Il divoramento del tempo (Divisione attività soprannaturali Vol. 7)

Rate this book

So far I’ve enjoyed every book in this series, and I couldn’t wait to read this one. The story is intriguing: Wyatt Hood and Chloe Winters are sent to the Palakua atoll, where the U.S. government, together with native Hawaiian mages, watches over an anomaly that—if released—could alter time on a global scale.

The characters are now solid and intense after eight volumes. There’s some friction in their relationships, but it’s quickly absorbed by the plot, which accelerates and pulls everything into a growing sense of danger and chaos.

The novel is a fast paced military fantasy, packed with action, some brutal moments and several narrative twists that keep you glued to the pages.

In this volume Stacey often uses a particular cadence: short, impressionistic sentences that favor sensation over explanation. One example that stood out to me is:

“The ocean pressed against his consciousness like a second heartbeat. Not hostile. Not benevolent. Present.”

It’s a style I hadn’t noticed in previous books, but it works very well here, adding intensity to the scenes and showing clear growth in the series’ writing.

Even though it doesn’t advance the main arc involving the Transcendents or the search for the spheres, the book delivers dramatic events and developments that further deepen the characters.

Five fully deserved stars! I can't wait to read the next one.

SAD saves time?

I have enjoyed every one of the books in this series and this one is no exception. Wyatt Hood and Chloe Winters are sent to Palakua Atoll where the US government along with native Hawaiian mages have guarded against a darkness that could destroy time if it were released. Wyatt and Chloe are two of the most powerful SAD agents and mages the division has, but when one of the Hawaiian mages goes rogue and will kill to free the darkness he has helped keep contained for forty years.

As always, the characters are all intriguing, intense, and beautifully narrated. I love them all but was sad to see one of my favorites go. Which, since this is a book that has military themes as well as supernatural elements, I guess it is, or should be, expected. This is an action-packed fast-paced military fantasy with both magical and martial violence, lots of blood and gore, and enough unexpected twists in the plot that it was nearly impossible to put this book down. I highly recommend this fantastic book.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by the author.

The action is non-stop. When a facility that holds an anomaly that the US government has been hiding and securing is attacked, one of the guardians questions where they should allow the anomaly to be set free. It is called the Devourer of Time, but its very imprisonment is destroying the island it sits on. Wyatt and Chloe are called in to use their mage powers to ensure the containment is secure. But the guardian attacks and breaks the shackles that hold the entity from its prison. Battered and broken, Wyatt must channel his new aquatic powers to prevent disaster.

Stacey once again delivers a wild ride of military and sorcery action that is ever developing. This is a fantastic series.

Another excellent entry, can't say I was too sad to see Haley die as her character had become a little unlikeable, but it was still a very powerful emotional gutpunch. Wyatt and Chloe continue to have fantastic chemistry, I will always want to see more of them. Looking forward to the next book, hope book 8 has a bit more of a monster theme to it. I like the whole rogue Mage thing, but we've done it twice in a row now. I want werewolves or something next.

Chloe and Wyatt are back and this time they are setting off to Palakua Atoll where the government and Hawaiian mages have guarded against a darkness that could destroy time. One of the Hawaiian mages has decided that it time this powers was unleashed at any cost and Chloe and Wyatt must step in to stop this from happening. It’s a dark and gritty read, brimming with action, magic, blood and gore and has some unexpected twists and has you hooked from the get go.

Book did not contribute to the series

This book was kind of pointless. The only purpose was for Wyatt to learn some water skills and to remove Hailie from the series. It’s a filler book and I kind of hate filler books when the series seemed to be about to keep moving. The “entity” and all the sacrifices were pointless as it seemed it never needed to be caged anyway. All the infighting was pointless. The book just kind of seemed … pointless.

Exciting as always…what’s going to happen next?

As always, I can’t put down Mr. Stacey’s book. I literally devoured “Devouring of Time” and I am starving for the next installment of Wyatt and Chloe’s saga. It was exciting, totally entertaining. I love this series and just want more.

Excellent series!

I have thoroughly enjoyed these stories and I hope there will be more.
There are still several loose threads that need to be resolved, and I am hoping they will be soon.
If you enjoy military fantasy with slow burn romance, you will undoubtedly enjoy this series.
