Timothy Ellis lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia; where he constantly battles with his cat for possession of his desk chair, Daleks do guard duty, and he keeps his sonic screwdriver next to his lightsaber and wand. Now there is a female Doctor Who, he eagerly awaits the sound of the Tardis materializing in his house.

He has spent his life reading and watching science fiction and fantasy, and has been playing Space Genre computer games since he used to be smuggled in to play the original text Star Trek game on a university mainframe, long before the PC or Apple appeared. Since 2004, he's written game guides for the Egosoft X Universe series, culminating in two versions of the X3 Handbook. He has also designed major mods for the various games, and dozens of mini mods.

He has been a farm worker, Antique Dealer, Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst, Operations Manager of a small retail chain, and Retail Store Owner. He is now a full time author, who still does Spiritual Healer and helper work.

After leaving behind the corporate and business worlds, he was opened to his Spiritual gifts. Now a Feng Shui Master, Feng Shui led him to Buddhism, Karma, the Tao, and back to western spiritualism. Since 2006 he has been writing spiritual articles and helping people via spiritual forums and Facebook Groups. His spiritual books include "Personal Healing Using Basic Meditation", "Life Harmony, Feng Shui in Plain English", '101 Tips for the John of God Brazil Experience', and "The Wisdom of the Ages is available for the price of asking a question" series of 8 books. His own spiritual healing led him to writing novels.

His first novel, 'Hero at Large', spawning the long running 'The Hunter Imperium' universe, brings together his love of the space genre, magic, spirituality, and cats. I still enjoy Dennis and his no tact way of going about each day. At heart he's still the wallflower, on the outskirts of life, not wanting the public eye, yet stepping up to do what he can. He may want a quiet life but it's no longer available. We now have a clearer idea of why he doesn't want certain jobs, because he doesn't do management. Okay. It took 12 books for that to come up. I thought it was a moral issue about police work, of his part in breaking up families. Of unearthing bodies or the horrors of brutal murders. No. It's management. Well, yeah, he has others managing the station, but I thought of that in a different context than managing cold cases or the Wellness Center.

This deep in the series, I expected more growth from Dennis's fiance. (I paged thru old reviews and book blurbs searching for her name. No one mentions her, and I wasn't going to download another book just to find her name. What does it say about a character that no one names her in reviews? )

To date she's inserted to entertain with what she wears or doesn't wear. From stripping, skinny dipping, showering. and on to whatever her appetite desires. Oddly enough, Dennis is usually distracted, reading, and not attentive to her. Which is interesting because she tries too hard to 'keep her man.' There's not much about her personality, not until her so called joke at the bunny caper. Honestly. You would think she'd be reprimanded for what she did. As to what happened, Dennis was ready to give up his magic. If she wasn't there witnessing that thought he voiced, he could've gone thru with it. Let that sink in. What if he returned after a jump with no magic and she says, "April Fools?" With the way she's portrayed, I bet she'd dump him like a hot potato when he can't magic up her every little whim. She is a shallow character. Entertainment. Steven is a stronger built character than her.

I still wonder about the seer note of '266' and 'goose.' Was it the time of the tornados and 'duck duck goose' as a reference? There was no explanation or context. And what's with Dennis branching into seer magic?

Thank you for continuing the series

I was worried this would be the last book in the series. It would have been fine, but I am glad it is not.

As usual, good book. The start was interesting because we were watching a battle from Dennis' point of view. You could not get more 'i don't care' than that. The relationship stuff is interesting mostly because we don't see where the info takes Steven. I would never consider Dennis a matchmaker, but he had good ideas for followup. Still, interesting I love the way characters are developing as we watch. I felt there should have been more serious talk about the consequences that could have happened due to the April fools joke. I thought Bud had the right reaction. I love that Dennis cares about the people who are worthy and needing a hand. I like that we see at least 1 in each book. And he does jobs that others just will not do. I am sure no one but the recipient notices. Good karma there.
About the next book, I am very excited! It makes me think about all those cozy farming games. Think Stardew Valley. I hope the farming, no matter how big or small, helps Dennis relax.

Easter Mage is another book in this series, and while it was pretty good, there wasn't nearly as much of the main character doing main character things as there was in other books. And by that I mean, inventing ways to do things on the fly, amazing himself and others with the things he can do, and so on. There was some of that, but in other books, it was throughout the whole book, in this installment, it was in only a few chapters. Most likely this book acted as a building up to other things book, so we'll see how it goes, since there's still a few books in this series I have yet to read. But nonetheless, my point of view not withstanding, the story is a decent one, and definitely fits in with the overall story arc, so don't let my assessment prevent you from enjoying the story.

My favorite author!

Again Mage Block does the magic the universe requires in spite of its politicians being self righteous. Telling it how it is, the Mage Block way. He points out that politicians have agenda’s that don’t coincide with immediate needs of their constituents. Each book has been a joy to read! I’m looking forward to the next with eternal gratitude I found my favorite AUTHOR!

Dennis Block speaks truth to stupid

Dennis Block becomes a mage at 69 years old with no ability to do magic before that. Because he’s been a jack of all trades, he is able to use his magical ability to do practical things. Unfortunately, for him people keep thinking of new ways to use his magic. I cannot recommend this series enough.

it's probably good that I was forcibly retired awhile back and didn't have to work today. I suppose I could've always taken a sicky because stopping reading this book when I started it at around 7:30 this morning would've been very difficult.

Another truly great story!

Master block is at it again this time, solving (sorta) major political problems, kind of against his will but for the betterment of all.
