First Impression? (irony intended) High school drama. Writing ok but draaama. That feel got better as I went along, but never really left and just wasn't for me I am afraid. I had a bit of trouble keeping who the modern mapped Bennet Girls were supposed to be at first (except for Allie aka Elizabeth and Jenna aka Jane).

Allison is the lead singer of the band Eclectic Girls. When she was thirteen, she had a huge crush on Will, a former boy band heartthrob. Years later, he’s made several rude comments about her, her band, and even her songwriting ability, so it’s safe to say she can’t stand him. Unfortunately, they’re forced to work together on a long-term promotional project, and the more time she spends with him, the more confusing he becomes.

As a huge fan of Pride & Prejudice, I immediately recognized the clever parallels. Will is a wonderful modern-day Mr. Darcy—reserved, misunderstood, occasionally arrogant, yet surprisingly kind and shy beneath the surface. Allison, a successful rockstar and Grammy winner, makes a fantastic Elizabeth Bennet: witty, independent, and determined not to let first impressions change easily.

There are quite a few characters to keep track of, and at times it was a little difficult to follow everyone. That said, I absolutely loved Jenna and Cameron, who gave off strong Jane Bennet and Mr. Bingley vibes.

The author did an excellent job of taking both Allison—and the reader—from disliking Will to completely falling for him, just as so many of us did with Mr. Darcy. My only wish is that Allison and Will had been thrown together more often, allowing their relationship to develop through even more shared moments.

Overall, this was a delightful rockstar romance with a fresh Pride & Prejudice twist. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, loved the ending, and happily give it five stars. I highly recommend it to fans of contemporary romance, especially anyone who loves Jane Austen-inspired retellings.
