Y’all…I’m crying right now. When I first saw this book on the shelf on my library, I knew it was destiny. I needed to read this book. As soon as I got home I when to my room and started reading. The way it is written really takes you into the book. Every page brought new words and new discoveries. This book is so moving- I cried multiple times while reading it. And the ending! Y’all…that ending was so good! The plot twist? I wasn’t even predicting it!
I have the bilingual Spanish/English version of this book. The photos are clear and bright without any background clutter. The creatures and objects are mostly recognizable to my 2-year old son. Some of the more exotic animals he does not recognize yet. There are enough recognizable objects to keep him interested, though.
The text is simple and brief also. He is too young to understand counting yet, but will repeat the names of numbers randomly. There is also a glossary and pronunciation guide for the Spanish words in the back of the book.
Overall, this is one of the best toddler books I've found, with photographic quality pictures and good text. And my 2-year old likes it.
This book has been read to my son probably 100 times. If I am exaggerating it isn't much. It is great for an infant. But I bet it will be great also for counting and sorting as a toddler. You can't start too early to introduce the math skills in a fun way.
