I figured this bio was looking a little cobwebby, so here to update it a bit (January 2026). What's changed in the decade since I wrote my initial bio? Mmmm, not a lot. I still enjoy bubblebaths, strong coffee and passionate conversations, moonlit walks on the beach, eldritch horrors and biological horrors run amuck.
Oh, and I have a new book: The Dorians!

June 20, 2026I have already read this one, having written it. I will reserve judgement as to its merits, but I do think novellas are too often the overlooked sibling of horror literature.

Review of advance copy received from Edelweiss+
Thank you to Edelweiss for the ARC!
Appeal factors: grotesque, haunted houses, evil dead energy, unique and terrifying
When I saw this on Edelweiss I slammed download so fast, Nick Cutter is the master at actually freaking me out in new and creative ways. Each story had its own bent of horror, I loved seeing the different influences throughout, including Lovecraft. I think my favorite had to be the family story, purely for the sheer shock factor of it, as well as the original coffin worm story. I can picture all of the monsters in my mind's eye, which is a powerful skill for an author to have! Always a disgusting, spooky treat!

I absolutely loved this book. Each story explores a different corner of the horror genre, from body horror and possession to haunted houses and more. Every story was engaging and well-paced, steadily building tension and increasing that sense of dread.
I especially enjoyed the format of having several novellas collected into one book. It gives you a taste of different horror subgenres while still allowing each story enough space to develop its own identity. I think the collection was such a fun way to experience a variety of styles all in one book.

the first two novellas in this were so fascinating and unique, but the last 2 felt like classic retellings but not enough to make it interesting. This, for some reason, took me a whole month to read which should say something as well as I just never found myself thinking about it enough to pick up. I'm still going to read everything he puts out though and, though I wasn't the biggest fan, I still found him to be one of the few to write novels and novellas with the same expertise
