This is a collection of the third six short stories in the Caverns and Creatures series. It includes the following titles:
House of Madness
Naga Please
Elf Inflicted
The Land Before Tim
A Fistful of Gold Pieces
The Minotard
If you've already purchased all of these books, there is nothing new for you here. If you haven't yet purchased any, you can save a few bucks by buying this collection. If you've only purchased some of these already, you'll have to do some math.
3d6 (Caverns and Creatures collection 3) by Robert Bevan is another collection of stories to hurt yourself on. Seriously, you could strain a muscle laughing.
Kind of hooked on this series of Dungeons and Dragons like adventures. Crude humor, mom jokes, bickering characters that pull together when needed... and Cooper. Despite his 3 Charisma he makes this series a riot. Try the audiobook for the full benefit. Very well done reading.
Again, these books are completely juvenile. They would cause any well functioning adult to eye roll their eyes but by golly do I find these books hilarious. They are so silly, ridiculous, crass and juvenile but I absolutely adore it. This series is sincerely the absolute lightheartedness deliverer to me. I always laugh and feel in a good mood after listening to these books. I hope they never stop. I’m a forever fan.
Enough with the adoration, as for this series of shorts.....hilarious. ‘The Minotard’.....too funny. These were a great batch of shorties with each one better than the one before it. As I pace myself through this series, I’ll start book 4 in a few month. Funnest. Series. Ever!!!

I listened 🎶 to each of these individually each story is different with interesting characters lots of action, misdirection, and violence leading to each conclusion of the boys 👦 adventure thriller fun 🌙
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of fantasy world 🌐 adventure thriller action novels 👍🔰. 2025 😈😮
☺these short stories are a romp! It's so much fun to read about the gang in their quest and adventure between the novels😉getting the next book in the series now!😊
The gang is back in another set of short stories set in Bevan’s Caverns and Creatures universe. The characters were all people pulled into a game universe in the first book of the series and they are basically trying to just get along. The problem? They all have drinking problems which requires money to support. And they also don’t quite get their game world all the time. So, for example, it turns out that you shouldn’t just go up to a bartender and ask if he has a quest for you. You also should be very careful about insulting the wife of a high-level wizard who happens to be drinking in the same bar as you.
The stories were all fun, and most of them are short enough for one sitting. After several books and short story collections, the gang feels like a lot of old friends, but some of the ancillary characters (the sister and her boyfriend, for example) have gotten lost along the way and I wouldn’t mind them reappearing in these short tales. I think the best think I can say about this collection is it has inspired me to go back and read the next book in the main series.
3d6 (Caverns and Creatures) is the 3rd of several collections of 6 mini adventures in the Critical Failures universe. It follows a group a friends who are locked in a role playing game called C & C and have to live the lives of the characters they drew up when they first began to play the game. To see how it all started, read the Novel Critical Failures I, II , III and maybe even d6 and 2d6 before jumping into this collection. Or just dive right in, it isn't exactly highbrow stuff here. If you do decide to dive in, just be careful where you land, chances are it will be pretty disgusting and you will have deep regrets and your friends will mock you. If you have already read some of Robert Bevan's earlier books or collections, 3d6 is more of the same kind of fun. Highly recommended if you like ridiculous humor , laugh out loud at running gags involving bodily functions or just appreciate new and inventive uses for a freshly summoned horse. 4/5
This is a collection of short stories based on the Caverns and Creatures world. In order to enjoy them you should first read at least the first Critical Failures book to understand the context.
Caverns and Creatures A parody of Dungeons and Dragons. The book follows a group of friends that have been 'sucked/transported' into the Caverns and Creatures world. Each short story is effectively a specific 'quest/dungeon'.
Crude Humour If you don't like your stories liberally sprinkled with swearing, banter, and crude jokes then this book is not for you.
Audio Version This book is the type that I think works very well in the audio version. I have listened to all the Caverns and Creatures on Audible and it helps make the story that much better.
Kindle Unlimited, the writer definitely isn't 'right' but he is on ku, a few binge readings were in my future.

Check with amazon to see if the 4 pack is still on sale, etc, I got it for 99, the 4 books listed above titled separately under the set. The smaller collections are listed on top of which this one is the 3rd collection {of 6 stories} with the titles listed for this and the others those since covering the mini collections here. I read the 4 pack, then the collections, in order, not totally sure it would matter with this genre, do suggest personally that the 4 set then the smaller collections be read in order, it did help in most cases.
Writer does list and say if you have the 3d6 {#3 collection} not need to re/read individual stories listed as are the same stories as in the collection. It's why I just got the sets and still my opinion to read in order and in sets which is easier anyway. Last checked the entire 6 set{s} was available on ku, so no need to pull up multiple books and no need to worry about order at all. Again, 3d6 (Caverns and Creatures collection 3) consists of House of Madness - Naga Please - Elf Inflicted - The Land Before Tim - A Fistful of Gold Pieces - The Minotard, and yes am enough of a geek to find those funny and with almost unlimited possibilities for subject matter.
C&C shorts are just the best bedtime stories. At the end of the day, there's nothing like curling up with a romp through the ridiculous and nonsensical fantasy world that this ridiculous and nonsensical band of bros find themselves inhabiting. In fact, it's such a part of my nightly wind-down, I wonder; If they ever go home again...how will I sleep? So I vote they stay put. Maybe I wouldn't walk away from Omelas after all... I might be a terrible person. *shrug*
Some of the funniest stories I have read for a long time. I really love this Caverns and Creatures series (Good old boys in wonderland) and these short stories are keeping me going while waiting on the next in the series. All these stories are non-pc but hilariously funny but the story 'Naga Please' just had me rolling on the floor. Cannot get enough of these books and recommend them to all y'all. If you find the Blue Collar Comedy guys funny you will love these books
I've held off on reading the main storylines because well- I try to be a politically correct person, and this series is NOT that. It's also not mean-spirited (except to the MCs, who are jerkasses themselves), and the premise is something I am in love with. So.. //makes seesaw motions
Anyway, I plan to read the short story collections, since that's what I'm interested in anyway.
A fairly easy read with tons of funny moments. The writing is definitely a lot better than some of the earlier works, I can definitely tell Bevan cuts straight to the point. My favorite story has to be the 'The Land Before Tim'. It is a very creative story with a beautiful twist at the end.
Entertaining stories, as one expects from Robert Bevan, but what pushes this collection over the top for me is Dave's monologue on the artist's need to be open to criticism in "The Minotard" (the final story in the book).
Short stories in the Critical Failures series, meant to be read in between the main books I think but are pretty cool out of order also. I have certainly enjoyed their many double entendres that make for some pretty good humour. The last book with the Minotaur was the funniest I think.
Another fun read all around. The party get themselves in a bunch of precarious situations and come. Out covered in carp in the end. Another fast paced fun read.
The full novels are hilarious and so are these short stories. The comedic timing of the characters is great in all the stories even when jokes or gags are recycled.
I started writing a review for this book, but then I realized I was becoming rather repetitive regarding my comments of this series, almost as repetitive as the author is with his jokes. I almost feel like I am beating a dead horse except the horse keeps disappearing the moment it expires.
This has been an enjoyable enough series that I read all three currently published books and all three currently published collections of short stories. Now we need to convince a couple of the characters in this series to start wearing diapers.
I enjoy these books. Lowbrow humor, really dumb people. It's a bit like watching the Three Stooges - but in book form.
The reader is excellent as well.
Personally, I'd like to see a TV show made about this. Have the start the same as the books but instead of going back to the real world so soon, their weekly adventures are things in the 'game land'. That would be nice.
For some reason, TV execs fail to contact me and ask for my thoughts on what they should throw money at. /sad
So yeah - read this book - after you've read the rest in order.
Funny, dear God funny. Nothing but a great blast. Comparing this collection of short stories to the actual going story, seems a bit unfair. Short story wise, Robert Bevan really seems to go right into comedy madness. Such a good time. On my way to work, I often listen to audiobooks. There were a few times that I almost had to pull over to the side of the road, gripping my side in laughter. From the narration, to the stories, and the unique characters this just hits comedy gold.
I can't recommend this enough. A great fun time. Get it.
