Jack is back and this time round he's speaking to killer grandparents. Not something you really think about is it? Everyone always imagines grandparents to be loving and safe.

The patients are:

Crystal
Herbet
Anna
Grandma Sugar

Each of these stories were completely different and Anna's was just not what I was expecting at all! It actually made me feel really unnerved.

I can understand why Grandma Sugar did what she did, but it was still wrong and should have been handled a different way.

Unfortunately this is my least favourite installment of this series so far. I had to push through to finish, but the final patient's story was fantastic and was a wonderful tale to end on!

Still a huge fan of the series and cannot wait to read the rest!

Wow

Jack Steen's stories are just so good. This book was different than the previous nine because you could almost understand and, dare I say it, empathize with a few of them? I am rating it 4 stars because the first story just didn't do it for me. However, the others were terrific. I hope he never retires lol!

Now I have to admit that I did read the revised version of Crystals story because I was definitely struggling with the book version because it felt like I was just reading someone's stream of thoughts and not an actual well thought out story but the revised version was really good.

Herbert really creeped me out because there wasn't much resolve with his it was he knew how he felt about what he had done and was right for doing it. End of story. Kind of creepy.

Anna's story made my skin crawl because you didn't know who to really blame because the person who actually did the crime wasn't the person Jack was talking to she was just the mastermind behind it. I don't know how I feel about that one.

Grandma Sugar's story gave me that same lower gut pain that Bucket did of who is really the bad guy of this story because she did what she needed to do to stop the the pain and the situation that she was put into but she did still murder a child. I don't know just sits weird with me.

Alas the tenth book is here, I've been waiting patiently for this.

This time around on the chopping block we have killer grandparents! Yes you heard that right, Grandparents.

Our four patients this time are:
* Crystal
* Herbert
* Anna
* Grandma Sugar

Oh and boy do they each have a story to tell! From rules and regulations to using Resin to encase victims. This one has it all!

Damn the first two stories were about control. The third and fourth stories... well Anna was a strange woman but I can see that her and her husband were sad with the children leaving, but what they did with those children hurt my heart. Grandma Sugar on the other hand, I can see why she did what she did. I'm not condoning it but I understand.

Not bad

Favorite story was Anna and Grandma sugar!. The story Anna told did get a little confusing for me cause it kept jumping for the basement to the old burned house. So many questions. Grandma Sugar story was perfection!!

Always good books in this series, but this one felt too subtle. You were left to interpret meaning and scenes that were a lot more vague than the previous books. Almost like every idea or dialogue was Fade-To-Black.
