I think I can wear a shirt—or have a plane write across the sky—that says Nilufer’s favorite vice is enemies-to-lovers romance. Okay, fine, Chardonnay and Van Leeuwen ice cream are competing for second place, but give me two people who supposedly can’t stand each other, throw them into forced proximity, add some sexual tension and sarcastic banter, and I’m already seated. I’ll even watch it in a foreign language without subtitles. I’m that committed to the cause!
So naturally, this book felt like it was personally designed to tempt me.
We have legal battles, workplace rivalry, fake dating, a second-chance-ish love triangle, an infuriatingly charismatic male lead, and enough chemistry to set the courtroom on fire. Sign me up!
Ivy Isley is exactly the kind of heroine I like rooting for. She’s ambitious, smart, determined to prove herself in a male-dominated law firm, and carrying enough emotional baggage from her past to fill an entire courtroom. Her new case gives her exactly the opportunity she has been waiting for: taking on a dating app accused of exploiting users’ private information. And the case isn’t just about corporate wrongdoing—it has some genuinely heartbreaking human consequences, including the story of a woman whose personal information being exposed puts her in terrifying danger.
Then there’s Miles Montrose.
Oh, Miles.
This man walks into the story carrying enough arrogance, sarcasm, confidence, and daddy issues to qualify as his own legal exhibit. I’m not diagnosing him with anything because apparently I’m not qualified to do that, but let’s just say he has intense tendencies. Think a slightly lower-budget Christian Grey without the red room, less BDSM, and somehow an even more complicated family situation. 😂 He’s infuriating, controlling, clever, protective, and ridiculously charismatic—and underneath all that assholery, there is actually a man who genuinely cares about justice and Ivy.
Also, Miles calling her “blondie” from the beginning? Sir. We need to discuss your vocabulary choices.
And yes, Spencer is technically the other romantic option, but honestly? Please. He left Ivy without explanation, moved on, and then has the audacity to act jealous when she starts getting close to Miles. He was fighting a losing battle before he even entered the courtroom. At one point, he calls Ivy pathetic, and I immediately wanted to file a restraining order against his romantic ambitions. 😂
But the real reason this romance works is Ivy and Miles together.
The chemistry is ridiculously palpable. Their arguments have sparks, their fake relationship has even more sparks, and their late-night case preparation somehow manages to make legal research feel dangerously sexy. The fake-dating setup gives us plenty of delicious moments, and I absolutely enjoyed watching their professional rivalry slowly turn into something neither of them can quite control.
I also liked that their emotional baggage wasn't simply there as decoration. Ivy's abandonment wounds and Miles's complicated relationship with his family give their attraction some emotional weight. Underneath the banter and flirting, both of them are trying to figure out whether they can actually trust someone enough to let that person stay.
My only hesitation was that there is almost too much happening at once. We have the class-action lawsuit, workplace politics, the ex-boyfriend drama, fake dating, family issues, emotional baggage, romantic misunderstandings, and several other moving pieces. I found myself wishing the story had been trimmed by maybe 30–50 pages so we could get to the heart of the romance and legal conflict a little faster. By the time we reached the big revelations and anticipated grand gesture, I wanted to be completely swept off my feet, but the buildup had taken a little of the wind out of my sails.
And here's my biggest enemies-to-lovers complaint: I wanted MORE enemies!
Because once Ivy and Miles become partners on the case, the relationship moves relatively quickly from workplace rivals into friends-to-lovers territory, with fake dating doing most of the heavy lifting. And listen, I love fake dating too, but give me more HATE first! Let them verbally destroy each other before they start looking at each other like dessert. 😂 Hate is the seasoning. You can't rush the seasoning!
Still, I had a genuinely fun time with this one. The legal drama gives the rom-com enough substance to keep it from feeling fluffy, while the romance provides plenty of warmth, banter, and swoony moments. I loved most of the characters, absolutely rooted for Ivy and Miles, and enjoyed watching their relationship evolve even when I occasionally wanted to shake both of them.
I’m rounding 3.5 stars up to 4 because, despite my pacing complaints, this was exactly the kind of entertaining, trope-loaded, joyful reading experience I needed. And honestly, when a book gives me enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, workplace tension, legal drama, a gorgeous arrogant man with emotional damage, and chemistry that practically needs its own courtroom warning label, I’m going to forgive a few things. ❤️⚖️

The second I saw this book on netgalley, I had to request it. And I was ready to sue if I didn’t get approved. Lawyer romance, enemies to lovers, fake dating. Literally what more could a girl ask for?
And when Ivy got on Netflix and pulled up 27 DRESSES, I audibly squealed. Okay, no I didn’t, because I was sitting in my car in a populated parking lot. But internally, I was all high-pitched shrieks and kicking feet, trust. And naturally, my roommate and I rewatched the best romcom ever the moment we got home.
AND THEN THEY PULLED OUT TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. It was perfect. Miles asking Ivy what ten things she hates about him then concluding her list when she pauses by quoting the movie? Absolute cinema. (Is this a book review or a chance for me to gush about all my favorite romcoms? I don’t know, but I blame Letizia Lorini. Anyway, guess what I’m watching as I write this review. Bet you can’t ☺️)
Anyway, the romance was so good.
I need more Ivy and Miles in my life. We need a book two of nothing but their mundane married life. No conflict, full romance. I won’t be bored for a second.
Him watching romcoms for her? The way he stormed into the hospital when she hit her head? The Notting Hill inspired reporter scene at the end? (By the way I watched Notting Hill for this book because I knew that scene was coming and wanted to enjoy it in its full glory. Can’t say I paid attention to any scene but the reporter one, to be completely honest). The proposal scene with the messages on the cardboard? Trust that I ate up every single moment. Gleefully.
Also, I loved the Rom-com Code §… at the top of every chapter. Great touch, truly.
I liked that this book dealt with workplace misogyny without shying away from the subject. I absolutely loved the moment when Ivy finally stood up for herself—directly, without mincing words—and quit. But come on, the love interest isn’t supposed to contribute to the subtle misogyny. And at the beginning of this book, he certainly was. Calling her blonde at work, telling her to wear the red lipstick, calling her very valid reaction to his ambush a tantrum? I wasn’t a fan. She confronted him about these things though, to my delight, and he won me over pretty quickly.
As a law student who was drowning in battery cases in Torts up until a week ago, I did have the obligatory “THAT’S BATTERY, NOT ASSAULT” reaction when Spencer said Miles would catch an assault charge if he beat Spencer’s ass. But if that’s my biggest complaint about this book, I’m happy.
On that note, did I love that they’re on chummy terms with Spencer in the epilogue three years later? No. He didn’t deserve that mini redemption at all.
I yapped so much in this review, so I’m going to end it here by saying that upon finishing this book, I am having withdrawals. WITHDRAWALS. We desperately need more lawyer romances because what could POSSIBLY fill this void? NOTHING.

Who would've thought the law could be so romantic? And hot and curl-my-toes giddy and fun and wait, did I say hot? Just had to double check because these workplace rivals had me fanning myself. Throw in a high-stakes case, excellent bickering, a woman who doesn’t harden but plays into her strengths in a male-dominated environment, a love interest who loves her beautiful brain, and the ruling is clear: this is the office romance of my dreams.

**Changed my star rating from 4 to 5 stars after thinking about this book all day and realizing I read it in one sitting!!
This book gave enemies to lovers a good name. MANY tropes are included and done to perfection.
I could have done without soooo much back and forth and emotional withdrawals but the author does a great job of really laying out the damage done to these characters.
I loved the office/lawyer backdrop and want more from this author!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I have been yearning for a solid rom com contemporary romance for SO long and the universe finally delivered. This is my favorite contemporary romance of the year! Everything about this story was so cute and heartfelt, plus the spice was SPICY! My only one complaint is the chapter titles are way too spoilery 😭 at first I found them so cute and creative, but when the plot was in full swing they started feeling like single sentence summaries of the chapters.
Must go explore more of Letizia’s work NOW!

This was legal rom com perfection. Like if Suits was a rom com book with characters with waaaayyyy better chemistry. As a practicing litigator I'm genuinely floored with how accurate the legalese, court room drama and even law school & law firm world building was. The 3rd Act romance had me full on sobbing and then kicking my feet

Workplace enemies-to-lovers, witty banter, fake dating, ambitious lawyers, and a man in a well-tailored suit who falls HARD? SAY LESS.
I loved Ivy and Miles. Their chemistry, rivalry, and constant back-and-forth were so entertaining, but I especially loved watching their relationship develop into something more genuine and vulnerable. Miles Montrose, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!! I love a man who’s absolutely down bad.
Ivy was such a fun FMC, too. I loved her humor, ambition, and stubbornness (even when she frustrated me lol). Loved the exploration of family expectations, career pressures, and learning to choose what you actually want for yourself.
The chemistry was CHEMISTRY-ING! The rom-com movie references—LOVED those moments and how they tied into the grand gestures.
I did have a few minor gripes with the miscommunication and the chapter introductions, which sometimes felt unnecessary or a little spoilery.
But I genuinely loved this book. It was funny, romantic, steamy, and full of heart. The epilogue from Miles’s POV was the perfect cherry on top

Loved this one!! As a long time fan of law, the book topic drew me in. But, the STORY was so good. It had Suits vibes. I loved the normal tropes: fake dating, enemies to lovers…. But, the pull on my heart from those affected by the class action lawsuit was so intense!
Ivy Isley and Miles Montrose (hello alliteration and banter!) attended law school together and ended up at the same firm. While Miles was favored due to nepotism and sexism, Ivy was passed over multiple times for promotions. Miles convinces her to take on a huge corporate case with him (while fake dating to make her long time ex jealous). It has all the cutesy romance, but also depth. Ivy comes from borderline emotionally abusive parents and the topics for the lawsuit are intense. Once I really got through the introduction of the book, I devoured it! I did NOT expect to love this one as much as I did, but I can safely say it’s making my TOP 10. Like, have I been sleeping on Letizia Lorini?! Because my eyes are WIDE OPEN now, and I am READY. 👏🏻 Letizia, babes, PLEASE keep writing and NEVER STOP.
Ivy is trying to make it in a male-dominated world, and as a lawyer, she’s been shoved into a position that feels like the leftovers nobody else wanted. But Ivy knows she’s meant for more. She wants to fight for the people who need someone in their corner, just not in family law. So when she gets the chance to join a team working on a case bigger than anything she imagined, she’s all in. The catch? She has to work with Miles, one of the firm’s leading lawyers AND a guy she went to college with. Oh, and he brought her onto the case to distract opposing counsel… who just happens to be her ex. 👀
I was SOLD the second this plot started setting itself up. I metaphorically SPRINTED to the pool and dove in headfirst. 😂
HOT DAMN. WE ALL NEED A MILES IN OUR LIVES. And honestly, I need him in approximately ten more books, too. This man is officially one of my favorite MMCs in a LONG time. He’s smart, funny, kind, and dare I say… a feminist?! He brings Ivy onto the case under a facade, but he NEVER lets her take a backseat or get pushed out. He gives her a platform, trusts her to do her thing, and lets her FLY. LIKE, COME ON, LADIES. I HAVE A CRUSH AND I AM NOT KEEPING IT TO MYSELF.

This book was such a treat! I absolutely loved the banter between Ivy & Miles… and I also loved their chemistry. 🩷 This was a super cute fake dating scenario that I don’t think was meant to be fake at all! I am pretty sure my man Miles had it bad from the get go. I really loved Ivy’s inner dialogue, it had me cracking up at times! I absolutely loved the end of this book! I did not realize how early I was posting this review! A really fun and solid romance between two lawyers who collaborate on a case after hating each other since law school. I loved the characters and Ivy's voice, which really propels the book. There were a few things that bothered me in the plot/pacing that didn't feel right for the book, but not every reader will feel that way, so I definitely suggest giving it a read when it comes out next year!

Oh my gosh, I loved this book! Suits is one of my favourite TV shows and this is Suits plus romance and it was incredibleeeeeeee. Miles is basically Harvey Specter and you will not convince me otherwise.
The fake dating trope was a-plus, the chemistry between Miles and Ivy was off the charts, and it gave me that lovely warm squishy feeling you get when you read a really good romance novel.
Ivy was so kickass. I loved her. She’s in a male dominated world, treated like dirt most of the time and I liked that she was unafraid to stick up for herself. I wish I was more like that, but alas I am a scaredy-cat.
This book was incredibly spicy 🥵 🌶️ but also tender and warm and sweet and sad and it featured references to a lot of my favourite rom-coms.
The class action lawsuit was heartbreaking - apps probably do stuff like this all the time and I was cheering for Ivy and Miles to take Korsen to task, along with Ivy’s odious ex-boyfriend Spencer 🤮

I also liked how their law case added a layer of emotional depth to the characters, and Lorini did a lovely job balancing the real themes of misogyny in the workplace with flirty fun. That said, it is a pretty surface level read, which was exactly what I was in the mood for. I do wish they were enemies a little longer….. he’s just smitten early on. Can’t wait to see what Lorini writes next!

I basically sacrificed my entire day to this book, and I have zero regrets.
I started Enemies to Lawyers expecting a fun enemies-to-lovers romance with two lawyers, and instead I ended up sitting on my couch reading almost the entire book because I genuinely could not make myself put it down. And when I finally got to the end, I didn’t even want it to be over.
Ivy and Miles were EVERYTHING.
Enemies to lovers is already one of my favorite tropes, but give me two incredibly smart, competitive lawyers who can actually keep up with each other? Yeah, I was sold.
The banter was probably my favorite part of their relationship. They were constantly going back and forth, challenging each other and being just arrogant enough to make their dynamic ridiculously entertaining. But underneath all of that was so much tension that I completely bought into their relationship long before anything actually happened between them.
And this is a SLOW burn. I specifically remember looking down at my Kindle and realizing I was around 67% into the book before we finally got somewhere 😂 But the payoff??? WORTH. IT.
The fake dating also worked so well for me. It didn’t feel like a trope that was thrown in just because the author wanted fake dating. It actually made sense within the story, especially with Ivy’s ex being on the opposing side of their case. And watching that fake relationship slowly blur into something very much not fake was exactly the kind of shit I eat up.
What surprised me was how much substance there was underneath all the flirting and tension, though.
I really loved Ivy. She’s ambitious, smart, and determined to build the career she wants, but she’s also working in an environment where she’s constantly dealing with sexism and being treated differently from the men around her. I loved that the book actually acknowledged that instead of pretending everyone in the workplace was operating on an equal playing field. And I especially loved that Miles actually listened to her.
Seeing Ivy slowly realize that the arrogant man she’d made up her mind about years ago wasn’t necessarily the person she thought he was was one of my favorite parts of their relationship. He paid attention to her. He made her feel seen. He watched her favorite rom-coms (even without her!!!) and all of those little moments completely sold me on why these two belonged together.
The 10 Things I Hate About You reference also had me completely gone. Oh and the spice absolutely delivered after making me wait that long 😂
Even the late-book relationship conflict, which is normally where romance books start testing my patience, didn’t bother me because it was resolved SO quickly. There was no dragging things out for another 100 pages just for the sake of angst. Thank you!!!
My only tiny hesitation came toward the epilogue with Ivy’s career decision. Because so much of her story was about fighting for her ambitions and refusing to make herself smaller, part of me initially wondered whether her choice contradicted some of that growth. But I also understood what the book was saying: choosing ambition doesn’t necessarily mean choosing the biggest job, longest hours, or most impressive title at the expense of everything else. And importantly, Miles was willing to make the sacrifice for her, too.
Ultimately, I just completely bought Ivy and Miles as a couple. Their chemistry, the banter, the tension, the romance, the courtroom storyline, the writing, it all worked for me. Nothing felt like filler. I was never bored. I never hit a section where I wondered why it was there.
I just wanted to keep reading.

Ivy essentially inherited this "enemy" status strictly by extension through her ex. Fast-forward five years post-breakup, and her ex's rival insists on making her his co-counsel, setting off a chaotic fake-dating arrangement.
It had the potential to be a five-star read, but parts of it gave me an ick right from the start. The author mentions in the note before the book and the acknowledgments after about Ivy being a character who refuses to make herself small so others can feel comfortable; however, she spends more than half the book doing exactly that for both her ex and her new co-counsel.
Even if Ivy eventually goes along with it, early moves from the love interest feel far more like a mild bully romance or workplace sexual harassment than a traditional rom-com. Showing up, declaring they are co-counsel, demanding a fake relationship, setting up a publicized kiss without her consent, and routinely dictating physical interactions without asking permission goes way beyond playful banter—it crosses legal and ethical boundaries, regardless of romance tropes.
I had to constantly force my brain to ignore those massive red flags to enjoy the story for what it was: fictional romance. Still, it is hard to take the book's political stance against workplace sexism seriously when the love interest is allowed to play by the exact same toxic rules as the ex. Why does he get a free pass while we are supposed to hate the ex for identical behavior?
Content-wise, this sits just above an R rating and lightly moves into low NC-17 territory. It is a bit too explicitly detailed for an R-rated movie, but it is certainly not full triple-X or erotica. Beyond the romantic dynamic, there is a civil lawsuit involved, which accounts for most of the trigger warnings (all past events, none descriptive).
Ultimately, this story had a really good foundation and plenty of funny moments, but because of the questionable consent dynamics, it knocks it out of five-star territory for me. If you enjoy a mild bully romance dynamic, can ignore the boundary issues, and can turn off your critical thinking, it is a solid 4-star read.
Recommend to others: Yes, I think most people can get down with this one, as long as they are fans of R and NC-17 romance tropes.

Ok, I guess this is just another way of telling you that I absolutely LOVED everything about Enemies To Lawyers! Now, let me delve into details:
- Miles Montrose (the MMC) is smug, charming, bold, cunning, and elegant. I fell for him the moment he entered the scene. To those who read Letizia Lorini's backlist I say that Montrose inherited Shane Hassholm's grumpiness and Ian Roberts' quick comebacks. Yep, Miles Montrose is the perfect book boyfriend. I'm sure he'll steal your heart (and probably your panties too... since that's his kink 🤭)!
- Ivy Isley (the FMC) is my heroine. She is witty, fun, brave, and a true badass. I wanna be her when I grow up!
- The romance: Together, Miles and Ivy make the most bickering and sweetest couple ever. Seriously, both their banter as enemies and their swoony moments as lovers were so well written! One moment I was like: "come on, just be together already!" while the next I was like "no, please, keep arguing a little bit more, this is way too entertaining!". For real, I was having so much fun watching them bickering, and at the same time I had heart shaped eyes and I was a goner for them as a couple. The fake dating trope has always been an absolute favorite of mine, and Letizia executed it perfectly! Mark my words: this book is so good and romantic that it will have you tear up over a cactus and cry over rubber ducks. That’s all I'm gonna say. Read the book and find out more. You won’t regret it.
- The spice: What is it they say? "The anticipation of pleasure is itself a pleasure". Well, whoever said it clearly read this book. The "pretend" steamy scenes were equally hot or even hotter than the actual spicy scenes! I mean, the milder steamy scenes had me so hot and bothered that I was afraid I couldn’t survive the spicier ones. But I held on like a true romance reader and I devoured them. Boooy they were absolute perfection!
- Enemies To Lawyers is an ode to women. This book whispers to all the women out there "I see you, I'm proud of you, keep fighting your battle!". Enemies To Lawyers feels like a real shot of courage.
- The third act breakup in this book is so important, necessary and poignant. You don’t like third act breakups? Well, then you've probably never read such masterpieces like Letizia Lorini's.
- Enemies To Lawyers is a love letter to rom-coms. This book will make you fall in love with your favorite romance movies once again and will make you want to rewatch them for the billionth time.
- The acknowledgments. It’s the first time I include acknowledgments in a review as something I love about the book. But it had to be done. I beg you to read Enemies To Lawyers' acknowledgments in order to understand how precious Letizia and her books are.

For real, I was having so much fun watching them bickering, and at the same time I had heart shaped eyes and I was a goner for them as a couple. The fake dating trope has always been an absolute favorite of mine, and Letizia executed it perfectly! Mark my words: this book is so good and romantic that it will have you tear up over a cactus and cry over rubber ducks. That’s all I'm gonna say. Read the book and find out more. You won’t regret it.
- The spice: What is it they say? "The anticipation of pleasure is itself a pleasure". Well, whoever said it clearly read this book. The "pretend" steamy scenes were equally hot or even hotter than the actual spicy scenes! I mean, the milder steamy scenes had me so hot and bothered that I was afraid I couldn’t survive the spicier ones. But I held on like a true romance reader and I devoured them. Boooy they were absolute perfection!
- Enemies To Lawyers is an ode to women. This book whispers to all the women out there "I see you, I'm proud of you, keep fighting your battle!". Enemies To Lawyers feels like a real shot of courage.
- The third act breakup in this book is so important, necessary and poignant. You don’t like third act breakups? Well, then you've probably never read such masterpieces like Letizia Lorini's.
- Enemies To Lawyers is a love letter to rom-coms. This book will make you fall in love with your favorite romance movies once again and will make you want to rewatch them for the billionth time.
- The acknowledgments. It’s the first time I include acknowledgments in a review as something I love about the book. But it had to be done. I beg you to read Enemies To Lawyers' acknowledgments in order to understand how precious Letizia and her books are.

Enemies to Lawyers was an absolute binge-worthy read, I genuinely did not want to put it down, and I loved both Milo and Ivy so much! Overall, this book gave me everything I look for in a top-tier romance: sharp banter, sizzling chemistry, deep character development, and a slow burn that pays off in the best way.
Milo and Ivy are both lawyers who went to law school together and rivals who work at the same firm. He handles civil cases, while she handles divorce cases. When Milo asks Ivy to be his co-counsel on a massive lawsuit against a company called Korsen, Ivy reluctantly agrees. The catch? Her ex-boyfriend - who also happens to be Milo’s old law school rival - is opposing counsel, leading them to fake-date to throw him off.
Technically, Ivy only ever considered Milo her rival because her ex hated him, but their workplace dynamic is hilarious. Their banter is top-tier right from the start and stays consistent throughout the whole book. I loved that Ivy always stood her ground; Milo can be a total arrogant asshole at times, which made her putting him in his place so incredibly satisfying. In the beginning, there were definitely moments where I wanted to punch him, but as the story unfolded, he completely won me over by showing his true, caring heart underneath all that armor.
One of my favorite highlights was watching their perception of each other shift. Watching Ivy gradually realize who Milo really was, while Milo learned more about her personally and professionally, was so heartwarming. I completely melted when he watched her favorite movies - it was so obvious he was down bad for her! (And my suspicion that he’s had feelings for her since their law school days turned out to be totally right!).
The case itself was so easy to follow - no confusion or complicated distractions, just pure, engaging plot. Even though it’s a slow burn, the tension and chemistry between them were built so masterfully that when they finally came together, the romance felt completely earned through their deep emotional connection.
I love this book so much, and I am so excited for Enemies to Lawyers to officially release next year! I cannot wait to read more from Letizia Lorini!

Enemies to Lawyers is one of those books that keeps you up way past a bedtime. The writing easily slides you in, and no amount of self-control showed up so I could let it pause. There are layers, there is depth, there are places that I laughed, and places that I cried, compassion, humanity, finding a voice, this book packs it all in there in a cohesive way. Miles knows who he is – a no-nonsense, no excuses, do it all costs attorney who doesn't apologize for being who he is. Even with all that, Ivy draws out pieces of him that takes his character to an incredible level. Ivy is also no-nonsense, smart, down-to-earth, but as it goes in a male dominated world with a over-reaching mother, she’s trying to find the best ways to use her voice, find out how far she can stretch before someone tries to push her back down. She has a dog named Greg – does anything more really need to be said? The chemistry between the two was a crazy delight – they could reach out and find each other in any room, any space. There was the spice, but what I really appreciated was the way Ivy and Miles grew as individuals and as a couple.
This story brought in so much more though. The way that corporations corrupt the space around them, the way that they will push and stomp on the every day people. So many stories were pulled in to show the consequences of a company accused of selling off data – for the wrong reasons. It showed humanity within the space of lawyers, courtrooms, and judges.
Enemies to Lawyers will be on the list of my top reads, and Letizia Lorini has become a must-buy author. Where does one go after a book hangover like this?

It felt like Ali Hazelwood energy but with a sharper twist, deeper emotional stakes, and characters who felt so real I wanted to reach into the book and shake them, hug them, or force them to kiss depending on the chapter.

I ate this book up. I started Enemies to Lawyers a few days ago and immediately needed more of Ivy Isley and Miles Montrose. Their banter alone had me not wanting to put the book down. One thing about Letizia Lorini is - she knows how to build up that slow burn. I was always rooting for Ivy and Miles not just to win the legal case but to also finally find a way to share how they truly feel for one another. And Miles...gah Miles. Miles was such a golden retriever even though he appeared so tough. My favorite parts of the book were when both of them let their guards down with one another...I was swooning so hard.
I loved the underlying message in Enemies to Lawyers - fight for what you believe in, even if it's hard. Especially if it's hard. Ivy never had luck on her side in this book, but she didn't give up. And she made it known to those that depended on her that she wouldn't leave and that she was there for the long haul.
Overall, a great enemies to lovers romance!

Something about the trendy pink cover and the idea of a rom-com with lawyers attracted me to this book on a whim. It ended up being such a fun book-- with characters who had so many more layers than I expected-- that I couldn't put it down.
I am not a fan of forced proximity books, and this one does have elements of forced proximity, but the fake dating trope can be amusing. I love that the main female character, Ivy, a lawyer, chooses to enter into the forced proximity/fake dating scenario at first to improve her career, but very quickly it becomes a chance to remember who she is and make a difference in the world. She's quick to put Miles, her partner in their class action lawsuit, in his place (and she's also very quick to conclusions in a very human way). As Ivy and Miles fall in love, Ivy struggles to understand her emotions, and Miles, as presented through Ivy's eyes, is slowly morphing into a decent human being instead of a jerk. And the signs were there that he was a decent person all along.
The fake dating plot involves Ivy's ex, another lawyer, who adds emotional confusion to the plot. His presence definitely makes the novel more entertaining, and in the end, it is his existence in the story that helps Ivy grow. But the truly great part of the book is that Ivy and Miles make each other better people.
I would have given it five stars, which I rarely do, but I HATE the last chapter of the book. The entire book is in first person from Ivy's point of view and the last chapter presents Miles' perspective or so it seems... This is the same think I hate about the Fourth Wing series, the end of book perspective switch. And in this book, this last chapter goes back and forth between the two main characters and it really doesn't add anything to the story. I think the ping-pong attempt at a resolution that serves everyone's career goals is not needed and muddies the storyline.

It is very rare that I finish a book thinking I could easy devour 100 more pages if I had them, but Enemies to Lawyers is that girl. It feels hard to put into words exactly how much I loved this story. This was easily my most highlighted book I've ever read. At it's core, this is everything you could ask for in a romcom but it's so much more than that. The best way to describe it, is this story feels important.
The focus not only on how Ivy was treated in her male dominated space and how she handled it but also on the class action case. The absolute horrible reality that so many people's lives get destroyed by these big corporations, not treating them like humans and rarely getting justice? The way the lawyers representing these corporations talk about real people like nothing and knowing their lives are destroyed and they don't even care? This happens in real life all of the time. I thought Letizia Lorini beautifully captured the heartbreaking reality of these cases. In this story we get a HEA for these victims, but so many are never that lucky.
As for the romance, I ate up every single thing about Ivy and Miles. Their banter, their chemistry, how they supported and championed each other. The way Miles was CLEARLY in love with Ivy at first sight and essentially made it everyone else's problem when he found out she was off limits. I loved how petty Miles was wanting to flaunt their fake relationship in front of her ex the way he had to watch them together for so many years. To be able to see him yearning and see his cracks in his asshole armor when the story wasn't in his POV was so delicious. I was giggling, kicking my feet and screaming at my kindle for them to "JUST SAY IT ALREADY" This is a slow burn but when we get there it is soft and emotional and extremely sexy.
This is my first read by this author but I cannot wait to dive into all of her stories.

First, I love the cover! It’s so cute. My toxic book trait is that I am 100% swayed by the cover art. Second, I adored this book! Letizia Lorini’s writing is so easy to read. I almost got annoyed that I had to put it down (because you know, life) because I wanted to keep reading until I was done with the book. This is going to be one of my new comfort reads.
There's so much about the characters or scenes that could fall flat and into overdone cliche territory - a heroine who is everything (whip smart, beautiful, empathetic), fighting an uphill battle at a misogynistic workplace, oblivious that the handsome, arrogant, rich guy who riles her up has yearned for her for years. But the writing is lovely, and it just makes this book into something cozy instead. Ivy, sharp and principled and loyal, is amazing. And Miles! I am loving getting to read so many yearning heroes. I love how much he truly sees Ivy - the impact of her mom's cutting words, her ducks, facilitating what she needs so that she can be her best self.
And it’s not just that the romance is cute, it’s how hopeful this book is. It’s a love letter to the romcom genre, the pink and the fluttery feelings, celebrating joy and softness and hope. The author's dedication and acknowledgements sections are wonderful. The only negative feelings I had about this book were intentionally there. Because ugh, Ivy's mom SUCKS. I love a good good enemies to lovers story and this one did not disappoint! The lawyer/case made it interesting and is definitely not like anything I've read. I highly recommend this book!

Overall, it's a great book. The plot/premise is a unique take on fake-dating that I enjoyed, the tension was crazy, the side characters were great, and I love a good jealousy storyline.

They’re both ridiculously smart, competitive, and stubborn, and watching them challenge each other while slowly falling for each other??? I was grinning like an idiot 24/7. And the fake dating??! SO GOOD. The tension, the flirting, the banter?? I was FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE. And when the spice finally hit? WORTH. EVERY. SECOND. 🥵🔥

The legal storyline had me HOOKED, but the emotional depth? I WAS NOT READY. 😭 I went from laughing at their bickering to kicking my feet and SOBBING over these two idiots. And that third act?! THE YEARNING, THE TENDERNESS, THE WAY THEY SEE EACH OTHER. I’m unwell. Absolutely, completely UNWELL. ❤️🔥
Suits meets rom-com perfection and I AM OBSESSED. 😭❤️🔥 The tropes, the banter, the slow burn, the spice, THE MAN BEING DOWN BAD FOR HER?! I ATE THIS UP. Miles and Ivy own my brain, and honestly, I don’t want it back. This book reminded me EXACTLY why I’m so feral for romance. FUNNY, SWOONY, SPICY, AND SO DAMN GOOD. I’M UNWELL💘📚
