Each arrives as an uncanny miniature—perfect replicas of places steeped in pain and unresolved wrongs. And once nestled within Midhouse’s walls, they reach ghostly fingers back into the world, seeking justice and retribution.
When Midhouse’s newest patient, Isabelle, arrives, Halie expects a routine birth, but the house-child is fragile, incomplete in a way she’s never seen. Halie suspects Isabelle is hiding a dangerous secret. Then strange men arrive at her door—and Midhouse changes.

Review of advance copy received from NetGalley
Hush Little Hauntings by Marie Croke was exactly the kind of strange, atmospheric horror that gets under my skin. The idea of a secluded manor where hauntings are literally born is creepy enough, but Midhouse itself becomes increasingly terrifying as corridors stretch, rooms disappear, and something feels very, very wrong.
I loved the eerie concept of these miniature haunted places carrying the pain and wrongs of the past. Halie and Isabelle’s story pulled me deeper into the mystery, and the whole book has this wonderfully unsettling, dreamlike quality that made me want to keep reading even when I knew things were getting darker.
This was creepy, gothic, weird, and beautifully unsettling. Five stars from me!
