Don't really like the kindle layout. That definitely needs improving. Now for the book. "It is simply what you are, at the level below performance." That speaks volumes in itself Its sad the the mostly humans chose to control rather than to lift up. But that is the way of the world. It definitely a different layout for me. The way it describes the character prior to the prologue. "In the way that" "specific" "simply " "quality" "certain" "not...but..." way too many times. Making it feel very repetitive. Its a really good premise and story. Like its a amazing start but needs work. It has potential but it not there yet. Im not sure it it was completely written by ai or over edited or assisted by ai. But the further you get into thr book the worse it gets. There are unfinished sections. And even direction of how to edit.
The story takes place in the world of Anthony. The empire has realized that every living thing has a resonance or frequency. They have determined that humans with frequencies over a certain level are more likely to be disruptive. Their answer to this is to have government agents known as Suppressors reduce these frequencies. The Sorath believe that these frequencies should be amplified and those that do this are called Sorath Keepers. The empire has developed a device that will suppress 11 settlements arbitrarily and permanently. Karl Voss, a Suppressor and Ravan, a keeper come together through unexpected incidents and band together to disable the device. Can’t wait for Book 2!
From the very start you are introduced to a range of interesting characters. Each with their own special resonance. You have Coval, Ravan and Kael as some of the main characters, each with an important role. There is mystery, a slow burn romance and also a bit of the districts from Hunger Games vibes.
The author does a good job of setting the scenes, world building, so I could really picture it.
This is a great start to this series and has so much potential! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
