Harbinger. Twice Scott Wolfe has faced this giant of a man. Twice he's barely escaped with his life. If Scott ever hopes to uncover the corruption that is shaping the free world, a confrontation with his most dangerous adversary is unavoidable.

Even though Scott has gone underground, it doesn't mean he's alone. He has reconnected with Kathrin, the golden-haired beauty who was with him when it all began. He'd long dreamed of the reunion. But now that Monkey Wrench and Gretel are reunited, something doesn't quite add up. Does he risk the blossoming romance to pry deeper? What if she is a danger to him? Will his emotions leave him blindsided by the truth?

Scott keeps driving deeper into the inner workings of the conspiracy, further from his support and closer to danger. Is it too soon for Scott to be on his own? That question might be answered before he's ready for it.

S.L. Shelton, a bestselling thriller author, is a passionate, fact spouting former techie and soldier who is constantly at odds with his need to kick the legs out from under those who abuse their power (Political, Economic or Super). He lives on a tiny little farm on the banks of a tiny little river in the northwestern part of Virginia, where his semi-secret identity is somewhat protected on three sides. Despite deep misgivings about writing on subjects close to his own life, he has penned a series of books about a similarly broken, similarly gifted young man who similarly doesn't have a clue when to stop and re-evaluate life decisions.

Before building his career in the computer field for nearly two decades as a developer, designer, trainer, and a CEO, he had the honor of serving in the US Armed Forces in several roles, most involving explosives of some sort. After selling his successful micro empire in 2011, Shelton retired to his study which he hasn't left since. On most days he writes, but when left alone and to his own devices, breaks his troll like existence long enough to sneak into the sunlight and fire a weapon or two, snap a few pictures or pick some vegetables from his wife's prized organic garden beds.

Though his climbing days are behind him due to injuries (several to the head), he was an avid rock climber, having climbed for decades since his teen years. His three children are grown and living very adventurous lives of their own.

Waking Wolfe is the first novel in the Scott Wolfe Series, followed by Unexpected Gaines, Danger Close, Wolfe Trap, Harbinger, Predator's Game and coming in 2017 Splinter Self. He has also published a Crime Novel and a Back Story Novella to the Scott Wolfe Series.

In this entry, Scott has gone underground, but is still trying to find out what his arch foe, Harbinger, is up to. He trails people around Europe most of the time, and re-connects with his paramour, who may or may not be on his side. Such is life in the espionage field.

Some excitement, but a bit too much driving around for my taste.

I’ve been hooked on Mr. Shelton’s Scott Wolfe series from the moment I picked up his first book. So it’s no surprise I think he’s a fantastic storyteller.

This is a book that has it all: action, tension, intrigue, romance, a fast moving plot, and well-developed characters. No spoilers, but readers will find it edgy.

There is good reason to fear Harbinger and it’s brought to light as we learn about him. Scott comes face to face with him in his latest adventure. Harbinger is one serious bad guy.

In Harbinger Mr. Shelton gives his reader a little something more that wasn’t in his previous books. Mr. Shelton shares with his reader a deeper insight into this character that left me seriously feeling bad for his early life and what he was forced to endure.
He also reveals the who the mysterious Kathrin is. If you follow the story you know she has some covert background, but I didn’t see the one he gave her, yet it fits her.

Mr. Shelton will suck the reader into the plot immediately and have them captivated as the events unfolded.

I marvel about Mr. Shelton’s ability to come up with so many adventures that flow seamlessly together page after page. The characters, and their different impact on the story are a major high point in the success in all of his books.

I got chills reading a scene or two! I loved every single thing about this book. It played like a movie in my mind. Wow! Mr. Shelton needs to be writing all day and night with his talent. I am anxiously waiting another book in the Scott Wolfe series!

If you don't read this you are missing out on a great read. I recommend the whole ride though. To experience the fullness of the Scott Wolfe series by Mr. Shelton I recommend picking up a copy of each book and reading them one right after another.

Mr. Shelton does a brilliant job at weaving in the back-story behind Harbinger’s character.

Harbinger, the fifth book of the Scott Wolfe series, is a continuation of the tight, fast paced storytelling that readers have come to expect from spy thriller author S.L. Shelton. He has come up with a formula that seems anything but formulaic in its brilliantly frustrating unpredictability. Unlike other authors who write multi book series, Shelton continues to produce new chapters of his story packed full of twists and turns that both entertain and infuriate in the most wonderful and creative ways, and somehow each book gets better than the one that came before it. I am a great follower of authors who write books in a series, but in my opinion, there are only a select few of them who can keep a storyline and characters intriguing enough to make their successful venture last longer than a few books. It’s obvious that S.L. Shelton has discovered a way to avoid this pitfall because with his latest offering, the details of CIA operative Scott Wolfe’s most eventful life are picking up steam and only becoming more and more interesting.

Harbinger begins to unfold when Scott receives a phone call at the blurry hour of three forty five am. Immediately the reader learns that, while tucked away with what I’d like to believe is his true love, Scott is not taking a much needed vacation from his adventurous life, but is in fact working on something that will no doubt put him in extreme danger. For those dedicated readers of Shelton’s work, we know that this is yet another offering of exhilarating storytelling, and that we will be faced with much emotional angst and caffeine fueled reading late into the night until we are, as always, rewarded with another hugely satisfying piece of Scott Wolfe’s story. Unsurprisingly, Shelton had me hooked from the first page and kept me thinking of the story long after I’d read the concluding paragraph.

This is a well-traveled tale, the story taking place in locations such as Antwerp, Calais, New York City, Zurich and, of course, CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia. It brings back many of Shelton’s familiar cast of characters including, as the title suggests, Harbinger, the relentless and unmerciful giant that Scott has battled against before. He proves once again to be a formidable foe, and, just like the four books before it, Harbinger takes its readers on a wild and thoroughly engaging ride.

There will be no spoilers here. To share anything more of the plot would be unfair to the author as well as to all his readers. I will say, however, that S.L. Shelton’s Scott Wolfe Series is one that should not be missed. It is one of those exhilarating literary surprises any reader is excited to find, and I am hopeful that there are many more books from this talented writer to come.

Harbinger delivers in the biggest way imaginable!

The author provided me with a free copy. It of course didn’t influence this review in any way!

S.L. Shelton’s fifth outing of the amazing Scott Wolfe saga is his most action-packed, cleverly plotted and intriguing tale, so far!

He expands the complex story of the saga in new directions, giving more depth and background to certain characters and spices all with breath taking suspense and edge of your seat action!

To read this series in order is crucial to fully appreciate the story in all its complexity!

I also had the pleasure to beta read this novel as a courtesy of the author. It gave me a fascinating glimpse into the working process of a real master!
The next one can’t come out soon enough, hurry up Mr. Shelton!

Harbinger (Scott Wolfe #5)

Final showdown between Scott and Harbinger, a seven foot plus giant that ends very badly. Scott's company is overrun, Storc gets injured, captured, and rescued by Scott and others. Just when you think you've got the plot figured out, a new twist pops up and you're off in another tangent. This is a true page Turner. Thanks for another great read.

Like the Scott Wolfe book

Like this series! This was a quick moving story. Just like the rest of the series. I made the mistake of starting with the fourth book. Don't do it. Catch it from the start with number one
