About the author
Cassie Eickhoff
1 book6 followersCassie Eickhoff is a Nebraska native and novelist who loves stories that move people—especially stories with strong women and unforgettable friendships. By day she teaches high school English and journalism. By night she writes stories about bold women fueled by caffeine, creativity, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting. She especially enjoys creating complicated, resilient characters who make life a little messy but incredibly meaningful.
She lives near Lincoln, NE with her husband and two sons. When she’s not writing or hustling between activities, she’s probably watching the WNBA, the Packers, or Husker sports with her laptop open, ready to capture her next book idea.
Cassie’s debut novel is Life after Eve.

This book hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting.
One of my favorite parts was the friendship. As someone who has a close friend living in another state, I really connected with the way the author portrayed the ups and downs of maintaining that bond. It felt genuine and emotionally relatable.
I also loved the hometown aspect of the story. Having moved back to my own hometown after being away for years, I found myself connecting deeply with those moments of returning to a place that feels both familiar and completely different at the same time.
The characters felt like real people, not just names on a page. Their growth and relationships kept me invested from start to finish. The pacing was also done really well—there was always something happening, but it never felt rushed.
✨ Relatable friendships
✨ Returning-to-your-roots vibes
✨ Well-developed characters
✨ Steady pacing
✨ Emotional and heartfelt moments
If you love stories about friendship, self-discovery, and finding your place after life takes you somewhere unexpected, definitely add this one to your TBR.

I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for choosing me.
Well written, executed with grace and beautifully handles the grief, the raw emotions and the friendship. This is a story that will stay with you, it will make you feel things whether you're ready to or not. It will probably break your heart a little (or a lot), but it will heal pieces of you along the way.

Raw, poignant, & transformative - Life After Eve is the gripping story of a woman piecing her life together after the death of her estranged mother. What begins as an exploration of grief gradually unfolds into a deeply moving reflection on addiction, identity, family trauma, abiding friendship, and the courage it takes to open one's heart to love again.
With remarkable realism & emotional insight, the author examines the lingering influence of childhood adversity while illuminating the unexpected ways healing can grow through human connection. The friendships at the heart of the novel are moments of needed levity - and restorative for Eve, reminding us as readers that the family we choose can be just as transformative as the one we're born into.
Beautifully written and emotionally resonant, Life After Eve is a novel that lingers well beyond its final pages. It is an eloquent reflection on loss and resilience, on the complexity of forgiveness, and on the possibility of beginning again even after life's deepest fractures.
I cannot wait to see what this author writes next.

Thank you to Cassie Eickhoff for a copy of Life After Eve. I don't give away any spoilers in my reviews.
Eve returns home after her mother passed away -a tough relationship between mother/daughter that Eve ran from 17 years earlier. Eve's mother neglected her as a child and Eve has created a life of success for herself.
I don't want to post what Eve discovers or how it affects her and spoil the story.
I did love the friendship between Eve and Mia as well as her friendship with Adam, her mother's attorney.
This is about forgiveness as well as grief and friendships. I did struggle at times and felt the book was too long, but that is a personal view.

Such a good book. I know of the authors family so I was excited to read her first book. I really enjoyed her little hints of her hometown, long johns from the bakery, the river that flows thru town and all the walking/biking trails. I’m a bookstore addict so I could picture hers. Loved the friendship of Eve and Mia and the love that kept growing between her and Adam. Thanks for such an intriguing book. I’ll be watching for more books to come from this author!

Fantastic book
I loved the Nebraska setting as her coming home. Fabulously written from start to ending. I would recommend to all readers, this book crosses over several genres with ease.

All you need..
This story has so much emotion put into it. The town, the people, the emotions, all put into a story that has such heartbreak but also healing. Great read!

Spoiled by excessive profanity
There is so much unnecessary profanity, sadly. It did not add to the storyline; just the opposite, in fact. Disappointing.

Very good story, but it dragged at time.
There were parts which weren’t very clear to me. And the editing could be better.
Also, I was confused by the ending. What happened next? Is this a HFN?

Ending was missing!!!
Really good read except the ending!
Why did the author refuse to complete the story? Perhaps a sequel will follow!
