Firstly, I absolutely love Sophie Gravia’s books. I have read them all so I was really looking forward to reading this ARC!
I did enjoy the whole aspect of the girls going to New York as it was something different. However, I felt that throughout the book there was a lot of repetition and going in circles. E.g. it mentioned Gossip Girl a lot of times and to me, it felt like with the mystery storyline of this book, it was based off of Gossip Girl.
I know books are often unrealistic but how do we always have the FMC (explained as having no money, not much going on apart from this business/app) getting in with not one, but two extremely wealthy business owners. Katy is just annoying, constantly being portrayed like she has absolutely no common sense (the razor incident), falling for guys two seconds after seeing them. The continuous “we need to go home” over and over again. The app was obviously the main reason for the trip but felt it was brought up but also brushed over and took a back seat to everything else going on in the book. I just felt the mystery storyline was added just to beef up the book and put a twist in it. The chopping and changing of people together, people cheating, they’re back together just seemed to be repetitive. Some of the chapters (Katy and “12 inch guy”…) why? It seemed like it was added just to make up words. Multiple random “by-chance” meetings as if New York isn’t huge! (I know one of them was explained).
I do feel bad, because like I say I do usually love Sophie’s books but I just really could not get in to this one.

Chose this in error thinking it was a follow up from a book I read about girls running a dictionary club . Had been searching for ages. Or a sequel . Started listening to the audiobook so still didnt pick up this was a different spelling of dictionary. Think I need to go to specsavers because I wondered why they called the dating app dictionary.
Anyway I'm from Scotland so loved the 3 girls accents . Imagine my surprise when the girls started falling into bed with men left right and centre. Lol 😆
Wasn't the smut that stopped me finishing it was just too predictable and the characters not fleshed (😉) out enough .
A raunchy fun easy read if that's what your like .

The last time we met Ella, Katy and Zola, they were fresh-off starting The Dicktionary Club, a women-only website that shone a light on Scotland's red-flag men and their shoddy behaviour with scathing reviews, spiralling them into territory that was eye-opening for not only their own love lives, but their new venture ahead. In Stars And Swipes, we're heading stateside for the launch of their website there after an enticing offer from a company that wants to collaborate with them on an app, the entrepreneur catching wind of their website's infamous success. The tight-trio are thrown into a completely different country's dating game, still just as turbulent as Scotland's—and they are each, in their own ways, anxious yet happy to flee Glasgow for a while to leave their love life troubles behind for a breath of fresh, American air.
Only, being on another continent doesn't make their issues go away, and the women are finding that out all too well. No matter how many Gossip Girl dreams they planned to live out in New York City, it's the fun they wanted to replicate, not the drama. Ella experiences a long-distance heartache that threatens to derail the future she had in mind, single and forever a wildcard, Katy, is as untamable as ever, and Zola's relationship that was already on the rocks comes crashing down around her in one unexpected phone call. To make matters worse, they're getting semi-threats from an unknown source that begins to startle them. Still, the girls have each other—unwaveringly so—and together, they know they can face anything. But as secrets grow sharp and misunderstandings gather, the break from their lives and new adventure seem to have merged into something none of the three of them could have expected.
There is something about Stars And Swipes (and the series so far, in particular) that is so down-to-earth, hilarious and uplifting, a deep sense of girlhood thriving through the very spine of the book. Sophie has this way of sparking so much joy from just reading her words, and Ella, Katy and Zola have become so dear to me over these two books (so far!) and mean so much to me. There are Sex and the City vibes throughout, dashes of Bridget Jones with The Bold Type, but what surpasses that is this ultimately unique heart and spirit that I've not found in any other book nor film, unreplicable. Sophie is genuinely the Queen of spice and banter, and has such a way with words that will either make you laugh out loud or feel your heart tug with immense empathy. Zola is forever my favourite, and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. I could legitimately read stories about Ella, Katy and Zola all the time and never get bored. I want to read about their adventures, their hearts, their sisterhood, always. This was such a standout, stellar book and I am incredibly excited for more from Sophie in the near future!

Following on from The Dicktionary Club, Ella, Zola and Katy are back, and this time they’re taking things across the pond. After being asked to collaborate with American company Flirtify, the trio head to America to help bring their website into app form, while also navigating the absolute chaos of the American dating scene.
And honestly, I absolutely loved being back with this Scottish trio.
The story follows all three women as they juggle the Flirtify opportunity alongside their own messy personal lives. Katy is still single and trying to find the one, Zola and Curtis seem to be stuck in a rut, and Ella is beginning to feel like she’s losing herself, especially when Philip doesn’t support her plans for expanding the app in America.
The friendship between Ella, Zola and Katy is easily one of my favourite parts of this series. Their banter, loyalty and support for each other is brilliant, and the sitcom/Sex and the City vibes are strong in the best possible way. It’s fast-paced, hilarious, refreshing and completely engrossing.
That being said, the language and descriptions are still very explicit, but if you’ve read book one, you already know what you’re walking into. The sex scenes are descriptive, sometimes shocking, and at times genuinely hilarious. Katy especially had me wanting to shake her and say, girl, please slow down. Honestly, I need a third book just so I can see her settle down.
Some of the plot reveals were predictable, but it didn’t take away from how much fun I was having. I was fully along for the ride, even if my heart wanted a few more consequences for certain characters who wronged the golden trio.
I did struggle slightly with how often the C-word was used, but after speaking to Scottish friends, I understand that this is very much part of the humour and communication style for some people, and with the author being Scottish, it feels like her voice naturally filters through the page.
Overall, this was fast-paced, feel-good, chaotic and full of friendship, found family, romance, heartbreak, betrayal, miscommunication, mishaps and absolute madness.
A hilarious and sexy sequel with big friendship energy and plenty of chaos.

Ahhhhh! I absolutely loved this so, so, SO much. I devoured it in one sitting.
The adventures of Ella, Katy, and Zola… and what adventures they are. Lies, deceit, betrayal, mystery, sex, laughter, tears, joy, d*ck, and everything in between.
This book had me HOWLING. Genuinely, I don’t think there was a single chapter where I didn’t laugh. It flowed so effortlessly too. I highlighted an embarrassing amount of this book. SO much to highlight.
The only thing I struggled with was the insta-love trope, but that’s fully a me problem, not a Sophie problem. I know it technically spans a couple of weeks, but it still felt a little too fast for me personally. That’s literally my only criticism.
Everything else? Chef’s kiss. Easy five stars.
Spice, humour, mystery, drama, chaos, friendship, and whodunnit vibes all wrapped together perfectly. I loved getting all three girls’ POVs too. And Zola? Oh, I absolutely adore her. She deserves the entire world.
Also, I need book 3 immediately. No pressure, Sophie… but also, maybe a little pressure. Respectfully.
The Dictionary Club + Stars and Swipes are such addictive comfort reads. Fun, easy to binge, but still packed with enough emotion and drama to make them memorable. I loved that balance.
And the mystery?? Your girl reads far too many thrillers, so I did figure it out… BUT it still had that “oh shit” reveal factor when everything came out.
Also BRITNEY. Can we maybe just… erase her from existence? Poof. Gone. Dust in the wind. Thanks so much.

As someone who had not read The Dicktionary Club I do feel that reading that book prior to this one would be an asset, though not a necessity, as it would’ve provided a bit more backstory for each of the characters. Overall, though, this was a really fun quick summer read.

Waaa! This book was such a good time. It made me want to grab my besties and head to New York with only my girl boss dreams and a business credit card. Just wish I had an idea as good as Stars and Swipes!
From start to finish, I was hooked on this lighthearted read where almost every man is a loser and almost every woman deserves better. The girls are a textbook sisterhood and everything female friendships should be: oversharing, wildly inappropriate, and unquestionably loyal (We ride at dawn, girls!). The setting is slick and luxurious and everything you want from a fun, sexy romance. There's a hot love interest, questionable decisions, a cutthroat business world, ex boyfriends, cheaters, liars, more questionable decisions (cough, Katy, cough), and a whole lot of fun.
Stars and Swipes is the perfect sequel to the Dicktionary club and the perfect summer read!

This time, the girls take on America as they try to launch their app overseas, but nothing comes easy. From heartbreak and relationship drama to sabotage and endless obstacles, there always seems to be something standing in their way. All they want is to find success, find love, and enjoy life—but can they ever catch a break?
One of my favourite things about Sophie Gravia's writing is how authentic the characters feel. The Scottish humour and accent shine through on every page, adding so much personality and charm to the story. It makes the characters feel real and relatable, and often had me laughing out loud.
The mix of friendship, romance, ambition, and chaos kept me hooked throughout. While there are plenty of emotional moments, the book never loses the warmth and humour that made me fall in love with these characters in the first place.
If you enjoyed Dicktionary Club, Stars and Swipes is a fantastic continuation of the story. It's funny, heartfelt, full of drama, and a wonderful celebration of friendship. I couldn't put it down and would highly recommend it.

I love these girls so much. The relationship between the three of them continues to be one of the best parts of these books. I really enjoyed The Dicktionary Club and was so excited to have the opportunity of reading Stars and Swipes early. Katy is genuinely hilarious. She brings such a fun energy amongst the chaos. Will we see her settle down in a third book? I adoreeeeed seeing Zola and Ethan get closer as the book progressed. Ethan was such a great character to add into this book. I still love Ella. Such a strong woman and I loved her personal development throughout this book.
The plot had me laughing at points and beyond angry at other points. I loved the mystery element of this book. It added a different dynamic to the romance plot lines. You knew something was going to go wrong but just didn’t know how and why.

We had more fun, more banter and more twists - that I wasn’t expecting! New characters emerging into the story and from an insider perspective from a multi million pound company. I have to say my favourite character was Ethan - literally loved that IQ obsessed man and laughed so much at his geeky bluntness.
I loved how different but also the same this book was following the first, we knew the overall theme but somehow Sophie wrote it even better than the first. The only niggle I had was that the indecisiveness of Ella had me a little agitated, but also completely understood why - I did feel so much empathy for her character as it felt like she took the brunt of it.
You need to add this to your TBR, this is the summer romance of the year!

Stars and Swipes - audiobook
Having just listened to the first book in this series, I can confirm that the narrator has improved massively in the sequel! I’m guessing there was lots of feedback that the accents/voices in the previous book weren’t great, as this time around they were all toned down and much much better!
I loved how the majority of this book was set in the heart of NYC, this was fun and introduced some interesting new characters. This book was full of laughs and just as much chaos as the first, and I loved that about it. Some things did feel very similar to the first, especially the press party for the Stars and Swipes app being interrupted with dramas, as this happens in the first book, but it was still enjoyable!
I also found myself wanting Ella and Phillips relationship to work out, given how great it was in the first book, but I could understand why the story ended the way it did.
I was really sad for the book to end as I was enjoying being in the bubble of the 3 main characters; Ella, Zola and Katy, lives whilst in New York. I would love for there to be a third instalment to this series!

The New York setting gives proper Gossip Girl vibes, except funnier, messier and far more chaotic. Bigger city, bigger drama and somehow even worse dating decisions.
One of my favourite things about Sophie’s books is how real the friendships feel. The girls are all completely different but so believable, and you end up attached to every one of them. Also, every woman needs a Jimmy in their life. That’s all I’m saying.

Stars and Swipes, by Sophie Gravia
This was HILARIOUS! It felt like I was there with my friends Ella, Katy & Zola. I found myself cheering the girls on, gettins sad and laughing out loud at certain scenes.
The relationship between the 3 girls is a relationship that every girl should have, the way they love and support each other is so refreshing.
I never liked Phillip and how he treated Ella, even in the first book, there were just too many red flags I could not ignore and some of her decisions in the book were not ideal but at the end of the day, we're all girls and need to discover these things for ourselves.
I was HOWLING with laughter at the razor scene!!
I'm glad how things went with Zola towards the end, because it almost seemed like it was going to go another way, which I wouldn't have loved.

Sophie has done an amazing job with the sequel to The Dicktionary Club and I absolutely loved it! My goodness, it's been a rollercoaster ride with this one and the drama was incredible. It was so much more intense compared to the first one, almost like you have a bucket of popcorn and just watching the whole thing unfold. Also, it was so nice to see Ella, Zola and Katy again working on their dating app but in America. They for sure have come a long way. In my opinion, this book really has shown how some men are absolute trash wherever you are and some are absolute angels and that all comes down to the right timing and who you meet. We could see a character development for Ella and Zola and Katy was just being Katy 😂 but it was sweet that they all still have each others back no matter what.
