by this author.so, if you have a couple of hours to share and need a good laugh, then this is your book. BonesI felt like afucking saggy testicle dragging along the ground
This was a fast paced MC book. Bonemangler works at the shop taking care of the motorcycles he is also the Prez. Polly is in her early forties, her son has just gone away to college and she hurting for money. When she divorced her husband she gave him the house, her van and didn’t request any alimony although she was definitely entitled to it. So when she see Bonemangler’s ad for a woman to work in his shop she quickly applies not knowing that he was looking for a freeuse woman. Polly was quick to take the job since she hadnt been getting any action. Bonemangler (Abraham) told her not to catch feelings this wasn’t a relationship but she did. So when Polly hears him disparaging her she quickly leaves. This is a grovel romance, where Bonemangler must do what he can to get Polly to forgive him and entice her back home. Great story I enjoyed it. I really liked that this book was focusing on older adults and no young people in their twenties. We need more books about older sexy curvy women and the men who love them.
haven’t loved some of her more recent ones but loved this!!!
This is exactly what I loved about her earliest works! Some betrayal, a little bit of minor antics and a strong woman. Also like to mention how authentic she is - and honestly Bonemangler as well. What she did right that some authors struggle is we actually felt how much he was falling for her so we knew his inner feelings so it was ok to forgive him
This was as fun and unhinged as Susan D’s review promised it would be! 😂 And so satisfying!
This was a new author to me and I’ve already devoured another one of her books. It can be hard to walk the line of hilariously absurd and eye-rolling cringe in romance. But Landry does it perfectly. The writing is great. The characters are funny. And the resolutions are satisfying.
This was a smutty , OTT , stupid -funny/ overhearing of harsh words MC romance. I loved the fact that the MCs are older and not perfect looking Or in the best of shape physically, at least that part felt real. The whole thing with the mmc’s mom towards the end of the book was corny and I felt like it took away from the MCs .
I’m all for reading about older couples but this just made me sad. What a pathetic perspective and life written up for both the main characters. A dried up used up no skips no nothing 42 year old and a big vulgar 56 year old. Just wtf.
Katie Landry delivered another addictive Motorcycle Club romance! Bonemangler gave me all the angst, heartbreak, and emotional payoff I was hoping for. Watching the hero fight to make up for his mistakes made every page impossible to put down, and the chemistry between these two never let up. I laughed, I hurt for them, and I was cheering for their HEA by the end. If you’re a fan of MC romances with a satisfying grovel, this one deserves a spot on your TBR!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Couple: Abraham & Polly ❋❋❋❋❋❋ Yes! This is my favorite Katie book. Absolutely nuts in the best way. Bones was always a good guy, he just needed his Polly and her sunshine.
