Hi! I'm Ruth A Casie. I write historical adventures from the shores of medieval Scotland to the cobblestone streets of Regency London. My stories embrace strong woman and the men who deserve them. Within the pages you’ll discover ‘edge-of-your-seat suspense, mind boggling drama, and heart melting emotions. Grab your favorite cup of tea, or an ale if you prefer, and join my heroes and heroines as they race across the pages to find their happily ever after. I hopes her stories are your next favorite adventures!
Here are five things you probably don’t know about me. 1. I filled my passport up in one year. 2. I have three series. The Druid Knight stories are a historical time travel series. The Stelton Legacy is historical fantasy about the seven sons of a seventh son. The Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea, a regency romance about ladies who all graduated from the same women's seminary. I also write stories in the Pirates of Britannia Connected World. 3. I did a rap to “How Many Trucks Can a Tow Truck Tow If a Tow Truck Could Tow Trucks.” 4. When I cook I dance. 5. My Sudoku book is in the bathroom. I’m not saying anything else about that. My stories feature strong women and the men who deserve them, endearing flaws and all. Their stories will keep you turning the pages until the end. I hope my stories become your favorite adventures. I’m a USA Today bestselling author. My hobbies: * counted cross stitch * ballroom dancing - not just between the fridge and stove * reading almost anything * Sudoko - I'm still staying quiet about that
Disclaimer: The lovely ladies who wrote this book have been to my store to do signing before. This book was provided by the authors for me to read and review. Neither it nor the authors' visits to my store have swayed this review.
I am not romantic by nature. I don't really do flowers and though I will never say no to chocolate, I don't see it as a romantic thing to receive. I'm somewhat cynical by nature, so when I say that I loved this book, it's not just lip service.
The stories by themselves range from good to blew-my-socks-off. Together, the authors form a sort of author Voltron, that is super-powerful and can melt this somewhat frozen heart of mine.
What really did it for me in this book was the continuity. The stories all take place at the same lodge in Maine during the weekend of a wedding. The characters are all either participants, friends or family members of the two getting married. Each story follows a different couple, but with all of the characters making an appearance in at least one of the other stories. There was a slight red-herring where a rather prominent couple in all of the stories led me to believe that they were going to get their own story, but they did not. After I finished reading the book, I realized that their story was told in the entire book. They were strong secondary characters to the stories, but they were the main characters in the overarching storyline of the book. It was pretty awesome to be honest. I really enjoyed that.
If you are into contemporary romance, you will really enjoy this book. The stories are all light and other than the last story, all are clean. The last story had a hint of spice to it. I'm not overly into spicy, but the characters and humor in it were so good, I still really enjoyed the story. The entire work is well written and very smart. The characters are real, the setting is lovely (though I'm not sure I would care to meet a moose like one of the characters did...) and the humor made me smile. Though the sad parts made me tear up. HEAs abound in this book, but not before giving the reader a few punches to the gut. Or is it more like a punch to the nose? ;)
Five, huge stars and a hearty recommendation for everyone to try it. We all need a little romance in our lives, even somewhat cynical readers such as myself. ;)
What drew me to this book was that it was short stories of love but all at the same wedding event. There were characters that appeared in each of the stories and the authors were good at holding them true to their traits and personalities. For romance at all ages and stages, I recommend this read.
