Covering every step of the weaning journey, from six months to a year, The First Foods Book includes more than 130 recipes - from single-veg purees to exciting combinations and full meals. Every one has been rigorously tested to ensure it meets with Ella's Kitchen nutritional standards. There is also lots of practical advice to give every parent confidence at this key stage of their baby's development. Top tips and insider advice from nutritionists, baby experts and real mums, dads and carers make weaning easy and stress-free - introducing solids becomes as much of an adventure for parents as it is for the little one whose taste exploration has only just begun. Weekly meal planners show you just what to expect, and there is a pull-out chart included in the book that you can stick on your fridge or wall. The third in the hugely successful Ella's Kitchen Cook Book series, The First Foods Book brims with recipes guaranteed to set tiny taste buds alight. With every recipe specifically developed for its nutritional content, as well as for its yummy flavour, and with the Ella's Kitchen stamp of approval on every page, this is set to become every parent's must-have guide to weaning.
The book is laid out well and is bright with good pictures and illustrations through out. It supplies you with all the information you need but keeps it simple so you aren't overloaded. The recipes are simple but healthy. They are made with everyday ingredients that are easy to get and there is a wide selection of different recipes so whether you want baby to have a vegetable, meat or fish meal this book provides it all. The pull out weaning journey poster and baby's eating chart in the middle are a nice added extra.
I am about to begin the weaning journey and as I am not an expert in the kitchen and Ella's Kitchen book seemed like a child book I choose it to guide me through weaning. In the beginning I thought it would be confusing with all the colours e drawings... but at the end it is very easy to ready, to understand and to follow the steps. And you don't get bored at all... it is as day say... the main goal is to have fun with it... I am now more eager to start with the weaning than stressed about it.
Another potential use of this book is that it is very appealing for our children to look at, with all the colours e shapes... so I am actually seeing myself teaching my daughter, when the times comes, the colours and foods with this book.
This excellent guide for steps to weaning is filled with delicious looking food photography, recipes, hints and tips with careful consideration for age appropriate oral and motor skills. This book is packed with over 100 recipes for babies under 12 months and beyond and whilst they are easily adaptable we just wish there were slightly more vegetarian meals to suit our own family diet. Nonetheless, a great book which provides lots of inspiration for exciting first tastes.
Good general guide with some nice recipes for 6-12 months and ideas. I like the sound of a stick up list for trying new things, keeping a diary of milk time and food given (reviewing over week/month rather than per day) and changing the feeding environment to make feeding fun (high chair at table, outside, picnic indoors).
There simply aren’t enough “recipes” in here. There are though many pages explaining the whole weaning processes and almost as many that all tell you how to boil/steam a different vegetable before purring it. Not impressed.
First book about weaning and I really enjoyed it! Very easy to follow and will definitely be using it when we start! Added bonus that it came with a pull out to put on the fridge too.
Gift from a friend who had lived in the UK. This was published by a British department store's parent club and appears to be a useful guide to an introduction to solid foods. Looking forward to trying this when our baby is the right age!
